Chapter 499: Chapter 499: Arrogant

The man puffed out his chest and spoke as if he were doing them a great favor.

"I’m being generous here," he declared. "As long as you agree, everyone will have a nice day."

His proposal was simple, almost laughable.

He wanted to take over the venue before Adam and Mary, claiming it for his own wedding with his so-called beloved wife.

In exchange, he was willing to pay two million dollars.

To most people, that amount would have been staggering. Life-changing.

But to Aurora and the others, it meant nothing.

Aurora’s eyes narrowed slightly.

’Our parents’ wedding is not something that can be bought,’ she thought.

Without hesitation, she rejected him. "No," she replied flatly. "We can’t do that."

The others echoed her refusal, their stance firm and unyielding.

The man’s face darkened, but he did not back down.

Instead, he sneered. "You wouldn’t even know how to make proper use of a place like this," he scoffed.

"Your decorations will be average at best." His gaze swept over them with open disdain.

"People like you, who only recently became rich, should learn the difference between novice wealth and real old money."

Olivia paused for a few minutes, forcing herself to breathe slowly.

Her temper, which had flared instinctively, gradually cooled as she recalled the lessons drilled into her during her years in the special service agency.

’Some people provoke on purpose,’ she reminded herself, her fingers curling slightly before relaxing.

’Our duty isn’t to lose control. It’s to return the blow cleanly, precisely, and in a way they’ll never forget.’

With that realization settling in her chest, Olivia smiled.

The smile was calm, polite, and sharp enough to cut.

"If you truly belong to old money," she drawled, her tone light yet mocking, "then why couldn’t you book the venue before us?"

The man stiffened for a fraction of a second before schooling his expression into composure.

"I recently decided to get married," he replied calmly, his voice measured, as if rehearsed. "So..."

Before he could finish, Olivia cut in smoothly, her heels tapping against the marble floor as she tilted her head.

"Then you truly don’t understand what it means to be decisive," she remarked, her eyes glinting.

"Who decides to get married just a few days before the date?" She let out a soft scoff.

"Not to mention, how can you be sure a decision made in such a hurry is even the right one? If I were in your place, I’d be worried."

As she spoke, she even wore an expression of fake concern, brows knitting together as if she genuinely cared, though her eyes betrayed nothing but amusement.

Nearby, Aurora watched the performance with barely concealed delight, her lips twitching as she fought the urge to clap.

’Well done,’ she thought, practically itching to give Olivia a thumbs-up.

Judging by the subtle nods and suppressed smiles around her, all the siblings shared the same sentiment.

The man, however, felt rage surge through his chest like a sudden fire.

His jaw tightened, but he forced himself to remain calm.

"Some decisions," he replied slowly, "are only meant to be taken at the right time. And we were in a relationship for the past three years."

Olivia nodded thoughtfully, as if agreeing.

"Then you should have waited for the right moment to get married," she countered smoothly.

"After all, if you were patient enough to wait three years for your girlfriend, you can surely wait a few moments more."

At those words, the man ground his teeth, the sound almost audible.

He glared at her, eyes darkening.

"Listen, girl," he snapped, the politeness finally cracking,

"I’m not here to argue. I’m here to make an offer. If you like it, you accept it and take the money. If you don’t..." his voice dropped threateningly, "...then I’ll force you to learn what obedience looks like in front of people you can’t raise your voice against."

Olivia laughed, the sound clear and unbothered, echoing faintly in the hall.

"Do you even know who you’re talking to?" she asked, her gaze steady and fearless.

The man frowned deeply, suspicion flickering across his face.

In response, Olivia calmly reached into her pocket and pulled out her ID card, holding it up just long enough for him to see.

For the first time, Aurora leaned forward slightly, her interest fully piqued.

Until now, she had often believed that money alone could make waves, but Olivia’s words and confidence made hern curious.

Sure enough, the moment the man recognized the ID, his expression froze.

Finally, he scoffed weakly. "I’ll let this go," he muttered stiffly. 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ𝑤𝑒𝑏𝑛𝘰𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝒸𝑜𝘮

"After all, you were the ones at fault. Otherwise, I would’ve taught you a proper lesson."

With that hollow declaration, he turned on his heel and walked away.

Aurora couldn’t help herself anymore.

She gave Olivia a thumbs-up and grinned. "You looked terrifyingly domineering today."

Olivia laughed, shaking her head as a hint of relief crossed her face.

"I didn’t do it to look domineering," she replied. "I just couldn’t tolerate that man’s attitude."

Hearing that, everyone nodded in agreement.

Meanwhile, Lucas stared at the man’s retreating back, his gaze dark and thoughtful.

Adriana noticed and nudged him lightly. "What are you looking at?" she asked curiously.

Lucas shook his head slowly. "Men like that," he said quietly, "are often the ones who cause trouble later."

At those words, several of them exchanged uneasy glances.

Even Axel nodded solemnly. "Lucas is right," he chimed in seriously.

"That man might even try to get Olivia removed from her position."

Olivia frowned slightly, her expression turning troubled for the first time.

Aurora, however, chuckled softly.

"He won’t be able to do anything," she said confidently.

It wasn’t arrogance that fueled her words, but certainty.

She knew that beyond money, she possessed another skill... hacking.

’If he dares cross the line,’ she thought coldly, ’I’ll make sure he regrets it.’

Once the wedding concluded, the Waters family immersed themselves in various activities, using the lively events as a way to cool down and shake off the stress that had piled up over time.

Amid all this, Adam and Mary noticed subtle changes.

They observed that both Adriana and Aurora frequently glanced at their phones, smiles appearing and disappearing like secrets.

Lucas and Alex were no different, equally absorbed in their screens.

Only Olivia and Theodore seemed detached from their phones, busy talking and laughing together as they watched the other four siblings lost in their own worlds.

Seeing this, Adam and Mary exchanged glances and shook their heads helplessly.

Mary leaned closer and asked curiously, "Who is Aurora talking to all the time? I haven’t heard her mention a boyfriend even once."

Adam laughed knowingly. "It’s definitely that Spencer boy."

At his words, Mary smiled softly. "Indeed," she agreed.

"He’s the only one who can make her laugh like that."

Her thoughts drifted briefly to the painful period when they had been separated, and she sighed inwardly.

’I only hope that going forward, neither Aurora nor Spencer has to face any more hardships,’ she prayed silently.

After the wedding, everyone soon returned to their busy lives.

It could be said that things were finally moving smoothly. Hans, Milo, and Lovely were jailed.

However, on Olivia’s side, trouble quietly brewed.

She had recently begun to feel like she was being watched.

At first, she dismissed it as paranoia, but the sensation persisted.

The stalker didn’t even try to hide it properly, often moving just enough to catch her attention, as if daring her to notice.

Eventually, Olivia had enough.

One evening, she deliberately walked into a narrow alley.

Footsteps echoed behind her, slow and cautious.

The moment she sensed him close enough, she spun around and attacked without hesitation.

The stalker yelped and stumbled back, hands raised quickly in surrender.

"Whoa, whoa, whoa," he exclaimed nervously. "Why are you being so defensive?"

Olivia laughed.

"If I hadn’t acted defensively or made myself known," she scoffed, tightening her grip just enough for him to flinch, "what do you think would’ve happened to me? Was I supposed to wait until my stalker made the first move and then politely surrender?"

"S-surrender?" The man stiffened at the word, his voice pitching higher as panic crept in. "I don’t have any bad intentions!"

"Oh, of course you don’t," Olivia replied lightly, her laughter returning as her fingers tightened even more around his wrist.

The pressure made him groan, pain rippling through his arm. "I understand perfectly."

She leaned closer, her breath brushing his ear, her tone suddenly cold. "Now tell me, why were you following me?"

At her question, the man swallowed hard.

Sweat trickled down his temple.

"Why don’t you open the hood?" he blurted out, "You’ll understand the reason then."

She stepped back slightly, careful not to touch the hood shadowing his face. "I’m not touching that hood," she declared flatly. "Not even an inch."

Her instincts screamed danger. She didn’t even consider testing his words.
