Chapter 41: Eryx’s Devotion

"Oh please, don’t tease me," Eryx replied calmly, taking a spoon and beginning to eat.

The woman looked at her son and smiled beautifully, then sat down opposite him, secretly sending the picture to her phone before handing it back to him.

"Tell mummy, do you like this girl?" she inquired.

Eryx didn’t respond and continued eating, his expression calm. But if anyone had been paying close attention, they would have noticed the excited glint in his eyes. Of course, his mother didn’t miss it.

She laughed. "Finally, I’m going to have a daughter-in-law, haha!" she exclaimed joyfully.

"Tell me, which family gave birth to such a beauty? I’ll arrange a proposal to them immediately."

Eryx shook his head. "Nope. Her family is one kind of trash I want to wipe out. She’s alone," he answered coldly.

"Ehn?" The woman was stunned. "That’s fine, and I have no problem with her being alone, but won’t she feel bad? I don’t want her to have any negative feelings about you," she expressed with concern.

Eryx smiled. "She definitely won’t feel bad. They’re part of the reason she’s who she is today," he added with a cold smirk.

The woman couldn’t understand what her son meant, but she didn’t push further. After all, her son had a strange temper, and if provoked, he might not talk to her for months. What mother would want such punishment?

"Son, what’s the name of the beauty?" she asked curiously.

"Zaiyila," Eryx responded, a smile spreading across his face.

"What a beautiful name. She must be gentle and kind," she assumed.

"Even more obedient," Eryx added.

Seeing her son’s happy expression, the woman couldn’t help but feel joyful as well.

"Ah, look at how in love you are," she remarked, then suddenly frowned.

"But... isn’t she taken? I mean, a soft girl like her is easy to manipulate and conquer."

Eryx’s smile vanished, and he looked at his mother as if she had become his greatest enemy.

"Don’t... don’t be annoyed, son. I... I was just worried," the woman stammered nervously.

"Damn, why did I say something like that to ruin the good atmosphere? He’s happy today and actually willing to talk to me... Did I just ruin it with a few words?" she thought, flustered.

Eryx continued eating. "She’s married," he commented.

"Excuse me!" The woman nearly fell off her chair.

"Did I hear him right?" she wondered in disbelief.

Eryx smirked. "You heard me right," he confirmed, raising his brows and glancing at the woman.

"And so what if she’s married? That crazy guy just used his own means to get her first—I have my own way as well," he continued, still eating. "Being the second isn’t bad either... even though it’s hateful," he muttered.

The woman’s eyes widened, and she took a long moment to process everything.

"Son... son, this—"

"You don’t have to concern yourself with my matters. Stay out of it if you’re not supportive," Eryx interjected coldly.

"How... how can that be? I... I was just worried about you. But... since this is what you want, you have my full support," she assured him with a warm smile.

"Hmm." Eryx hummed in response.

The woman looked at her son and sighed, then picked up her spoon and began eating.

"It’s been so long since I’ve had a nice, warm time with my son. If this girl is the only one who can bring him happiness, then no matter what, I must get her for him," she thought.

"Thanks anyway... Mom," Eryx suddenly remarked.

The woman was so stunned that her spoon slipped from her hand. Her eyes widened in shock as she stared at Eryx in disbelief.

"Eryx... Eryx, how... how did you just address me?" she asked, her voice trembling with excitement.

Eryx wiped his lips gently before standing.

"I’m going out," he stated and walked away.

The woman remained in a daze.

"He... he called me Mum! He’s no longer disgusted by me! Haha, this girl is a miracle. When she enters our home, there will surely be peace!" she laughed, her noble elegance replaced by a mother’s joy.

She picked up her phone from the table and dialed a number. After a few rings, the person finally picked up.

"Ella! Guess what!" She exclaimed excitedly.

There was a long pause before a female voice responded.

"Dear sister Elly, please, I hope this call is important—your call just disturbed my shoot," Ella’s annoyed voice echoed.

Elly chuckled. "My son called me Mom today! He addressed me as his Mom!" she gushed.

"Are you serious?! You’re not daydreaming again, are you?!" Ella’s shocked voice rang out.

"I’m not, dear sis—he actually called me Mum!"

"This is great! Tell me, what did you do to earn such recognition from him? You didn’t drug him or something, did you?"

"No, no! How could I ever harm my only son? Actually, he’s interested in a girl."

"Yo! Yo! Yo! He’s in love! I should’ve known. Ha! Who’s the lucky girl? I need to visit her personally," Ella replied, her voice now brimming with excitement.

Elly hesitated briefly.

"Um... her name is Zaiyila but... she’s already married," she revealed.

"You say what?!" Ella shouted.

"Um..."

"What kind of weirdo is this?! He’s interested in married women? Impossible! Absolutely impossible! Our twin family can’t be this cheap!"

Elly sighed. "Ella, it’s his choice. I’ve already accepted it."

"Are you insane?! How can you agree to something that outrageous?! Don’t you see it as destroying someone’s home?"

"No, no... my son is fine with being the second husband."

"Ah?!"

"He mentioned it himself."

There was a long pause.

"That still depends on whether the woman agrees. If she’s not interested, then there’s no need to force anything."

Elly didn’t respond.

"Elly, what crazy idea is running through your head? You’re not going to force that woman if she refuses, okay?!"

"That all still depends on my son. I’ll get him whatever he wants."

"You! Damn it, send me the woman’s picture. Let me do some digging."

"Done. I already sent it to you before calling."

"Oh," Ella responded, and after a moment, her gasp echoed through the phone.

"This... this... she’s clearly a teenager, not yet a woman!" she exclaimed.

"So beautiful," she added softly.

"I agree."

"Sister, we’re in this together! We’ll definitely try our best and help little Eryx win her over!"

"Thank you, Ella."

"Oh, don’t mention it. I’ll do some digging and get to work on it immediately."

"Yes," Elly acknowledged, and the call ended.

Son, I’ll definitely make you happy, she thought with a smile, taking another look at Zaiyila’s picture.

"Thank you, little girl," she murmured.
