Bride To His Darkness-Chapter 331: Into His Arms
Chapter 331: Into His Arms
The silence that followed was shattered abruptly as a chilling, stabbing sound pierced the air, echoing through the recesses of Samantha’s memories. Her eyes snapped to the present in response, and for a fleeting moment, confusion clouded her senses.
She was back in the hallway, yet an eerie realization dawned upon her in essence to the stab she was sure was heading in her direction– she felt no pain, yet it sounded like someone had been stabbed in her place.
Lifting her head to see who had taken the hit, her pupils constricted in shock when Alistair shielded her with his body. He no longer wore his chains, which meant he wasn’t restricted from showcasing his full energy as a wild vampire, but that did not stop the worry that immediately painted her visage. ƒrēewebnoѵёl.cσm
"Alistair?" She whispered in awe.
"Run, get out of here." He pleaded urgently to the dazed woman, his eyes conveying a mixture of regret and the sacrifice he was about to make. His body shook as he struggled to contain the six spears penetrating through his back, whilst Samantha flinched when she saw the blood escaping from the corner of his mouth
"Alistair!" Confused and alarmed, Samantha reached out to him, but he opened his palm and revealed her beast plant, which was still deep in a coma.
He had kept her beast plant?
"Take this and go!"
"Viney?" Samantha’s eyes brimmed with tears upon seeing her pet plant, and she was happy to know that it was safe. However, her happiness was short-lived when she glanced behind Alistair, and a wave of terror gripped her heart.
"What... what are those things?" She spooked.
Wraith Demons, with hollow eyes devoid of any humanity, slowly approached them. Their forms contorted in unnatural ways, like shadows dancing in the moonlight. Their blades, which seemed formed from the essence of despair, emanated a black mist that clung to the air, corrupting the surrounding even further.
The mist seemed to have a peculiar effect, whilst all six blades dissolved into Alistair’s back, causing him to convulse with an agony he has never experienced.
Samantha recoiled in horror as she witnessed the dark mist seeping into his veins, affecting him on a level that transcended the physical, but regardless of the torture he was placed in, Alistair summoned his scythe and helped his trembling body up to his feet. How can he possibly move under the pain he was presently facing??
"I’ll hold them off." He said, "but you have to get out of here."
"I can’t... you’ll die!"
Fear clutched her heart at the thought, but the smile on Alistair’s lips, despite the wounds that had been inflicted on him reminded her of the Alistair she knew. This was the Alistair who considered her as his sister.
"Just in case, don’t forget to take revenge for your brother’s death!" He playfully grinned, exposing his sharp white teeths before turning around to face the wraith demons.
"And one more thing," he suddenly added, "thank you for not hating me, you made my life fun! Just don’t replace me when I’m no more, okay? And tell Mufasa he has to do his training within the borders, cause I might not be there to knock some senses into his head! If I catch him in hell I’ll tear him into pieces. Oh well, All’s well, that ends well."
Before Samantha could think of stopping him, Alistair lunged first with pure madness in his eyes. He swung his scythe with relenting force, dissecting the wraith demons with a single swipe.
When she made plans to run and find help, Marius materialized in front of her. The shock in his eyes upon realizing she had broken his spell– again! Made his patience wear thin. He was sure he had her completely so how in the hell’s name did she snap out of it??
"And where are you going?" He roughly grabbed her wrist.
"LEAVE HER ALONE!!" The raging voice of Alistair could be heard, and he came in-between the both of them, swinging his scythe at Marius who vanished and reappeared at a safer distance.
"What the hell are you? Some obsessed maniac?? Have some decency for another man’s wife!!" Alistair lashed out at the demon, his veins popping at the top of his temples.
"Run!" He gave her the command, and Samantha didn’t think twice before dashing off in the opposite direction.
Marius’s eyes were tinged with excitement upon having to face Alistair. His wraith demons simply went after Samantha while he stayed behind to handle the vampire.
"Are you tempted to face death?"
"Shut the fuck up!!" And he lunged at Marius first, his scythe catching the light of the setting sun coming from the window.
Samantha sprinted down the stairs without turning back, and the fortress was already at the brink of collapsing. Behind her were the wraith demons that followed her with malicious intent, and her vines were quick to shield her from the poisonous spears that were tossed in her direction.
Samantha could feel her legs quiver from exhaustion, and a wave of panic surged through her veins.
Reaching the last stairs, a misstep sent her sprawling to the ground, but she refused to stay down. Picking herself up with whatever energy she could muster, she crawled when her legs were no longer in cooperation with her mind, but there was nowhere her crawling could get her to.
The wraith demons snarled behind her, and Samantha lost all strength to keep moving.
Fear gripped her heart when the wraith demons loomed over her, their spears raised, all ready to strike at once. Looking away as the shadows of despair already paralyzed her in her spot, the wraith’s apparition crumbled into dust.
Samantha could hardly bring herself to breathe when her life flashed before her eyes, but despite witnessing their dusts dissipating into the air, she could not bring her body to move. The silence that ensued afterwards made her wonder if she was still alive or if a miracle had taken place.
"Sam?"
The voice of Ivan was enough to make her body and soul react instantly, and she could see him standing a few paces away, his eyes aglow with the demonic essence that had been buried inside of him. Time seemed to freeze as the realization washed over them, and after what felt like an eternity to Samantha, she could hardly believe her eyes.
"I... Ivan? Ivan!" In that moment, a wave of indescribable happiness engulfed her. Tears welled up in her eyes as Ivan crossed the distance in a blink, his strong arms wrapping around her as he dropped to his knees to match her height. He was embracing her with such tightness that Samantha could hardly breathe, but with his presence came a sense of familiarity that made her sob with no control.
"Samantha," Ivan whispered, his voice choked with emotion as his eyes gleamed, "I thought I had lost you forever."
"Ivan."
Overcome with relief and love, Samantha clung onto him with her legs wrapping his waist, her fingers gripping the fabric of his disheveled shirt as if afraid he might vanish again. Their tight embrace spoke volumes, a silent reunion that mended the wounds of their separation.
"Come, we need to leave. Right now!" He pulled back so they could both stand up and leave the premises, but Samantha shook her head and pointed at the top leading to the balcony.
"Alistair... he’s... he needs help– he kept saying things to me and I don’t want anything to happen to him–"
"Alistair?" Ivan’s eyes momentarily snapped wide in urgency. He immediately wanted to head up only to realize he couldn’t do so with Samantha, but he couldn’t leave her behind either. He just found her!!
"You two are still in here? It’s no longer safe!" Came the voice of Tobias as he saw them standing below the stairs, "ah.. you found Sam!"
"Tobias, take Sam with you and get her out."
"Wha–!! No I’m not leaving, I don’t want to go anywhere without you." Samantha immediately refused when Ivan handed her to Tobias. She struggled to free her hand from Tobias’s grip but her efforts were futile. Meanwhile, the fear in Tobias’ eyes could not be ignored.
After that massive earthquake she caused, Tobias was careful not to force her into releasing her powers again, but he was sure if he didn’t let go, she was going to unleash her powers on him.
"Go with Tobias," Ivan implored, "only when you’re out of here will I be assured of your safety. I’ll come to you when I’m done here, but leave with Tobias."
"P... promise?"
"I promise, now go." Glancing at Tobias who assured him that she was in good hands, Ivan went back up to retrieve Alistair.
