Chapter 221: In Love With Her

Gabriel stood outside the elevator’s open doors, stuck in the same spot as if he couldn’t move. His eyes were fixed upon the two people inside the elevator with a mixture of shocked bewilderment. The elevator doors didn’t close due to the safety sensors that detected Gabriel’s presence, leaving him watching something that brought a harsh, choking feeling in his chest.

The girl in his brother’s arms had her back turned to him, but he recognized her figure and the way her wavy brown hair drizzled down her back.

What played out in front of Gabriel’s eyes was a fiery moment that made his heart pound with rage.

Andrew’s lips were firmly pressed to Anne’s mouth, kissing her fiercely in a way that showed a flaming possessiveness. His actions of kissing her, mouth moving dominantly over her own didn’t stop as his eyes opened and an intensely dark gaze was fixed onto Gabriel who involuntarily felt a chill race down his spine immediately such a gaze landed on him.

As Anne struggled to move away knowing someone was watching, Andrew’s hands cradled the back of her head keeping her in place as he kissed her even more fiercely, it was only after a long moment did he let her go, she felt the pressure of his kiss still burning against her lips and her heart still beating erratically as she glared up at him while trying to catch her breath. 𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖

"Why did you do that?" The words exited her mouth softly, the presence of someone being behind her was something she was still aware of.

"I don’t need to have a reason to kiss my wife." His words sounded warm in a way that completely disarmed her all of a sudden. He had called her his wife again and it made her heart immediately skip a beat, warmth flushing her cheeks. Maybe his gentle way of addressing her as his wife had warmed her enough that she almost forgot that there was someone standing behind her.

She heard Andrew chuckle, the sound low yet deep and throaty rumbled out of him as his hand lifted towards her face, lightly pressing the skin of her cheek in a squeezing motion as he muttered, "Peaches."

Anne immediately regained her senses and moved away, finally turning to catch the glimpse of the person who had just found out her secret with Andrew but contrary to her expectations, it wasn’t someone strange but Gabriel Sterling.

Anne was a bit dumbfounded at first to see Gabriel standing there before relief flooded her at once.

So it was him!

It seems she had nothing to worry about then.

She looked back to Andrew who smiled down at her, a faint upward tilt of his usually rigid lips and she almost found herself lost in a daze staring at him for a moment.

Smiling suited him immensely, it made him look different from his usual self that she found herself wondering again what he would look like if he genuinely laughed.

"Want another kiss?" He raised a teasing brow at her and she quickly blurted,

"No!" Then ran out of the elevator with her heart still pounding heavily.

She raised her hand and lightly ran her fingers over her lips still feeling some lingering warmth. A pleasant smile suddenly blossomed on her face, blushing deeply.

Immediately Anne walked away, the temperature in the surroundings turned even chillier.

The warmth that could be seen on Andrew’s face vanished at that very moment and his eyes zeroed onto his elder brother who shook off the look of surprise and concealed the anger that had suddenly bloomed in his heart before stepping into the elevator letting the doors finally close silently.

Both men stood within the space inside the elevator, quietly watching each other through the countless mirrors inside the elevator.

Several seconds passed by in silence before Gabriel’s expression melted into a smirk, however if one looked in his eyes closely, they would see the displeasure hidden within them.

"It seems you either didn’t get my message or you’re choosing to let a woman make a fool out of you."

Something dangerous flashed within Andrew’s dark orbs, but that mysterious light was immediately suppressed by him as he kept a neutral expression.

"You mean your little attempt at getting on my nerves? I know what you were hoping to achieve by sending me that damn picture Gabriel."

"I was just being a good brother, your so called wife was playing around with some man so openly out on the streets. Did you stop to imagine what kind of dirty games she might be playing with him behind closed doors?"

A shuffling sound could suddenly be heard inside the elevator along with a strained groan.

Gabriel didn’t expect to suddenly be pushed, his back landed against the wall and something was tightening around his neck choking him.

Andrew had suddenly become aggressive, shoving him effortlessly and pinning him against the wall, choking his neck with his own neck tie.

"Don’t cross the line brother, you know what I am capable of." Andrew’s voice was firm and commanding, his eyes growing darker and darker each passing second. His aura was cold and rippling with suppressed anger.

Despite feeling uncomfortable with his tie almost completely cutting off his breath, Gabriel scoffed,

"So you don’t believe it even if you saw the picture." Gabriel’s voice was strained due to the tightness around his throat. He looked into Andrew’s dark eyes and slowly, something seemed to piece together in his mind,

"Of course you wouldn’t want to believe it, she’s got you wrapped around her finger now. You...are you actually in love with her?"

Gabriel had the answer to that question despite the fact that he had just asked, he attempted to laugh but his neck tie still choking him made him cough instead, his eyes turning slightly red, "So it wasn’t a cover up marriage after all, she actually broke you into falling for her."

"Your thoughts and opinions don’t matter one single bit to me Gabriel, but get this clear, try to set her up one more time and I will ruin you. Heck if you so much as look at her..." Andrew’s ominous warning faded away, his words trailing off as he visibly struggled to contain his rage.

He hated that for a single moment he had almost believed what he saw in that picture. Andrew had always been a rational person, but seeing another man’s hand wrapped around Anne’s wrist had almost made him lose his mind.

When he turned and saw her behind him at that time, he couldn’t describe the kind of feeling in his chest. It was a painful mix of agony and possessiveness that began to stir up a wild kind of anger within him if he hadn’t clamped it down. If he hadn’t looked into her eyes and felt those sunset eyes slowly ease the rising anger in his chest.

It was a feeling that had only lasted a moment, the rage, it had only lasted a moment and with her in front of him at the time, he suddenly realized he couldn’t feel rage towards her. Immediately in that moment he had decided, he would believe her, he would trust her and not some damn picture, definitely not one sent by Gabriel of all people. He wasn’t gullible enough to fall for his brother’s provocation because he knew clearly what Gabriel’s intentions were.

Gabriel had wanted to get to him, but what made it infuriating was the fact that Gabriel had chosen to use Anne.

Right now in his life, Anne was one of the parts of his life he couldn’t stand anyone messing with, and hell be damned if the person was his own brother, he didn’t care, he would ruin anyone that dared to target her.

"Keep my wife out of your dirty plans."

Gabriel was suddenly shoved back and the choking feeling finally left him making him cough to regain his breathing back to normal but the cough eventually turned into laughter he didn’t realize when the elevator doors dinged and by the time he raised his head, Andrew was gone.

"Your wife?" Gabriel muttered laughingly to the empty space where Andrew had just left, there was something awfully bitter behind the sound of his laughter, "You really fell for her."

Gabriel couldn’t believe this was the outcome of the image he had sent to Andrew.

His brother’s ego used to make him a monster ruled by blind rage, was love enough to tame that monster?

Love...

Gabriel’s eyes turned hard as he glared at the elevator doors that were now slowly closing.

"Careful brother, falling in love might feel nice right now, but it could also be your greatest weakness."

The look in Gabriel’s mind suggested a thoughtful plan taking shape in his mind, something destructive.
