Chapter 330: Forest Fae’s Extinction

Taking in a good amount of air into her lungs, Samantha tried to rise back up on her own two feet.

The echoes of destruction seemed distant, and that gave her some time to recover a little bit of her strength before applying pressure to her weak limbs, forcing herself into a sitting position. When she was pushed out of the way, she was unable to regain her stamina and fell to the ground, but now that her senses were slowly returning, she was able to grasp that the one she tried to kill had saved her from what was coming.

Her eyes flickered for a moment, a glimmer of recognition breaking through at the sound of Ivan’s voice, but before she could gain some of her sanity, a searing pain penetrated into her skull, and she was back to clutching her head again, unable to get used to the torturous pain that invaded her senses. Her heart drummed in her chest, her breathing labored, yet she could not fight it.

Her demeanor shifted in an instant, confusion and pain flashing across her face as she struggled to suppress the pain. Her vines hesitated in their attacks, curling protectively around her, and Samantha could feel herself give in when an image, one she could hardly recognize displayed before her vision.

No, it felt like she was re-living the memory.

The landscape before her unfolded in vibrant hues of emerald and azure, whilst she stood before an enchanted Forest.

Towering trees with leaves that shimmered like liquid crystals stretched towards heaven, creating a lush canopy that filtered the golden sunlight. The ground beneath her bare feet was adorned with arrays of flowers, emitting a gentle glow, and everything seemed to have come to live with her presence.

The headache that threatened to tear her head in half was gone, the exhaustion that took over body system was all gone as well. She felt renewed, and that bothered her more.

"Where... What.. What is this place?" Samantha’s eyes studied her new environment in urgency, and she was sure this had nothing to do with Carmela’s fortress.

Was this another one of Marius’s tricks? She hoped not.

In this domain, the hundreds of young women she could see floated effortlessly in the air, their laughter harmonizing with the natural symphony of the surrounding. Their translucent wings glistened in radiant patterns, reflecting the beauty of their untainted existence, and only then did it hit Samantha when she felt a fluttering sensation in her back.

She had wings?!!!

"Sierra! Come or we’re gonna be late!" She heard one of the Fae’s excitedly say to her, and the young lady reached her side, grabbing her arm so they could join the other Fae’s who appeared to be heading somewhere within the forest. It was at this point that Samantha came to the realization that she was standing in the breathtaking realm within the recesses of her past life– a land of the forest Fae.

"Is this...?!!" Samantha clutched her chest at the nostalgic feeling in her heart.

Was her name Sierra?

She felt a profound connection to this realm, a place where the purity of nature and magic intertwined. Come to think of it, she had wings????

But if she has one, why doesn’t she have them anymore??

Her state of mind was inexplicably torn by the complexity of her predicament, her thoughts were far off from the rest of the excited Fae’s, but all glitters are never gold.

Samantha was starting to get used to this new sanctuary when all of a sudden, it began to rain downpour. The Forest Fae who had been by her side was no longer there, as if she had vanished into thin air, and the gathering clouds above darkened into a threatening storm, a flash of lightning rumbling within.

In no time, Samantha was drenched from head to toe, her green dress clinging to her skin as the echoes of panic and havoc took over. Lifting her head to face the cries and screams of agony, the once peaceful realm was coated in blood.

Samantha froze when the scene switched into one of destruction, and she could see the war that was being held between Fae’s and the Demon. She remembered the story of the war, and now she was witnessing the bloody massacre with her own eyes. Beast plants resembling arboreal beasts with roots that burrowed into the wet fertile ground, all rose to the call of the Fae’s, and among them was her Viney who stood like a giant, his imposing height almost the same as the towering trees pointing towards heaven.

"Viney?" Her green eyes dilated at the monstrous size of her viney. It didn’t seem to have heard her speak as it was busy sending the demon soldiers to their early grave.

The rain did not seize, the sound of it was mixed with haunting cries of war, but looking at her hands, they were stained with blood. She panicked at the sight and immediately tried to wipe it off, but her face paled upon noticing her hands weren’t the only thing covered in blood. Her dress, even her face was soiled with the color of blood– almost as if she had partaken in the killing of her own kind.

"N..no." she shook her head at the intrusive thoughts, "that can’t be! I’m not a murderer, I’d never–"

"Sierra." From the midst of the chaos, she could see Marius approaching in his true form. Everyone of her kind had been slaughtered, including the beast plants, and the only sound she could perceive was the rain that washed down heavily on her skin, erasing the bloodstain.

She tried to stand on her two feet, but there was a force keeping her down on her knees, succumbing to Marius’s influence.

"Poor little thing," Marius crouched before her panic-stricken self, and a devious smile curved his lips. "It was not my intention to choose violence, but you... you are the one I’ve been searching for, and you brought this misery upon yourself. Out of all the Fae’s in this land, I was only able to connect with your mind, so you must feel terrible, having to murder your own kind with your bare hands. I wanted nothing but to have the Dark Fae, and I have gotten that. If they had released you to me when I was being polite enough to ask, all of these would have been avoided, so as punishment, I made you kill the ones who tried to shield you from me. Doesn’t that describe your potential to dominate the world alongside me?"

"You’re lying!!" Samantha screamed in denial at his hurtful words, unable to bear the idea of killing her kind, or anyone for that matter, but then she heard Marius tsk in her direction.

"I guess this is your punishment for being a Dark Fae. You must probably wish for death at this point but unfortunately I cannot kill my Jewel. I have only just found you, so I shall take you into my care! Think of this as a peace treaty."

And the green Orb materialized in his hand.

"You will pay for this!" She vowed with a hateful glint in her eyes, her gaze sweeping past the dead bodies of her people. "You... you killed them all, you murdered them all you– you’re a monster!! What did we ever do to you to deserve this??" Despite her attempt to not cry, Samantha failed terribly in sucking them up, whilst she broke down at the face of Marius, refusing to accept that she had a hand in this tragic massacre.

"You made me hurt my people! You made me.. you made me stain my hands you..." her voice trembled at the realization, her body shook from the trauma, and with a cry that expressed her anguish, the forest realm exploded into ruins.

Unbeknownst to Samantha, her actions resurfaced in the present, and the world crumbled under the intensity of her grief. An Earthquake that went past the borders shook the realms, and people could be seen running for their lives as buildings crumbled to the ground.

Meanwhile, Brian, who had come to the conclusion that Samantha was safe in her Kingdom, had stepped out of the cottage when he felt the earthquake that almost tore the earth in two.
