There was very little information about Michael Sterling out to the general public.
The only thing people knew about him was the fact that he used to be a Casanova, and that kind of lifestyle had led him to have three sons all from different women.
The first time, he brought back a pregnant woman with him claiming he was going to make her his wife. Alina Jensen was Gabriel Sterling’s mother. She used to be a materialistic woman who found joy in collecting luxury items, the last name Sterling had been so enticing that it fuelled her desire for power enough to give her all the luxury she could ever want in life.
Servants who used to work for the Sterling’s at the time were the only ones who witnessed the legendary falling out between Michael Sterling and the first woman he ever brought home, and it had happened when Alina found out Michael had another woman behind her back. A mistress he kept at a hidden villa. Andrea Walters.
Andrea was a rising star at the time, her voice praised by all who listened. Michael being one of her sponsors eventually crossed the professional boundary with her.
During the time, Alina had been eight months into her pregnancy when Michael slapped a blank cheque to her face telling her that he no longer had feelings for her, because Andrea Walters had captivated his heart.
Alina knew in that moment that she couldn’t choose wrongly for herself, not when Andrea was also said to be a few months pregnant at the time as well.
The position of Mrs Sterling promised wealth and luxury, but Alina had already lost that position as Micheal Sterling no longer favored her. If she continued to fight it, in the end he would toss her aside like a used rag and probably end up making Andrea his wife, by then she would have lost completely.
Having thought of that, Alina decided to take the cheque walking out of Micheal Sterling’s life completely, not until a few months later when she returned to deliver the child she’d given birth to, to it’s father then left with enough wealth to enjoy for the rest of her life.
When Andrea was in her last stages of pregnancy, she was moved into the Sterling estate.
Many of the servants knew her history. She came from low backgrounds, a singer from a lower class, poor background who managed to use her voice to gain some recognition but without true power, even talent could be absolutely nothing at all. In the end she had to cling onto some people in power to maintain her career.
No one knew if it was luck or destiny that led her to eventually meet Micheal Sterling, but she ended up becoming the second woman to have his child.
People would describe Andrea’s personality to be quiet and calm, she wasn’t openly greedy like Alina had been, she was calm and calculating.
Her most powerful weapon was her irresistible beauty and quiet softness, but beneath that gentle exterior was a cunning woman who recognized what power wealth could bring and coveted it.
Everyone witnessed how effortlessly she seemed to have Micheal Sterling wrapped around her finger back then, she’d lasted the longest as his woman, and was the very first to even get an engagement ring out of him.
She stayed for five long years with him before things started to go south.
A man, no matter how grounded he seemed would never let go of bad habits, and the bad habit of womanizing ended up catching up to Micheal again after a drunken night on a business trip, he met Maria Scott, a young and beautiful model he ended up spending a night with, but that one night of mistake became something more as upon his arrival, Michael requested a nullification of his engagement to Andrea Walters, because apparently Maria was the kind of woman of his dreams, the one he’d been waiting for all his life, the woman who changed the fun seeker in him hence he declared he’d fallen deeply in love with her.
For a man who has known many women, love becomes an easy word to use.
Andrea Walters was cast aside as well, just like Alina had been before her, and afterwards Maria took her place.
Andrea went on to abandon her son to the Sterlings as well moving on to live her own life.
For a few years, many actually began to feel convinced that Michael Sterling had indeed become a changed man. The relationship between him and Maria made many envious.
Maria began to be expected to play the role of a mother to the two boys, her own son came afterwards, neither was she a mother to her own son, nor to her husband’s previous sons. All her time was dedicated to seeking her husband’s attention and validation out of fear that someday, she would be forgotten too.
She dressed only the way he liked, never wearing anything for herself only to satisfy him and keep him attracted to her, she spent everyday by his side, never once glancing at the boys not to mention being a mother to them.
In the end, no matter what she did, she couldn’t keep the man. His old habits acted up again, and he became tired of her.
It was said that when men have commitment issues, not even heaven coming down to earth could stop them from wanting to chase the carefree life, they could suppress their habits as long as they possibly could, but they can never kill the habit, it would still live on somewhere in the recesses of their souls.
The case was especially true for Micheal Sterling.
In the end he had three sons, neither of which he’d ever stopped to act as a father to, nor did he ever walk the altar to vow forever with a woman.
Whenever Elder Sterling looked at his own son even now, he could only see his own father. Perhaps it was true that one could never fully run away from their blood.
And that blood had seeped into his first grandson Gabriel. Andrew however...
The older man glanced at his second grandson, the latter’s face had hardened like stone.
"You were never there when your sons needed you in their lives Michael, what made you ever think you would be included in a monumental event in your son’s life like marriage?" Elder Sterling spoke up, his voice held a calm pitch yet there was an incredibly strict tone laced within.
Both men were a very strikingly similar image of one another.
"Come on Dad, no matter what happens, my son’s will always be mine. And the issues of the past are long gone, we can’t keep bringing them up again. I’m back now to rectify everything, but you said one thing wrongly...the future matriarch of this family won’t be my son’s wife."
Elder Sterling’s eyes narrowed and the second branch Sterling family members all exchanged bewildered looks.
Michael Sterling had been gone for years, having taken over the Sterling businesses abroad, he had indicated that he’d been very satisfied to live far away from Verizon and most assumed he would never come back.
He was suddenly back this time, would he refuse to accept his son’s wife?
Michael let his eyes meet with his son’s dark ones, he smirked mysteriously.
The fire in the boy’s eyes reminded him of an old flame, the woman he’d almost made his wife once before. It was amusing how he took a lot after the woman more than him.
"Andrew!" Michael called the boy’s name with an enthusiastic pride in his voice.
"My dear boy, you’re all grown up. You have a wife now. These past few years you’ve had to take on a lot of responsibilities, it has been hard on you, it has been hard on all three of you, but I’m back now son, I’ll take all the hardship away from your shoulders. Just as I’ll give you and your brothers something I’ve deprived you of for a very long time."
No one could tell what Andrew was thinking as he remained quiet as his father continued to speak. He didn’t move nor make a sound, but the two men from the second family branch looked at the young man nervously, a very dangerous air was spilling from him.
"Dad, the future matriarch of the Sterling family.... just came home with me this morning. You’ve always wanted me to get married right?" As Micheal said this, he glanced towards the entrance of the dining hall.
"Darling." He called and immediately his voice fell, the sound of heels clanking against the floors could be heard.
The woman that sauntered into the hall had very attractive features, she looked to be in her late thirties but her aura held a magnetic and seductive air.
Michael looked proudly at the woman as she came to stand by his side with a smile on her face.
"Dad, everyone, meet my lovely wife Jennifer. She will be the mistress of the whole Sterling empire right by my side. I’m back to take over the Sterling Enterprises."
