Bought For A Baby, Kept For A Lifetime-Chapter 303: Divorced
Anne never knew pregnancy was supposed to feel like this until now. She had thought the hardest parts of being pregnant was morning sickness, not until she was in the later stages of the second trimester several months later.
At first it had felt like the greatest relief from the constant fatigue, morning sickness and dizzy spells, she had also been really fascinated by the tiniest flutters of movements she began to feel in her belly. It was like moments of respite until she was approaching the third trimester.
This time, she was experiencing more back pain, she couldn’t fully sleep well at night, constantly waking up several times for no reason at all.
Elder Sterling had insisted that she needed to move into the Sterling estate as it was a family tradition for every child of the Sterling blood to be born under the family home.
Andrew had given her the option to choose, he had told her that she didn’t have to conform or do anything she didn’t want to do, if she didn’t want to move she could refuse it, however Anne didn’t want to refuse it and didn’t mind moving to the Sterling estate until she gave birth, so she agreed.
Moving into the Sterling estate had been easy, some of the Manor’s staff had been moved with them for her comfort and because she was familiar with them.
Kristen returned to Verizon some days later, fully recovered.
Anne would frequently visit him to help him get settled back in their apartment where he insisted he wanted to be living alone now. But what surprised her was how easily he accepted the fact that she was married now.
He talked about Andrew as if they were close, which made Anne suspect they indeed were closer than it seemed, but how that happened she couldn’t understand at all.
Her days at the Sterling estate were peaceful, since her pregnancy was beginning to reach its later stages, she had taken a lengthy leave from work until after her delivery.
She would spend time everyday having tea with elder Sterling and chatting with the older man who was more than happy to have her company on a daily basis, he seemed to enjoy having her at the estate that he began to quietly think up a way to convince that headstrong grandson of his to live permanently at the estate, after all there was more than enough space for a family of twenty to live at the estate comfortably and there would still be even more space after that.
It pleased Elder Sterling to watch with his own eyes how much his grandson had changed, in the past he would only get reports from butler Jones, but who knew that viewing the real thing was even more astonishing.
The boy who seemed to have arrogance in his veins, would lower it all when his wife was around, for example on a cold morning, he had seen Andrew personally come downstairs himself to have a cup of hot chocolate made for her, but what was even more astonishing was how he had arranged the breakfast tray meticulously by himself after the maids finished preparing the dishes,
"My wife likes ginger tea, her eggs should be scrambled.
"...Yes, more strawberries, she likes them."
Elder Sterling had never seen the boy personally instructing the staff on someone else’s meal before, in fact he wouldn’t give them such detailed instructions on his own meal, yet here he was stating every single one of his wife’s preferences meticulously, it was truly surprising.
The another time when he had chosen not to go to work because Anne had woken up feeling severe back pain which the doctors had confirmed to be normal in her condition. But the boy wouldn’t take a single step away from his wife, carrying out his day’s work at home. Even important meetings, he chose to have them on a video call. Elder Sterling even witnessed several moments Andrew would abandon the video call halfway to rush to Anne’s side if she reached for a glass of water on the table, he would quickly hand it to her before returning to the meeting not caring if the board saw him catering to his wife’s every need.
Also, there were countless times he would be seen holding her bag and her coat whenever they were going out to shop for baby things, and how he would always take notes while the doctors were speaking as if he didn’t want to have room for making a single mistake.
All these things were very astonishing to witness, though elder Sterling knew love would bring a positive change into his life, he would have never thought Andrew would be this captivated, it was a complete change that anyone who knew him previously would never believe.
Elder Sterling wasn’t the only one to witness this change, Donald who also lived at the estate was constantly being subjected to consuming hours of his brother’s heavy affection to his wife.
Whether it was the moments Donald would come downstairs walking into a scene of his brother working on his laptop while Anne laid opposite him on the sofa, and his brother would immediately shut his laptop, abandoning whatever work he was doing just to sit by her feet to massage them until the tension in her body eases and she becomes comfortable again. Or moments he would spend repeatedly clinging to her, hugging her or stealing kisses like an infatuated teenager.
Donald couldn’t take it anymore that someday he confronted Andrew.
"Bro, can you spend one second in a place if Anne isn’t there?"
Andrew had given him a matter of fact look as he uttered unabashedly, "No."
Donald had been momentarily speechless before saying, "Tsk, I know what you are. You are a wife magnet!"
Andrew looked up at him with a smirk, "Talk to me when you have a wife of your own Don, you surely wouldn’t be able to understand when you’ve been single all your life."
His brother was taunting him, it was evident from that look in his eyes but Donald couldn’t even make a single retort.
However, what made it even more unbearable was how Anne was equally as attached to Andrew as well.
Every second it was, my husband this...my husband that. Surely they weren’t the first ever couple to be so hopelessly in love right?
It made Donald feel so left out, as if he was missing out on something.
Who in heaven’s name gave his grandfather the idea to bring the couple here? They would make a single person feel like it was the end of the world.
Some time during their stay at the estate, Anne saw Clara after a long time.
She had come out of Gabriel’s wing at the estate, it was surprising that Gabriel had suddenly moved back into the estate after a long time and Clara wasn’t with him.
That day, Anne had encountered Clara holding onto some documents while her eyes looked so red as if she’d been crying. Clara had halted mid-step when she had seen Anne. At the time, Anne thought Clara would say something to try to piss her off but surprisingly, she looked pitifully meek as she rushed to pass by Anne without saying a word to her. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝚠𝕖𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝕖𝚕.𝚌𝗼𝗺
