Bride of the Serpent King-Chapter 44 -: Eryx’s Judgment
Chapter 44: Chapter:44 Eryx’s Judgment
Everett brought Zaiyila back to the house and headed straight to the kitchen to find something for her to eat for dinner. Zaiyila followed him immediately.
"Eve," Zaiyila called softly, her face adorned with a cute expression.
Everett gulped and leaned closer to her. "My Queen, I’m quite busy right now. Must you call me that?" His gaze drifted to her lips.
Zaiyila wore a confused expression. "Oh... husband?" she smiled beautifully, looking more charming than ever.
Everett pressed his lips together. Will you please stop teasing me like this, he thought. "Does my Queen need something?" he inquired.
"I’m sorry for today," she murmured.
Everett couldn’t resist anymore and kissed her. After having his fill, he pulled away and voiced gently, "My Queen, you shouldn’t be. I’ve said it many times—you can’t be wrong in anything, so don’t apologize so easily."
Zaiyila pouted. "What if I slapped my teacher without being provoked? Isn’t that considered wrong?"
"No."
"Ehn! How?"
"Because you are always right. You can decide anyone’s fate."
Zaiyila burst into laughter and wrapped her arms around his neck. "You make it sound like I’m the big boss of the school."
"Well, you are," he affirmed.
Zaiyila giggled again, thinking he was teasing her. "I love you very much."
"I’m aware."
"Tell me you love me too."
"My Queen is my heart."
"I want to hear the words."
"Yes, I love you too."
Zaiyila leaned forward and rewarded him with a quick kiss. "My heart is beating so fast! I’m going to die from loving you!" she laughed.
"Ehn, my Queen, you shouldn’t say things like that."
Zaiyila kissed his cheek and stared at him.
Everett smiled, looking even more handsome. He lifted Zaiyila onto his back and continued cooking while she clung to him like a baby, smiling as she inhaled his refreshing sandalwood scent.
Soon, the food was ready, and the couple fed each other tenderly as they ate.

A black-haired lady slowly opened her eyes, only to find herself in a dark room. She tried to speak, but no voice escaped her lips. She struggled to move, only to realize she was bound in chains. Fear gripped her as she glanced around the dim room, eyes filled with worry.
"Oh, you’re awake. Seems I made it in time," a male voice echoed. That voice was laced with death and an oppressive aura, both terrifying and suffocating.
Following his voice, the room lit up with candlelight, revealing everything within. It was spacious and tidy, but curiously empty—except for a single long bench in the center, acting as a bridge between the lady and the man.
She was petrified. Her instincts screamed danger, and all she wanted to do was flee, but she knew escape was impossible.
"Please... please," she managed to force out, but her voice was faint and came off as arrogant.
"The greater the sin, the greater the punishment. Sarah, right?" the man chuckled and moved closer to the bench, the light revealing her face.
He was a blonde-haired, handsome man with a cold expression etched into his face. He looked at the woman—Serah—with raw hostility, as though she had been his enemy for a long time.
Serah trembled, feeling even worse upon realizing she didn’t recognize him. "Please let me go?" she whispered, her voice cracking as tears streamed down her face.
"Let you go?" Eryx scoffed. His chuckle radiated menace. "Do you think I brought you here for decoration?" He stepped away from the bench and approached her.
Serah’s breathing grew unsteady.
"You slapped her... and cursed her, didn’t you?"
"I—I don’t know what you’re—" Before she could finish, a thunderous slap landed across her face. The blow was so brutal that several teeth followed the blood spilling from her mouth. Her vision blurred instantly.
"I did... I did! Please spare me! I beg you!" she wept, barely clinging to consciousness.
Eryx sneered. "You’re clever... but I hate liars. You did it. That alone is minor, but you dared to slap her. That means you’re simply tired of living." He seized her neck and lift her up.
"No... no... please," Serah sobbed, her entire body trembling with the sense of death drawing near.
"An easy death is too light a punishment. But... I have more pressing matters," he muttered and flung her across the room. Her head slammed against the hard wall before she collapsed.
Eryx stared at her emotionlessly and stretched out his hand. A man entered just in time and placed a wiper in his palm.
Eryx calmly cleaned his hand, his face twisted in disgust. "Can’t believe I touched that filth. Slap her two hundred and ninety-nine times before finishing her. There’s no need to consider her for anything else—she’s garbage," he declared, then turned and exited.
"Yes, Your Highness!" the man bowed and walked over to Serah to begin the grim task.
---
"Your Highness, Everett’s men are already looking for the bastard female," a green-haired man announced shortly after Eryx stepped out of the room.
"Everett, huh," Eryx chuckled darkly. "Send him her arm. He should be made aware of my presence early, so he has time to prepare... for sharing the Queen with me." A wicked smile curved on his lips.
"But, Your Majesty... Everett is a very stubborn king. I’m afraid he—"
Eryx’s gaze turned icy, and he fixed the green-haired man with a murderous glare. "If he can’t share her, I’ll have her all to myself. There’s no room for mistakes this time."
His eyes glowed eerily, similar to Everett’s. ƒгeewёbnovel.com
"Yes, Your Majesty. I’ve prepared your approach to the Queen. Everything is set. But your mot—I mean... the human madam is making her own plans."
Eryx closed his eyes and waved his hand. "Whatever she’s planning, let her be. Just make sure nothing interferes with mine. That’s the key point," he commanded, then walked away.
"Yes, Your Majesty," the green-haired man bowed. After Eryx disappeared, he looked puzzled. "Was I hallucinating... or did His Majesty not get angry when I nearly called the human madam his mother?" he wondered aloud. "Whatever... I’m lucky anyway," he muttered, brushing it off.
