Breeding System:My Five Beast Husbands Want Heirs-Chapter 21: Amidst the storm
Hye Yang!" Mira screamed as she ran. Hye turned, shock on her face as she sighted Mira. It was obvious in the shaking of her body.
She did not want to be caught and now, terror was the only thing she felt. And then it hit her. Mira was pregnant. Meaning she would be inevitably weaker. And Hye Yang hated Mira and her pregnancy anyway so she attempted the one solution she could think of at this distressed moment.
She would frame Mira for trying to harm the cub. Without a Mira in the picture.
Hye Yang crept closer to Mira’s body and when Mira was about to get into the river, she pushed with all her might.
Mira’s eyes widened. The force made her feet slippery on the soil and this ruined her momentum. A cry left Mira’s lips as she fell into the river.
She almost choked as the water filled her nose and crept its way into her wind pipe. Mira forced her body up, gasping for air. Hye Yang had committed two treasons in one day. Violation of the beast world code within wild species and trying to harm the mother of a leading clan’s heir and the heir. Death should be the only punishment but that was the least on Mira’s mind. She needed to get out of the river and save the cub.
Water overran her form, sinking her body into the river and pushing her against the water rocks. The torrent was worse than she thought. And she needed to protect both herself and the baby. Mira forced her body up but each time, a wave washed over her.
If a river was this deep and torrent plagued, she did not want to dare see the ocean.
"Lion cub, can you hear me?" Mira screamed, panting hard as she struggled to breathe. She needed to find something to keep her boy afloat. Like a log. A broke one would do.
Another heavy wave. Another stubble. Another fighting to survive. "Lion cub?!! Where are you?" Mira traced her eyes over the river. The cub was no where to be seen. "It’s me! The mother of your tribe. Please answer me so I can save you!" Panic rose. All she heard was water clashing against water violently and against the river shore.
It was possible the river had washed him to somewhere she could not see. The heavy waves made it difficult for Mira to swim but she forced herself to, going against the torrent flow.
Good thing for that special grade skill. It replenished her strength each time fatigue clawed in.
Hye Yang had to go and this time, it was finalised but the first thing Mira had to do was survive. It’s funny though, the times she has death risking tasks, she found herself in deadly situations. It must be a lion cub’s thing because what the heck?
Mira dived into the river, holding her breath as she searched through. Her body sprung back up to catch her breath then she returned back in.
She saw the cub’s body. He was fighting for his life and now fully shifted into a lion cub. Mira wished she could shift. It would make her life a whole lot easier. She dived into the turbulent waters, her hand raised above her head and clapped together to form a spear as she clawed her way through. It was difficult but not impossible.
Mira closed in on the cub. "Grab my hand!" She barked. "And hold onto it as hard as you can even if it grazes my skin." She added. A huge wave was coming and that would separate them for sure. 𝓯𝓻𝓮𝙚𝙬𝓮𝙗𝒏𝙤𝒗𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝒐𝓶
The cub swam to her, trying to reach for her hand. It was crazy. They were so close to each other yet it felt like they were miles apart.
He finally gripped her arm. Mira pulled his weight to her body. Swimming with the weight of two cubs, one heavier than the other, would be tasking. She let the cub rest on her body and settled him above her baby bump.
The cub was terrified. You could tell by the way his body shivered and how aggressively he hung on her body, clutching hard and trying not to let go. Although his hold was weak. He must’ve used most of his strength trying to swim. "You’re safe now. I will get you to safety." Mira assured, stroking his wet fur gently. Now the massive wave that would probably wash them to a different river entirely was coming. Mira gulped.
"System, are there any life saving skills I can purchase? Preferably in this moment?"
The wave washed over her. Whatever she thought it would be before, it proved to be 200% worse. It was strong. The kind that drowned non sea creatures like it warned them that water was not their habitat. It did not take Mira long to realise they were headed to a waterfall.
The crazy turbulence suddenly made sense.
[Yes, host! There are so many life saving and boosting skills that will enhance your performance to manoeuvre the wave.]
And system waited for her to ask before spilling? Sometimes, it was almost as if system wanted her dead.
"Purchase every single skill that will save me. Also a floater big enough for two people, no matter the cost!"
Mira saw a rock poking out of the river. She held a hand out to grab onto it. Her joint felt like it was about to rip apart. From the force of the waves to the boy’s weight on her body and she maintaining her own body weight, she knew she was seconds away from reaching for that waterfall.
She knew she should have hit the gym when she was on earth! Some hand strength would’ve come in handy right about now but all she knew was love calendars and schedules to have her first sex WHICH SHE FAILED AT, by the way.
[Are you sure, host? That will cost you all your system points.]
Am I sure? Bitch, I’m about to die! "Yes!" Mira struggled to say. "And do it quickly!"
[Life saving skills purchased! Every other thing activated! Host is now at strength level of 500% with amplified skills!
Such skills can be used at any time and added to host’s system list and upgrades!
Floater for two also purchased!
Current points balance: zero.]
A big floater popped up around them, already holding them in. Mira felt the strength in her veins. It was a level up for sure. She could beat the waves.
"Don’t be scared and hold onto the balloon." She panted. The child had no idea what that was but gripped the floater. "After this, I will give you some good meat, kiddo!" Mira cheered. It was fleeting but she saw it, a smile across the little lion’s face.
Now, it was time to swim them both into safety. Then deal with her venomous, baby sister.
