Bride To His Darkness-Chapter 364: Where’s Sam?
Chapter 364: Where’s Sam?
"She’s expecting?" Brian’s eyes lit with surprise at the news, unable to hide his awe, and Lucy nodded her head excitedly, presently overwhelmed by the news Elara shared with her. She had been worried, thinking something serious had happened to her friend, but in the end, the pleasant news was what they were gifted with.
"I’m anticipating Ivan’s reaction when he hears this." Duncan folded his arms, and Lucy nudged him a bit on his shoulder, stealing his attention from Brian.
"That makes you an uncle, right? And I’m going to be the future Aunt! This is so exciting! I’m just glad we were worried for nothing." she beamed, and at this point, Duncan was unable to keep a straight face. A soft smile graced his lips at her cute, genuine reaction to the news, and he simply gave Lucy a gentle pat on the head before walking away.
Lucy had not expected that move, and her cheeks flushed when he gave her an affectionate pat on the head. She watched him retreat to his tent, probably to rest, and her attention returned to Brian and Elara who had been watching her, but Elara had a knowing smile on her lips.
Lucy cleared her throat at their expression, feeling slightly embarrassed. "Uhm... I’ll arrange a place for the two of you to stay if you plan on waiting."
"We were about to take our leave actually, we didn’t plan on staying long since we’re renovating our land at the current moment, but we’ll come back again." Brian didn’t hesitate to inform her, handing the basket of fruits to Lucy, "this will come in handy, I suppose."
Lucy accepted the basket of fruits with an appreciative smile, and she bowed her head at the two of them. "Thank you for coming to our aid at a time like this, I’ll make sure to tell her you stopped by once she wakes up."
"Not a problem my dear, take care of yourself too." Elara waved her goodbyes before taking her leave with Brian.
However, they stopped along the way after spotting Ivan heading in their direction, and they smiled, happy that they hadn’t completely left before he returned. They were oblivious to the reaction he had on his face after sighting them, and Brian was surprisingly pleased that he could meet with him again.
"Your Majesty." Brian lowered his head in a polite bow before resuming his posture. "We were about leaving before you came, it’s a good thing we ran into you, and I wanted to thank you for–"
"Can this discussion be held later?" Ivan interjected before Brian could complete what he wanted to say. It was only then Brian and Elara took notice of his worried expression, but before they got a chance to ask him if there was any problem, he walked past them, heading towards the tent where Lucy stood.
She was daydreaming as usual at the entrance of the tent, but instantly composed herself after sighting Ivan.
"Your Majesty!" Lucy was relieved to see he was back, "your Majesty I have good news!"
"Where’s Sam?" Ivan demanded, but he didn’t bother to wait for Lucy’s response before going inside the tent. Confused by the sudden alarm in his voice, Lucy immediately followed him in to see he was already picking Samantha into his arms.
"Your Majesty?"
"I need to get her out of here before they come for her." Was all he said, but Lucy was quick to stop him before he lifted her from the bedspread where she laid. Alain and Lily, who had stayed by Samantha’s side, watched confusedly when Lily got in the way of Ivan.
"Wait, listen to me first." Lucy began apologetically, "forgive my manners but you’ll have to be more careful with her. She’s–"
"Are you going to lecture me on how I should treat my own wife?" Ivan’s gaze darkened at Lucy’s comment, making her freeze in shock. "Those two are coming for Samantha, Marius won’t let her be as long as she’s here, I have to take her far away from here. Stop me one more time and I won’t be responsible for what happens to you."
Lucy was taken aback by the threat in his voice, and before he could take the unconscious Sam from where she laid, Alain grabbed his arm and bit into his wrist. It made him withdraw his hand due to the pain that came from the little boy’s bite.
"Don’t touch my Aunty." Alain didn’t hesitate to say, "only witches take people by force."
"You little brat!"
Before he could get his hands on Alain, a vine sprang from nowhere and seized his hand mid-air, stopping whatever action he planned on doing. Madeline was standing at the entrance of the tent with Duncan, and she was glaring directly at Ivan. Alain had gotten to his feet to hide behind his mother, and Lily followed, presently petrified by what they were seeing.
"Hmm... we know you’re worried Ivan, but there’s no need to be so violent." Duncan’s lips quirked into a smile, "you’re so taken by worry, you can’t even see she’s unconscious, despite being in front of you. You’ve always been notified about your wife’s health, what happened now?"
"I need to get her away from here."
"I understand, but where exactly? Hold on, what’s this?" In a matter of seconds, Duncan was right in front of him, and he grabbed Ivan’s wrist, staring at the wounded mark around his wrist.
"Were you chained, Ivan?" He asked, subtly noticing the one mistake they failed to hide. "You heal faster than a mere vampire, but this wound, it should have healed by now."
"Let go of my wrist!"
"I’m afraid not, Carmela." He mentioned, earning the slight hesitant reaction from who he suspected to be Carmela.
"Did you really think you could fool everyone with the same little stunt?" Duncan dragged him out of the tent and into the open, his strength sending her stumbling forward even when he used so little of it.
"Fabulous disguise Carmela, but have you never been told not to use the same trick twice if it’s with someone who knows your tactics already? Another thing you got wrong was Ivan’s character, he’s not violent to the one’s he protects, he’s only violent to those he wishes to harm."
Duncan tilted his head to the side, a harmless smile gracing his lips, "study closely before you act. Although Ivan is a confusing character to play, right?"
Brian and Elara, who waited behind, rushed to the scene, and they were bewildered to see Ivan, who Duncan suspects was Carmela, surrounded by everyone. All of a sudden, vines sprung out from the earth beneath Carmela’s feet, trapping her in their entanglement, and it didn’t take long for Carmela to reveal her true form.
"It’s you?!" Brian pointed a finger at the woman who caused his home destruction. "Finally caught in your own web, you really don’t understand people’s limits at all, do you?" he seethed, but the woman only struggled to entangle herself from the vines, paying no heed to Brian’s hateful comment.
"Let me out of this thing!" She ordered, trying to fish out the one responsible for placing her in this mess.
Madeline approached Carmela, and the next thing she did was to land a tight slap across her stupid face. Her action left Carmela stunned for a moment, unable to believe she was hit, but the dull pain on her cheek was not imaginary either.
She got slapped?
"You were the one who wanted to use my son for a ritual, right?" Madeline didn’t hold back the rage in her voice. "Do you know that your demonic ritual could have led my son into suffering from a trauma? And like that wasn’t enough for you, you tried to hit him in my presence. Are you even a woman?"
"She’s a witch." Lucy stated, "she has no gender. Honestly, I don’t mind starting a fire to welcome her." she suggested, glancing at everyone else for their approval.
As if timed, Ivan suddenly arrived, bringing along a gust of wind as he landed effortlessly on the ground, his wings closing up behind him. His gaze darted towards Carmela who was held back by the vine, and he glanced at Duncan.
"She disguised herself as you." he explained, "she wanted to take Sam away."
"What about Marius, did you find him?"
"Well she... she came alone." Lucy answered, still shaken up from everything that has happened.
"Where’s Sam?"
"In the tent."
Ivan immediately went into the tent to check, and his wife was not there.
