Chapter 207: 135 Are you suffering from amnesia?

Four thousand five hundred? Looking at it, I couldn’t help but chuckle, is Ethan Baird going bankrupt? Why is he letting a woman pay for a meal?

This thought flashed briefly for just a second before Atlas Hallow immediately dismissed it. The restaurant was quite far from Ethan Baird’s studio, and it’s famous for its secrecy. He wouldn’t need to come all the way here with Charlotte Miller just to have a meal, would he?

Who was she having dinner with?

She’s already his, yet he can’t afford to take care of his woman? Is that why he confiscated Charlotte’s bank cards and put his cards in her wallet, thus receiving all notifications for expenditures with his card? Charlotte’s the type who doesn’t spend much, only occasionally buying something from the supermarket and twice buying flowers at a florist. This was the highest amount spent yet.

Was she treating someone to a meal? Who could it be?

Why tell him to look for Ethan Baird?

Questions floated to the surface of his mind one by one, and his expression grew increasingly serious.

"Atlas, what’s the matter?" Hailey Hill asked softly, seeming a bit cautious.

"Nothing..." Atlas Hallow’s deep voice rose in the air, carrying a sense of oppression with it.

"You should go back first." His heart was a bit restless, and the feeling of being suspended in mid-air was very unpleasant.

He needed to know all her actions, who she met, what she did, leaving no small detail unchecked.

Her eyes reddened suddenly, every meeting with Atlas Hallow revealed another change in him, each time more polite and courteous, but this wasn’t a good thing—it’s a sign of growing estrangement.

"Hailey, I can’t give you what you want, don’t waste your time on me, understood?" Atlas Hallow looked at Hailey Hill’s reddening eyes. He still felt immense guilt towards her, yet was helpless. Arranging a child for her and a worry-free future was the last thing he could do for her, there was nothing more he could offer.

"I don’t want anything, I’m just..." Hailey choked on her words. Atlas Hallow’s words felt like he was pushing her away, and this feeling was like a thousand arrows piercing her heart.

"Just what? Hailey, if it weren’t for what my father did back then, maybe we would have become strangers long ago, you know?" Atlas Hallow didn’t want to give Hailey any fantasies; the more hope, the more disappointment she would feel.

He hadn’t expressed these thoughts before because he didn’t understand the true meaning of love. He believed Hailey Hill’s existence made no difference, but now he understood that if one likes someone enough, feelings mingled with guilt and remorse could ultimately cause harm, not only to himself and Charlotte but to Hailey as well.

"No, it’s just that you’ve now met Charlotte, she’s young and beautiful. If years from now she isn’t the same, will you still like her?" Hailey wanted to convey something clear. Atlas Hallow was attracted to her back then for her youth and beauty, and the same thing was true for Charlotte. She could wait or tolerate such women coming and going around him; she hoped to still have a place in Atlas Hallow’s life.

Atlas Hallow’s brow furrowed slightly. Women become quite unreasonable when obsessed. He didn’t want to say anything too hurtful, so once her child is born, he will send her abroad, as her family is there. It would be the best place for her.

"I have something to attend to, take care of yourself." Atlas Hallow stood up, the message making him restless.

Hailey Hill watched Atlas Hallow stride out of the office, sitting there dazed, tears streaming down her face.

Is it now to the point where he can’t bear to look at her anymore?

Today, she didn’t even dare to question him about Charlotte being the surrogate, but he left his office due to impatience.

Things were trickier than she had imagined. If something truly happened to Ava Walker, would she lose all support from the Hallow family?

When Atlas Hallow arrived at the restaurant, it was almost past lunchtime. A waiter came forward to greet him: "Sir, do you have a reservation?"

"No." Atlas Hallow glanced around with his deep eyes. Why did she come to this supposedly most secretive restaurant today? Who did she meet? He was very curious.

"Our chef is already off-duty for a break, might you come another day?" The man appeared cold, carrying an imposing presence—either wealthy or noble—and in the service industry, those are the last people you want to offend, so the server spoke cautiously with a smile.

"I’m not here to eat." Atlas Hallow said coldly, "Where’s your manager?"

Not surprisingly, he wasn’t easy to deal with. The waiter looked at Atlas Hallow’s icy expression and quickly darted off to find their manager.

"Hello, sir, how may I assist you?" The manager, seeing Atlas Hallow’s attire, mustered all his energy.

The watch on this customer’s wrist could buy a restaurant; he must be either wealthy or noble—someone you do not easily offend. This promising city harbors many talents, and yet, this customer seemed familiar, but not from the restaurant. Where had he seen him?

"I want to know, who was the guest spending four thousand five hundred here today? Who were they with?" Inside the exquisite private room, a few plum blossoms stood silently in bloom. The manager had someone serve a cup of tea as Atlas Hallow straightforwardly asked the manager of the restaurant.

"Well... we cannot disclose customer privacy, and we don’t typically know our customers’ names. You see, this is a bit difficult..." The manager stammered; even if he knew, he couldn’t say, otherwise, who would dare come here to dine?

"Is it that you don’t know, or you don’t want to say?" Atlas Hallow sneered coolly, making the manager feel a chill run down his spine, the temperature in the room dropping several degrees.

Staring at this cold, stern man before him, the manager suddenly realized this was Atlas Hallow.

Atlas Hallow, who dominated the business world—his photos recently appeared in the media after a press conference.

Impossible to offend, and if he wanted to know, there’s more than one way he could find out.

The manager bit his lip and instructed someone to call in the waiter from the private room.

"Who dined in room seven today?" The four thousand five hundred expenditure was from room seven. The manager inquired with the two waiters who had served that room earlier.

"It was Miss Miller, along with Jack Smith." One of the waiters answered quietly.

If they weren’t celebrities, they usually wouldn’t know the names, but today’s guest took off the mask, and she recognized Jack Smith right away.

"What did they talk about?" The air carried a chilling voice, like an ice shard piercing everyone’s face—it was painful.

"We didn’t hear. After serving the meal, Miss Miller asked us to leave." The waiter answered honestly, glancing at the manager, and seeing that he seemed just as nervous.

It wasn’t Miss Miller. She’s Mrs. Hallow.

Atlas Hallow stood up, like a fierce storm rolling away with a cold aura.

Relieved, everyone took a deep breath. The manager hoped nothing would go wrong. Could Jack Smith have really seduced this business giant’s wife? That would be catastrophic.

"Where are you?" The car drove down the road as Atlas Hallow quickly spotted Ethan Baird’s company, the most beautiful building on Financial Street—it occupied the top and the most expensive three floors.

"Atlas Hallow, are you suffering from memory loss? Didn’t I tell you I was seeing Ethan today?" Charlotte Miller was in Ethan Baird’s office, discussing some work matters.

"Hmm, I kind of forgot what you were supposed to do." Atlas Hallow’s black eyes flashed with a hint of anger; he drove into the underground parking lot and pressed the elevator button, heading directly to the top floor.

If she dared to lie to him now, he would break her legs and make sure she never left his sight.

"President Hallow, what brings you here?" As Atlas Hallow arrived on the top floor, he was greeted by Annie Gray, Joseph Shaw’s former secretary.

Annie hurried over, speaking to the guards who tried to stop Atlas, "This is President Baird’s esteemed guest, I’ll take him."

If Atlas Hallow came, regardless of an appointment, he couldn’t be stopped; this basic knowledge she still had.

"Sweetheart, what are you thinking?" Ethan Baird waved a finger in front of Charlotte Miller’s eyes, noticing she was distracted—something rare during work. 𝐟𝐫𝕖𝗲𝘄𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝕧𝐞𝚕.𝕔𝕠𝐦

Thinking about what? She hadn’t been thinking about anything—just suddenly sensing a powerful current moving toward her, like wind blowing through unseen clouds...
