Chapter 113: A Model?

He watched her cheeks go red, her gaze instantly shifting away from his, understanding on what she meant about the contract instantly dawned on him.

He turned to face her, seeing as the red coloring her cheeks flamed deeper, it brought a striking amusement into him making him begin to take slow, deliberate steps towards her.

She seemed to panic even more seeing him approaching her, he watched as her eyes darted as if looking for something to say to divert what she’d said earlier.

"Uhm... what I meant was..." Before she could fully find the words, he’d reached her, the distance between them barely enough to let her catch her breath.

She craned her neck up to look at him, her eyes big and wide.

Whenever she gazed up at him with such widened eyes, she reminded him of a cornered cat.

Her reaction was endearing, in a way one wouldn’t expect. He never understood the perception of people who would happily gaze upon an animal and call it adorable until this expression on her face.

It made one feel the irresistible urge to pinch her reddened cheeks knowing that the feel of her skin to the touch was akin to smooth silk, yet bouncy and soft. He wouldn’t raise a finger to touch her, not when he knew the effect it would have on him.

Hence, he kept his hands behind his back, palm crossed over the other as he leaned down seeing her eyes widen further, he uttered,

"Right, the contract. What about it?"

The light tone in his voice seemed to further make her nervous, just from looking in her eyes he could visibly see that she would take back the statement about the contract if she could turn back the hands of time. Yet words he’d already heard couldn’t be taken back, but he could use them to see how red her face would get, the sight pleased him.

"Uhm... nothing at all, I was just saying..."

"You were talking about the copulation, is that right?"

"No!" She blurted out hastily, firming her expression she added, "No, I wasn’t talking about that."

His seductive lips concealed behind the mask raised in a faint smirk.

"Are you sure?" He probed, seeing the hitch in her breath indicating that she was definitely lying.

"Of course, why would I mention that?"

She bit her lip as if in regret of what she’d just said and the faint smirk on his face became a smile, one he couldn’t help.

"You aren’t eager for us to fulfill that contract clause, are you?"

"Not at all, I... there’s still time, it can happen whenever it does..." She used that chance to move away, evading his wide body in front of her she slipped away turning her back to keep her expression from him while fiddling with some flowers kept in a vase nearby.

He stilled, something she’d said had struck him.

Time, she’d said.

There’s still time...

The time they had was precisely eight months.

Eight months from now would be the end of everything, the end of the contract, the end of her presence in his life and the end of whatever attraction he felt for her.

Exactly eight months from now. But she didn’t know that yet, she didn’t know that right now, growing inside her, was his...

Those thoughts trailed off.

He could only stare at her back, the tumble of wavy brown hair, and small fragile looking shoulders.

Once the set time for her in his life was up he would be himself again, without anything or anyone to cause even the faintest ripple of emotion within him, his grandfather would have the grandchild he so desperately desired and he would have the company he’d always wanted, his greatest goal.

"Go to bed now, if you need anything, ask Butler Jones."

Uttering those words, he turned his back and strode away. Anne whirled at this moment, watching him leave, a thoughtful expression showing on her face.

.....

Verizon city airport.

A man could be seen exiting the airport’s sliding doors, his gait exuded an enchanting charisma. His rugged features were tempered with a subtle softness that captivated the eye.

His appearance drew attention from several people passing by, all stopping to take a picture thinking he was undoubtedly a celebrity.

Not bothered by the attention he was receiving, the man stopped to look down at the sleek watch around his wrist, before retrieving his phone to make a call as he stepped into the waiting black Mercedes S class, with the driver holding the backdoor open for him.

"Mr Foxx?" A surprised feminine voice sounded over the phone, "You’re not using your international number, does that mean that..."

"I’m back Vivian, I need all the updates from when I was gone."

The woman over the phone couldn’t keep her amazement hidden.

The whole of Verizon would be taken by storm by this news.

Nathan Foxx was back, this was something they didn’t anticipate for the next two years.

After the scandal back then, many had assumed he wouldn’t return at all.

Nathan Foxx was the founding CEO of Sapphire Beauty, a highly demanded luxury company that specializes in the beauty industry.

Each year, one new product is released by SB, and that product usually takes the entire country by storm, but it is produced in limited stock, hence only the people in high places could get to purchase their products.

Despite the scandal two years ago involving Nathan, the whole world didn’t care about it and it didn’t affect the massive demand for the company’s merchandise.

SB could have been named the top in the entire industry if it weren’t for this other company that currently occupied the spot. Sterling Enterprises, the global company whose branch in the beauty industry dominated any other company.

"This year, I’m aiming for the very top. This new line I have in plans is going to get us there." Nathan spoke to the voice over the phone, a confident glint shining in his eyes.

"The top spot? But Mr Foxx we’ve never once gotten there before, and we’re doing fine as number two. Though you haven’t been here our company has been thriving, we can’t compete head to head with SE." Vivian was Nathan’s secretary who had worked with him for a very long time.

"The game is to beat the company at the top, so why can’t we compete head to head? SE is releasing this year’s products very soon, the only way to beat them is to launch ours immediately after theirs. Prepare everything we’ll be needing for a swift launch, this time, I won’t fail."

He hung up the call, a sharp look visible in his eyes.

Two years ago they tried to ruin him, it was only right he repaid the favor.

At first glance one would see a harmlessly attractive young man, however right now Nathan’s gaze was cunning and deadly, evidently showing a seething hatred from within.

However, the hatred on his face went stiff in an instant, his gaze directed out the windows slowly becoming enthralled.

"Stop the car." He swiftly instructed the driver who came to a sharp halt with a look of bewilderment on his face.

Why was his boss making him stop here at High square? Cars were whooshing by and he had to move aside to find a place to park, but to his surprise, his boss stepped out of the car even before the car was fully parked.

The driver watched him gaze upon the large billboard that showed a mesmerizing image of a beautiful woman, only then did the driver sigh exasperatedly shaking his head.

Now he understood, his boss saw a beautiful woman.

And the driver couldn’t think of any other person who appreciated a beautiful woman other than his boss. 𝗳𝗿𝐞𝕖𝘄𝗲𝕓𝗻𝚘𝚟𝕖𝐥.𝚌𝕠𝕞

"Fabian." The driver was alerted when he heard his name being called.

"Yes boss."

"Who is she?" Not once did his gaze tear away from the flashy billboard, his entranced eyes remained fixed, as if looking away for even a moment would break him out of a beautiful trance.

"I’m not sure sir, I think she’s a model." The driver humbly replied.

"I have eyes, I can see. I’m asking who she is, her name, details about her."

The driver parted his mouth to reply, but knowing he had none of the information his boss just asked for, he changed his mind by pulling out his phone and saying instead,

"I’ll find out, please give me a minute."

The driver went on to do a quick search about the model on the High square billboard, but nothing came to light. However, he found the company name and he was sure it wasn’t something his boss would be pleased to hear.

"Boss, there is currently no information about that model online."

Nathan frowned thoughtfully.

"No information at all?" He asked and the driver nodded,

"It only means she’s new, or she might not be a model at all." He muttered to himself but the driver suddenly interrupted his thoughts.

"But there’s something..."

Nathan swiftly turned a questioning gaze to the driver.

"It’s Sterling Enterprises, I think that’s a foreshadow to the launch of their new product. If I’m not wrong, they recently released an ad for it."

Hearing the name Sterling Enterprises, Nathan’s expression frosted over.

"So it’s them."

The driver stood by awkwardly, knowing that just the mention of that company would put his boss in a terrible mood.

Turning decisively Nathan strode for his car.

"Find out who that girl is, SE or not I want her signed over to us."
