Chapter 137: Ravished

That little action of clenching her robe and the nervous shade of color on her cheeks were something Andrew didn’t miss.

A subtle smile appeared on his lips as he turned to her. The moment he leaned towards her ever so slightly, she quickly leaned backwards.

"Do you not know what a wedding night is?"

She blinked, her sparkling brown eyes staring at him warily like a cornered deer. It felt quite enjoyable seeing her like this.

"Of...of course I do, but..."

"Good." As he approached her, she retreated, taking several steps back. A smirk spread across his face, and he continued to close in on her, her backward steps matching his forward strides.

"That means you know what’s supposed to happen on a night like this." His voice had lowered into an intimate whisper and the bright red that colored her cheeks truly did amuse him of how easy it was to make her feel flustered.

Her back hit a wall and her brown eyes widened with realization that she currently had nowhere to go from here.

His right palm flattened on the wall right above her head. 𝕗𝚛𝚎𝚎𝐰𝗲𝗯𝗻𝚘𝚟𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝕞

"A night like...this?" She dazedly repeated his words and he wanted to see how far he could push this little game, how much redder her face could get, how much more flustered she could get and if beneath that nervousness he could see a glimpse of desire awaken.

The cat-and-mouse dynamic was almost playful in a way that kept him fully entertained.

"Many things happen on a night like this, it all depends on the number of steps."

"What steps?" If his voice was a low rumble of an intimate whisper, hers was a nervous little squeak.

She flinched ever so slightly when his fingers moved a few strands of hair away from her face to tuck behind her ears, the action extremely slow and drawn out he heard her breath hitch with the faintest touch of his finger to her skin. He enjoyed how supple her skin felt to the touch, it was like brushing against the smoothest silk.

"Your curious little questions...have you heard the term curiosity kills a cat? Let’s change the phrase in this case, shall we?"

He enjoyed watching how her chest rose and fell as her breathing turned heavy, but she continued to clutch her robes together, her fingers tightening around them never letting go, it made him curious as to what she was hiding beneath that robe.

He leaned closer and her eyes shut on instinct, but his lips hovered close to her ear,

"Curiosity, gets the little cat ravished."

Her eyes snapped open and she pushed against him to escape, she slid away with the speed of prey getting a chance to escape.

"If you run I’ll catch you, and once I do you’re mine to do as I please." He said after her and she stopped abruptly, whirling to look at him.

To his satisfaction her face was already as red as an overripe tomato.

"If I catch you, you’re mine." His tone was provocatively low, and even with the distance between them there seemed to be a singeing electricity between them.

Her lashes shook nervously and the moment he took a step to approach her she turned and hurriedly fled like someone escaping for their life.

Why did it feel extremely entertaining to tease her.

He strolled casually out the drawing room and she was nowhere to be seen, she’d made her escape quite hastily.

But was there anywhere she could hide and he wouldn’t be able to find find her?

Anne couldn’t think of anything else to do but to escape.

In a single moment he seemed to have hypnotized her, a subtle touch, the feel of his warm breath, and his magnetic voice had all seemed to spun her into feeling this way.

She pressed her back against the wall in a hidden corner and didn’t make a sound.

She hadn’t gone far from the drawing room at all, but he would think she had and once he was gone, she would run back into her room and shut the door then curl herself up so he wouldn’t make her heart explode with his words and actions.

Even now her heart was thundering and she could hear it loud in her ears, if other people could hear someone else’s heartbeat, she was sure hers would give her away and he would find her in an instant.

’If I catch you, you’re mine.’

Recalling those words seemed to give her heart more reason to beat even faster.

She didn’t think of tonight as a designated wedding night, so why had things gone in this direction.

The sound of his footsteps made her hold her breath, it was slow and calculated as if he knew she was close by but then the footsteps quickened and she glimpsed his shoes as he passed by.

After a while Anne let out a sigh of relief when she could no longer hear his footsteps. He must have gone far.

’If you run I’ll catch you, and once I do you’re mine to do as I please.’

It seemed he wouldn’t be catching her tonight after all, she could go back to her room and hide away for the rest of the night.

Patting her chest reassuringly so her racing heart could get calm, Anne let out a few deep breaths, then for added safety waited a bit longer listening for any sounds to make sure no one was truly around where she was, what if he left and actually came back?

She fully confirmed he was indeed gone when she no longer heard any sound. The hallway was completely silent and still.

With careful steps, Anne finally left her hiding place, she immediately began to make for the way they’d come to trace back to her room, however mid walking, Anne suddenly came to an abruptly halt.

She felt something...an unmistakable presence.

A look of dread showed on her face as she slowly turned to look behind her.

In the shadows along the hallway, a figure stood with his back leaned against the wall, one knee curled to have the foot placed on the wall.

He tilted his head to her direction and Anne gasped inaudibly.

He was still here?

An evil smirk sat on his face like a predator who’d patiently waited for it’s prey to burrow out of it’s hole so he could catch it.

Anne couldn’t even speak or move as he moved away from the wall, walking with lithe steps in her direction.

Her feet were fixed to the floor and she could no longer take another step.

"You didn’t actually think I wouldn’t be able to catch you did you?"

Anne’s lips fell open, her neck craning as he got closer.

He didn’t even give her a chance to say anything. One minute she was standing in front of him and the next, she had been swept off the floor. She could only grab onto the nearest thing to steady herself from falling, she only realized a second later that she was holding onto him and he currently carried her, striding away like someone carrying their prize in their arms.
