Chapter 2007: Chapter 639: The Ingenious Uses of the Battle Song (5)

The Mermaid, like all outsiders, did not recognize that this was the Golden Ring Warrior who made the Sea Clan suffer greatly in the previous sea-land war. Prince Similian and Prince Rhincor merely judged from the totem pole that these infantry belonged to the Buer Warriors.

"How arrogant! Just abandoning defense to engage in melee on the city walls! Relay my order, focus the attack on that side!" Prince Similian sneered at the "good brother-in-law" leading his Buer infantry on the city wall, thinking that if he didn’t exhaust him, he’d feel he hadn’t done his part.

A thousand Magic Shark Warriors served as overseers, brandishing shining iron spears, driving more Octopus Warriors up the walls to engage in decisive battle with this Beamon unit.

Today, Liu Zhenhan wielded a fearsome Wolf Fang Club and a kite-shaped battle shield. He preferred collecting such heavy weapons, as they swept through swaths of enemies with a satisfying feel; for him, who had entered self-initiated berserk mode, the enemy’s actions were all slow motion, so he simply smashed wildly to his heart’s delight.

The kite-shaped battle shield had blades on its wings, suitable for both blocking and attacking, but frankly, given the resilience of Liu Zhenhan’s "Ice Throne Armor," the Octopus Warriors would have to enlarge themselves tenfold to even hope to breach his defense.

Liu Zhenhan met the toughest opponent of his life.

His Wolf Fang Club intimately connected with numerous skulls, the opponent’s tenacity exceeded his expectations, prompting him to exert even more effort.

The Summer Palace Guard actually disliked fighting against short opponents because it meant everyone had to bend down to swing their weapons, leveraging the armor’s weight, until the frustrated Antelope Warriors quickly used their main weapon like battering rams, smashing the city wall to an earthquake-like rumble.

Aside from repeating this crude smashing act, they didn’t forget to kick around with their battle boots riotously. When the reserve of Heavy Armored Cavalry was piled onto the city wall by Old Liu to start slaughtering Octopus Warriors, the watching Prince Similian and Prince Rhincor finally realized something amiss; the Buer Warriors on the city wall not only showed no signs of fatigue but seemed even more invigorated, and the newly arrived Orephin Hercules were unbelievably wielding bright long knives instead of maces.

In the Sea Clan’s archives, there appeared to be no records of Orephin Warriors using swords.

This couldn’t be blamed on the Sea Clan’s ignorance; the Mammoth Clan had long secluded themselves in snowy mountains, lacking conditions to use heavy weaponry. After becoming accustomed to ivory long knives, they now showed little interest in other weapons, and the sharp, fierce Green Party knife techniques further enhanced their prowess. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝕨𝕖𝗯𝚗𝚘𝕧𝕖𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝕞

Wherever the long knives swept, the west wind sent forth heads.

Toward the latter stage, the Octopus Warriors often collapsed without contact upon rushing the city wall; though military law was severe, retreating spelled death, they still couldn’t muster the courage to face these towering Beamons, opponents fit for Banilou Warriors. A single stomp from the foe could kill several, a source of utter despair, as no matter how they chopped, it felt like hacking at iron walls!

Prince Similian watched as the retreating Octopus Warriors were slaughtered by the overseeing Magic Shark Warriors like cutting vegetables, his neck veins bulging with anger; these cannon fodder had been fed "suicide pills" made from seaweed growing in undersea volcanic craters before the charge, pills potent enough to inspire battle will and fearlessness, and yet they were scared away just like that!

"What’s the use of commanding an army if a leader can’t maintain such basic composure?" Prince Rhincor stopped the prince from foolishly leading elite troops to attack the city: "I’ve never seen a commander personally fight in battle in my life. Continue waiting, Similian, can’t you see the Beamon priest on the city wall still has plenty of strength? We have a hundred thousand Octopus Warriors; if that’s not enough, I’ll summon another hundred thousand. We have plenty of this cannon fodder anyway!"

Old Gecko Brut came over for the third time to ask the Shaman of Divine Songs for elixirs, and Liu Zhenhan finally sensed something was wrong.

The Temple Knights would come to request elixirs every once in a while, and if the Sea Clan continued using cannon fodder tactics to drain resources, the little fortune snatched from Yi Hua Palace by Florence would be exhausted after this battle by the Temple Knights.

"Damn it! At least use them sparingly!" Liu Zhenhan hated prodigal behavior, warriors who on the battlefield would unleash all firepower indiscriminately without regard to whether the opponent’s troop type warranted such cost: "Why not engage them in melee? Such trash troops aren’t even worth using archers against! Come on! It’s not like we lack reserves; General Reyes at the city bottom has prepared four reserve units for us! Rotate and rest! They have numbers, but so do we!"

"I get it this time! The Sea Clan is using a war of attrition to drain our magic power and stamina... but Richard, you see... it’s not right to keep priests and elf mages idle either! You gave me the elixir this time, I definitely won’t let them act, I’ll just have them standby like your Taibao." The red-robed Grand Priest sheepishly fumbled for excuses. If Old Liu hadn’t impatiently lashed out, he would have thought his command was quite clever, forgetting to consider whether trash troops were worth using magic against, upon reflection... it seems it was rather wasteful.
