Bride of Retribution: Aloof Billionaire's Dominant Game-Chapter 415 - 227 Nothing happened, right?
The car sped down the highway as Amir Hallow gripped the steering wheel, heading towards the women’s prison on the outskirts of the city.
Atlas Hallow never jokes around; when he mentioned this was the last chance to visit her, it probably was indeed the last chance to see his mother unless he changes his mind.
Things must be very serious, but what could be serious enough for Atlas to want to separate from him?
What does it mean? It means Atlas will draw a clear boundary between them.
Even though they both bear the Hallow surname, there’s nothing else connecting them apart from the shared last name.
Amir understands very well that although Atlas has never spoken cheesy words about taking care of him, he has always been looked after by him.
He believes what Atlas said today, and if it weren’t for him, his mother would have been dealt with.
But how did it come to this?
Amir was on the brink of madness, parking the car outside the women’s prison as a female guard registered him and took him to the visitation room.
Kinsley had already been brought out; in less than a day, she seemed to have aged a decade.
She appeared utterly frightened, trembling as she walked in, wearing coarse prison clothes instead of the soft silk pajamas she used to wear in her private ward.
"Amir, I don’t want to stay there, it’s terrifying..." The moment Kinsley saw Amir, tears burst forth, and she cried hysterically.
The guard outside knocked on the door impatiently: "No loud commotion."
Amir rubbed his temples in frustration: "Mom, what exactly did you do? Be honest with me."
"I didn’t, how could I..." Kinsley shook her head, her eyes swollen from crying: "Think of a way, Amir, I have to get out; I can’t stay here another day. I can’t endure it any longer."
She initially thought that after a year or two, she might use some excuse to get medical parole, if it meant killing Hailey Hill, it had already cost dearly.
"Mom, if you don’t honestly tell me what happened, no one can save you. Today, Atlas called me to his office. He’s already had the lawyer and accountants start an audit." Amir sighed helplessly; things have come to this point, why still be stubborn?
"He’s finally shown his true colors. He’s always wanted to find an opportunity to oust you from the Hallow Clan..." Kinsley appeared crazed as she stood up, mumbling to herself. She had feared this all these years, but it had finally happened. 𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶
"I’ve told you countless times, he won’t do such a thing. It’s myself who has been playful and reluctant to take on many responsibilities. He never wanted to kick me out. As for Hallow Clan, he said I could have it if I wanted, and he would let go immediately." Amir’s tone became heavier.
"Stop imagining things. You just need to tell me what you did that made Atlas so angry. Mom, this time it’s really not a joke..." He looked at Kinsley’s panicked eyes, what could be more infuriating to Atlas than killing Hailey Hill?
Angry enough to resort to force?
"It’s all that bitch Charlotte Miller. She was unfaithful, how could she go back on her word? She promised not to tell." It must be that Charlotte told Atlas about the recording pen incident from years ago; it has to be her scheming.
"Mom, stop blaming others. Charlotte has been abroad for years and hasn’t come back. You need to tell me what else you did back then, or I can’t manage it either. You should take care and hope for the best." Sometimes even Amir felt his mother was somewhat irrational, but he couldn’t simply ignore her.
That was his biological mother; no matter what she did that requires atonement, he, as a son, would bear it.
Frightened by Amir’s stern gaze, Kinsley whispered: "Is this my fault? It was Atlas himself who told Hailey Hill to have Charlotte be a surrogate for her. Hailey was afraid he’d go back on his word, so she recorded him."
The quieter she spoke, the heavier her son’s expression grew, as if he couldn’t believe what he heard.
"So?" Amir’s mind was in chaos; he had a vague understanding of what his mother had done, but hearing it directly from her seemed unbelievable, considering she’s been part of the Hallow Family for so long, yet would do such a reckless thing.
