Bloodlines of Betrayal: Celestia's Ascension

Season 2 – Part 39 : The Chaos Begins

Celestia stood in the middle of Dante Moretti's luxurious penthouse, arms crossed, eyes locked onto the small creature in front of her. The so-called nephew she had been forced to babysit.

The kid-Lorenzo Moretti, age seven, vampire-werewolf hybrid-stared right back at her, unblinking. He had wild dark hair, sharp golden eyes, and an expression that screamed trouble.

Draven leaned against the wall, arms folded, thoroughly amused. "Celestia, you're a queen, a warrior, a legend, and yet... you're afraid of a child?"

Celestia shot him a glare. "I'm not afraid. I just don't do kids."

Lorenzo smirked-an expression far too similar to Dante's. "You look weak," he declared. "Are you even a real queen?"

Celestia narrowed her eyes. Oh, this little brat.

Dante, lounging on his sofa, snickered. "Yeah, kiddo. She's the queen. You should respect her."

Lorenzo tilted his head. "But Uncle Dante said queens are just spoiled princesses with crowns."

Draven choked on his drink, and Lyra-who had been casually eating grapes-burst out laughing.

Celestia took a deep breath. "Dante."

Dante held up his hands innocently. "Hey, don't look at me. He's a free thinker."

Celestia crouched down, meeting Lorenzo at eye level. "Listen, kid. I don't care what Dante told you. I'm not just a queen. I'm a ruthless, blood-drinking, ass-kicking ruler. You mess with me, and I will lock you in a silver cage with no dessert."

Lorenzo blinked. Then, to everyone's shock, he grinned.

"I like you," he said. "You're scary."

Dante smirked. "See? He's got good taste."

Celestia groaned, rubbing her temples. "How long am I supposed to 'babysit' him again?"

Dante stretched lazily. "Until he stops being a menace."

Draven laughed. "So... forever?"

Lorenzo growled. "I AM NOT A MENACE!"

To prove his point, he immediately leaped onto the chandelier, hanging upside down like an overexcited bat.

Celestia felt a headache forming. "You have got to be kidding me."

Dante, Lyra, and Draven? They were all laughing their asses off.

This was going to be a long, painful day.

Meanwhile, in the shadows...

Far from the chaotic scene, in the depths of an abandoned cathedral, Lucian Devereaux watched.

His sharp, silver eyes glowed in the darkness as he listened to his informant's report.

"The Queen has entered the mafia's world, just as you predicted."

Lucian smirked. "Good."

His voice was silk and steel, carrying a promise of danger. "It's time she learns... she's not the only ruler in this game."

Location: Dante Moretti's Penthouse, Mafia Territory

Celestia was done.

It had only been two hours since she agreed to watch over Lorenzo, and she was already considering throwing him into a vampire dungeon.

The kid had:

1. Set Draven's coat on fire.

2. Stolen Lyra's dagger and used it to slice a watermelon-on the carpet.

3. Tied Celestia's shoelaces together while she wasn't looking, making her trip in front of Dante, who was now laughing uncontrollably.

"I swear to the gods," Celestia muttered, rubbing her temples, "this is worse than fighting an army of rogue werewolves."

Draven, sitting on the couch with his arms crossed, smirked. "To be fair, you are technically fighting a werewolf. He's just... smaller."

Lorenzo bared his fangs. "I'M NOT SMALL! I'M COMPACTLY DANGEROUS!"

Celestia exhaled through her nose. "You're compactly annoying."

Lorenzo gasped. "HOW DARE YOU."

He ran into the kitchen, grabbed a whole jar of Nutella, and in an act of pure revenge, smeared it all over Celestia's throne-worthy black jacket.

Silence.

Lyra backed away. Draven's jaw dropped. Dante? Dante was on the floor wheezing.

Celestia slowly looked down at the mess on her coat. Then back at Lorenzo.

The child smirked. "What now, Vampire Queen?"

Celestia gave him a sharp-toothed grin.

"What now?" she echoed. Then, in a flash, she snatched him off the ground, tossed him over her shoulder like a sack of potatoes, and marched toward the bathroom.

Lorenzo screamed in betrayal. "NOOOOOO! NOT THE BATH! I'M ALLERGIC TO SOAP!"

Celestia kicked the bathroom door open. "TOO BAD, YOU LITTLE GREMLIN."

"HELP! HELP! I'M BEING ATTACKED!"

Draven and Lyra, dying of laughter, made no move to assist. Dante was recording everything.

Ten Minutes Later...

Celestia walked out of the bathroom victorious.

Lorenzo, wrapped in a fluffy white towel, looked like a drowned rat. His normally wild hair was flat, his golden eyes filled with betrayal.

Dante clapped. "I gotta say, Queenie. That was impressive. Usually, it takes four mafia guards to get him into a bath."

Celestia tossed her wet jacket aside and sat down. "Yeah? Well, next time, I'm using holy water."

Lorenzo hissed like a cat.

Lyra wiped away tears from laughing. "So, Celestia, how do you feel about kids now?"

Celestia glared at her. "Ask me that again, and I will throw you into the bath next."

Draven grinned. "Well, this has been fun, but we still have to prepare for your next challenge, love."

Celestia groaned. "Oh gods. What now?"

Dante smirked. "Your Mafia Combat Test."

Celestia blinked. "My what?"

Dante stood up, cracking his knuckles. "To prove you're worthy of walking in our world, you need to pass a little test. A simple, friendly, totally not dangerous trial."

Celestia narrowed her eyes. "I feel like you're lying."

Dante winked. "I would never."

Lorenzo, now fully recovered from his traumatic bath, perked up. "Ooooh! I wanna watch!"

Dante grinned. "Then let's get started."
