Born Into Villain's Family: I Have a 200\% Rebate System-Chapter 539: Confront
"If that is the case, then let me show you what it means to meet someone worse."
By now, Selin felt as if her legs could no longer support her weight.
Aurora straightened and took her hand, almost politely.
"You don’t look well," she said with a pleasant smile. "Let me see you out."
Selin did not resist. The strength had drained from her completely.
Aurora led her out of the venue, the lively music fading behind them, replaced by the cold quiet of the night air. Outside, the faint smell of rain lingered on the wind.
She opened the car door and calmly guided Selin inside.
As Selin settled into the seat, Aurora looked at her one last time.
"Hopefully," Aurora said, "we never meet again."
Selin said nothing. She watched Aurora walk away, her hands trembling uncontrollably, only after the figure disappeared.
She pressed a hand to her racing heart.
"It’s fine... I won’t go back. It’s over."
Yet bitterness still filled her chest.
’Why does Selena always end up with people like this? Why is she always surrounded by those who protect her so fiercely?’
.............
Meanwhile, Mia and Selena entered a private room. The moment the door closed, the noise from outside vanished, leaving behind an almost suffocating silence.
Selena looked at Mia, who refused to meet her eyes.
"What happened?" Selena asked gently.
Mia pressed her lips together before speaking.
"You see Aurora as a friend, don’t you?"
Selena nodded.
"And you know she doesn’t have feelings for you."
Selena nodded again, confused.
Mia finally turned toward her, her eyes clouded with emotion.
"Then why," she whispered, "couldn’t I stand seeing you two together? I was... unbelievably jealous."
Hearing those words, Selena almost felt joy overflow in her chest like sparkling champagne ready to spill. Her heart leapt, warmth spreading through her veins.
’She was jealous... because of me.’
But just as that sweetness began to bloom, Aurora’s final words echoed in her mind.
’Confront the problem.’
The three words rang clearly, steady and unavoidable.
Selena looked at Mia, whose eyes were still slightly red from suppressed emotion, and spoke carefully.
"If you truly feel insecure," she began, her voice steady despite the tremor in her heart, "then from now on... I won’t contact Aurora anymore."
The air in the room seemed to freeze.
Mia’s face lost color instantly, her expression stiffening as if someone had peeled away all emotion and left behind stone.
"It’s not like that," Mia said quickly, shaking her head. "I didn’t mean..."
Before she could finish, Selena interrupted gently but firmly.
"There’s a condition," she said.
Mia blinked. "A condition?"
Selena met her eyes directly.
"If that’s the case, then you shouldn’t contact Selin anymore either."
Mia stared at her in disbelief.
"Why are you making such an unreasonable demand?" she asked, confusion and frustration mixing in her tone.
At first, Selena wanted to remain silent.
She had never been good at explaining her fears; they felt childish, ugly, irrational. But this time, she forced herself to speak.
She told Mia everything.
She spoke of childhood memories, of things taken away effortlessly, of watching Selin stand above her like an untouchable queen.
She confessed how seeing Mia laugh with Selin tonight had made her chest tighten painfully, how fear had clawed at her lungs, whispering that history would repeat itself.
By the time she finished, tears shimmered openly in her eyes.
"I understand if you don’t feel insecure the way I do," Selena said softly.
"Maybe you don’t understand my fear. But I can say one thing for sure. I was jealous. I was scared. So next time... if possible, don’t contact Selin in front of me."
Mia stood there quietly, guilt slowly washing over her.
She had never imagined her own girlfriend carried so much weight inside her heart.
Without another word, Mia stepped forward and wrapped her arms around Selena tightly.
The embrace was warm and grounding, smelling faintly of perfume and the champagne she had earlier.
"I’m sorry," Mia whispered.
That simple apology felt like a soothing balm to Selena’s aching heart.
Selena hugged her back, holding her as though afraid she might disappear.
"I won’t contact her again," Mia murmured against her shoulder. "I promise. I didn’t realize how much this hurt you. I didn’t know Selin was so manipulative."
Selena’s lips curved faintly.
Her heart felt reassured at last.
’At least my wife won’t look in that direction again.’
Yet deep inside, she felt grateful toward Aurora.
If Aurora had not intervened tonight, she would have swallowed her insecurity in silence and smiled like nothing was wrong.
Just as the couple leaned closer, about to seal the moment with a kiss, a knock echoed sharply against the door.
Then Aurora’s teasing voice followed.
"I know you two are busy with adult activities, but perhaps you should get engaged first. Otherwise, I might have to witness your wedding vows right here."
Both Mia and Selena burst into laughter, the tension finally dissolving completely.
They stepped out, and Aurora rolled her eyes dramatically.
"Come on. The guests are waiting."
She led them downstairs, where the hall shimmered under golden chandeliers.
The engagement took place, and both Mia and Selena felt that it was perfect.
When it ended, Mia and Selena stood glowing with happiness, fingers intertwined, smiles uncontainable.
As the crowd dispersed, Mia stopped Aurora.
There was faint shame in her eyes.
"I... I was really petty tonight," Mia admitted quietly.
"You arranged everything for us. You made sure this engagement would be unforgettable. And yet I acted childishly and even stopped Selena from being close to you. I was shameless."
She lowered her gaze and murmured, "I’m sorry."
Aurora waved her hand dismissively.
"As long as there’s no distance between you and Selena, that’s enough for me."
She glanced at the time.
"It’s getting late. I’ll leave first."
Mia and Selena nodded, watching her walk away.
After she disappeared into the night, Mia turned to Selena.
"If we get the chance someday, we should repay Aurora."
Selena nodded without hesitation.
’If she hadn’t been here tonight... I don’t know how long I would have suffered silently.’
.........................................
Meanwhile, Aurora stepped outside, the cool night air brushing against her face.
But even she was not free from her own turmoil.
Lately, she had begun to miss Spencer more often.
As her siblings and friends got engaged one after another, she found herself wondering,
’When will it be our turn?’
She took a deep breath and sent him a message.
"I miss you."
She waited. Minutes passed. Then more minutes. No reply.
Aurora sighed softly.
’Is it night over there?’
When she checked the time difference, she realized it was indeed late on his side. Shaking her head at herself, she decided she would video call him in the morning instead.
...............................
The next morning, Eleanor invited Theodore to meet her at a grand mansion.
By now, Theodore knew her true nature. The sweetness she displayed hid something poisonous beneath.
He did not hesitate.
He blocked her number immediately.
However, he underestimated her persistence.
Moments later, his phone rang again from an unknown number.
Theodore’s irritation flared instantly.
Still, a faint worry crossed his mind. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝙬𝙚𝓫𝒏𝓸𝓿𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝙤𝓶
’What if it’s important or some casting call?’
Reluctantly, he picked up.
On the other end, Eleanor’s soft voice trembled.
"I know my actions hurt you. But Theodore... at least give me one more chance."
Inside, Theodore felt nothing but cold exhaustion.
"All the chances you had ended long ago," he replied flatly. "If you continue harassing me, I won’t hesitate to report you to the police."
Silence lingered on the line.
Eleanor had never imagined that the man who once loved her deeply would one day remain unmoved by her sobbing.
After a long pause, she inhaled shakily.
"I know I look terrible in your eyes. Just meet me one last time. I promise after that, I’ll cut off all contact myself."
"I’m not interested," Theodore said firmly.
He hung up before she could continue.
Just as he was about to toss his phone aside in frustration, a message notification appeared.
At first, he did not want to look.
But curiosity slowly drew his eyes to the screen.
The moment he saw the image, his expression changed completely.
His eyes widened.
In the picture, there was a pale hand.
Across the wrist ran a deep, fresh cut, crimson blood trailing down delicate skin.
The moment Theodore saw the blood seeping from the pale wrist in the photograph, his heart dropped violently against his ribs. The crimson line was unmistakable, and so was the small sun tattoo just below it.
It was Eleanor.
There was no doubt.
His fingers tightened around the phone.
"Where are you?" he typed immediately, his hands trembling despite his attempt to remain calm.
A location was sent within seconds.
Without wasting another moment, he called his driver.
"Take me here. Now."
His voice was sharp enough to slice through steel.
It was not love that propelled him forward.
