Chapter 248: Chapter 248: Evidence

Aurora gave a weak smile and shook her head.

"Everything’s okay," she said softly.

But deep inside, she was hurting.

She had spent hours preparing a surprise for Spencer today. She thought he would smile. She thought he would be happy.

But instead, he just gave her a cold shoulder.

And now... He wasn’t replying to her messages at all.

What did I do wrong this time? Aurora wondered sadly.

Olivia, sitting on the couch beside her, watched her sister quietly. Even though Aurora didn’t say anything, her gloomy face said everything.

After a moment, Olivia gave a little chuckle.

"Let me guess... this is about Spencer, isn’t it?"

Aurora’s eyes widened. She looked at her sister in surprise.

"How... how did you know?" she asked, blinking fast.

Olivia gave her a teasing smile. "Easy. Since we were kids, whenever you look this heartbroken, it’s always because of Spencer."

Aurora laughed, thinking Olivia was just being playful. "Haha, come on! I didn’t even know Spencer when I was a kid."

But Olivia didn’t laugh.

She stayed quiet and just looked at Aurora with soft eyes.

In truth, Olivia did remember.

She remembered that long ago, when Aurora was still small, she had met Spencer near their rental apartment. He used to bring her little paper cranes and jelly candies.

But after Aurora fell sick with a high fever, she forgot all about it.

Olivia didn’t want to bring up those painful memories again.

So instead, she gave a bright smile and said, "Well, if he’s still mad, maybe try bringing him Ferrero Rocher. That always works."

Aurora gasped a little. "That was actually my plan!"

"Of course it was," Olivia winked.

Aurora felt a bit better after talking, but her real work for the night was just beginning.

She returned to her room, closed the door, and pulled open her closet.

Tonight, she wasn’t just Aurora.

She was Miss Dawn.

She pulled on a long black dress with high slits on both sides, slipped on heels, and tied her hair into a sleek bun. She wore her signature black veil that covered her face, only letting her bright red lips peek through.

Then, she opened the hidden panel in her room and slipped into the secret passage.

It led straight to the apartment Emily had bought for her, right below the Waters family apartment.

When Aurora stepped out onto the street, she saw Emily waiting near the lamp post.

Aurora grinned. "It’s been a while, hasn’t it?"

Emily smiled and adjusted her sunglasses. "Busy with business."

Aurora narrowed her eyes playfully. "Really? Because from what I know... You weren’t that busy."

Emily’s face turned red. "Wait—were you investigating me?!"

Aurora shrugged with an innocent look. "I would never. That’s illegal, right?"

Emily groaned. "Ugh, you’re impossible."

Soon, they reached the private hotel room they had booked earlier.

It was on the top floor—quiet, fancy, and safe from snooping eyes.

Aurora sat down on the plush couch and crossed her legs calmly.

Emily stood beside her, arms folded, as the door opened.

In walked Jonnah.

He looked like he was about to walk into a royal ball.

He wore a shiny maroon tuxedo with a golden watch and slicked-back hair.

Aurora blinked. Is this a business meeting or a red carpet?

Jonnah smiled widely and walked over quickly.

"Ms. Dawn, you look absolutely beautiful tonight," he said smoothly.

Aurora blinked under her veil.

Wait, what? She looked down at herself.

He can’t even see my face. What is he complimenting? The air around me?

She gave a small smile but couldn’t help slipping a small twist of her lips. "Thank you," she said in a soft voice.

He’s really good at flattery, she thought. No wonder people call him a smooth talker.

Jonnah sat down carefully across from her, resting his hands on his lap like a polite little gentleman.

Emily rolled her eyes from behind.

Aurora leaned forward slightly.

"Let’s get started, shall we?" she said in a low voice. "I believe you have some... information for me?"

Jonnah’s smile widened.

"Yes, Ms. Dawn. Everything about Eleanor’s uncle. Bank accounts. Hidden loans. Secret trips. Even a few... dark deals."

Aurora’s eyes gleamed behind the veil.

Aurora leaned back a little, her voice soft but serious.

"Hand me the clues."

Without saying a word, Jonnah reached into his pocket and pulled out a small pen drive. It was black with a tiny red light blinking at the end. He handed it over with both hands, like it was something super important.

"Everything is in here, Ms. Dawn," he said.

Aurora took it carefully and passed it to Emily, who immediately pulled out her laptop and plugged it in.

As Emily checked through the files, Aurora crossed one leg over the other and looked at Jonnah quietly. She didn’t say anything, but her eyes were sharp behind the black veil.

A minute later, Emily nodded.

"All files are here. Bank records, hidden deals, and even photos."

Aurora smiled under the veil. "You’re really smart, Jonnah."

Then, without warning, she picked up her phone, tapped the screen a few times, and said, "Check your bank."

Jonnah’s eyes widened. He opened his banking app right there in front of her, and his jaw almost dropped.

"Two... two million dollars?!" he gasped.

Aurora nodded calmly. "You’ll open a studio under Theodore’s name."

Jonnah blinked. "Theo... Theodore?"

He froze.

For a second, he thought Theodore was just Aurora’s secret boyfriend or someone she had a crush on. But now... this sounded different.

Why does she want to open a studio under his name?

Why is she giving this much money without even blinking?

He suddenly started thinking of all kinds of things.

Is she his relative? Maybe a cousin? A hidden sister? Or maybe she has a double identity and admires him from afar?

His thoughts were flying around like butterflies in a storm.

But before he could say anything more, Aurora’s soft voice cut in.

"I’m watching you, Jonnah. If you betray me even once..." her voice turned cold, "I’ll make sure no one in the entertainment world hires you ever again."

Jonnah felt a chill run down his spine.

He sat up straighter and quickly nodded.

"I promise! I’ll do everything just like you said! I won’t mess up, I swear!"

Then, with a careful voice, he asked, "Um... once I open the studio, there will still be a lot of money left. What should I do with it?"

Aurora smiled again, a little secretively.

"I’ve found some really interesting IPs," she said. "Buy the copyrights of all of them and put them under Theodore’s name."

"Also... hire directors, a casting director, and a producer. You’ll be making a drama."

Jonnah’s mouth dropped open. "Wait—like... an entire drama? All funded by you?"

Aurora nodded.

Jonnah wanted to jump out of his seat.

He had worked with rich people before, but none of them had ever thrown money like this. And definitely not for someone else’s name.

"And one more thing," Aurora added. "There are twenty IPs. You’ll acquire all of them. I’ll send you five million more."

Jonnah felt like screaming.

His hands were shaking from excitement.

Twenty IPs?!

She was asking him to build a whole drama empire for Theodore!

Then Aurora leaned forward again, her voice firm but kind.

"After you buy them, ask for more funds to hire managers and plan the budget. As long as the budget is proper and there are no loopholes, I will send the money. As for which platform we will launch the drama and what different kinds of permissions are required, don’t worry about it. I’ll handle everything."

Jonnah blinked. He couldn’t help it. He had to ask.

"Ms. Dawn... why are you giving me this job? Isn’t this something a manager or employee should do? I’m just an actor."

Aurora smiled under her veil.

"Because I know your story, Jonnah."

"You once wanted to be a director, right? Before you became an actor."

Jonnah froze.

His eyes widened.

"How... how did you know that?"

Aurora said nothing, just kept looking at him calmly.

Jonnah remembered.

He had wanted to be a director. He even studied filmmaking at first. But his family was poor.

His parents were sick. He needed money fast. So he gave up his dream and became an actor, taking every role he could get.

Nobody knew that. Not even his closest friends.

But Ms. Dawn knew.

That meant she had researched him from the start.

Jonnah felt his throat tighten.

He stood up quickly and bowed deeply.

"Thank you, Ms. Dawn. I’ll remember this kindness forever!"

Aurora waved her hand slowly. "Just treat Theodore like your own brother. Protect him. Take care of everything under his name."

Jonnah nodded again, this time with real emotion in his eyes.

"Yes, ma’am. I swear I will."

Now, even if Aurora asked him to take out his heart, he would be ready(during his old age, of course).

"Miss Dawn, what a pleasant surprise." A fake voice broke the rising harmony in the room.
