Chapter 248: Somewhere

She slowly picked up a cookie and held it up towards his mouth. His lips parted and he took a bite.

Anne could see something in his eyes as he chewed once then halted, however looking in her eyes again and catching the expectant light in them, he continued to eat the bite he had taken fully.

"Apology accepted." He said while suddenly turning to walk away, "Now it’s your turn."

She looked at his retreating figure confusedly, "My turn to do what?"

"You’ll know soon enough." He said as he exited the kitchen picking up a phone call along the way and she heard his voice fade away.

Anne couldn’t help but internally rejoice.

He ate the cookies she made and didn’t look angry about it. Had she successfully replaced that bad memory with a lighter one?

It was a few hours later, Anne finally understood the hidden meaning behind his parting words.

Anne had told butler Jones about how it all went and he’d found it hard to believe her when she told him Andrew had laughed really pleasantly.

"It’s been years since I saw the master laugh genuinely, he does smile from time to time and laugh dryly, but it shouldn’t be anything special, master doesn’t laugh about anything, it’s normal to mistake his sarcasm for happiness sometimes."

No matter how much Anne described it, even if the butler didn’t say it directly, Anne could tell he didn’t really believe her that Andrew had laughed truly happily today, in the end she gave up.

How was she going to prove it when no one else saw it? She could have tried to make him laugh again for butler Jones to see but with Andrew’s unpredictable mood, she was sure it would be absolutely difficult to recreate the moment even if she were to act like a clown with pink checks in front of him again.

She just gave up on telling anyone else about it because they wouldn’t believe her anyway, but the image of his vibrant unbridled smile was still painted in her head she couldn’t forget it.

In the evening, butler Jones suddenly came into her room dropping a fairly large box.

"Master said you should wear this, he’s waiting for you somewhere, the driver will take you there."

Hearing what the butler said, she came to know there was something for her to wear inside the box. Could it be a dress, and was he planning to attend an event with her tonight or something?

Anne looked at the box curiously and then stood up from her seat to open the box butler Jones had kept on her bed.

The outfit in the box was completely out of her expectations, she had thought she would find an evening dress in the box, it turned out to be this...

When Anne came downstairs after getting dressed, all the staff looked at her with curious questions in their eyes.

"Mistress, where are you going all bundled up?" Someone voiced the curious question in everyone’s minds.

Anne was wearing a puffy jacket that almost reached down to her full height and beneath that jacket she was wearing a full outfit.

Anne glared at them playfully for running off and leaving her earlier, but she couldn’t play angry at them and immediately started to take guesses on where Andrew might want to take her tonight dressed like this.

They all speculated about different things. But it all didn’t seem like what Andrew would do.

Someone said he was probably taking her on a movie date, but Anne dismissed that idea. Why would he take her to the theatre to watch a movie when there was a private movie theatre within the manor.

"But master might just want you to experience the romantic feeling of going on a public date." The maid argued.

Anne instantly shook her head because she knew Andrew wouldn’t do that. Apart from the fact that their relationship was peculiar, she didn’t imagine Andrew doing anything remotely romantic.

In the end, no one could decipher the master’s strange thought process, they all waved Anne goodbye as she got in the car outside and the driver drove away.

Anne carelessly watched the scenery outside the window as the car drove along. As buildings began to light up just as evening fell, the change of atmosphere as every natural brightness faded into night. She only realized when the car drove into an underground parking lot that they had come to SE.

What were they doing at the company at this time?

"Why are we at the company?" Anne queried the driver. 𝑓𝑟𝑒𝘦𝓌𝑒𝑏𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝘭.𝒸𝘰𝑚

"It was master’s orders." He replied succinctly before stepping out of the car to go around opening the backdoor for her.

Anne stepped out and smiled gratefully at him.

This giant tornado, he had still come to the company even on a no work day, how obsessed was he with work?

Anne reached the elevator and walked in when it opened up, but what she didn’t expect was for the driver to be following behind her and not only that, he stepped into the elevator with her.

"Master said I should bring you directly to him." He explained to her respectfully as he saw the curiosity in her eyes then went on to press the button for the highest floor.

Anne frowned subtly wondering exactly what Andrew’s intentions were.

The elevator stopped at the highest point of the building, the rooftop, and when the doors slid open, a heavy gust of wind assaulted her along with intense and sharp sounds of blades swirling against the wind making a loud, high pitched buzzing sound.

When the view became clear, Anne saw a gigantic helicopter sitting on the rooftop’s helipad, it wings still whirling atop.

Andrew was standing tall not a long distance away with his back to her, perhaps he had heard the sound of the elevator as he turned in her direction, suddenly extending his hand to beckon her over.

Was he taking her somewhere with him in that helicopter? Was that why he had made her dress like this?

Immediately she stepped out of the elevator, a bone freezing cold assaulted her even with all the layers she was wearing, she was still feeling somewhat cold.

"Where are we going?" She asked with her voice raised because of the loud sound of the wind.

Andrew glanced down at her, grabbing her wrist wordlessly as he led her towards the giant aircraft.

"I don’t make promises I can’t keep Annelise, I’m taking you somewhere I once promised you I would."

Anne followed him, however she was confused.

Taking her somewhere he promised?

Why couldn’t she remember...

Her thought cut short as realization rushed into her like cold and warm water bathing her at once.

She whipped her head up against the wind, staring at his rigid profile, the wind was currently tousling his hair, her heart became erratic.

Was he really taking her there right now?

A mix of anticipation and dread rushed into her.
