Bloodline Reckoning: The System Made Me Filthy Rich-Chapter 75: Threatened
Chapter 75: Threatened
"I think this is a perfect time for you to keep your promise, don’t you agree?"
Alexis smiles playfully at Noah, subtly changing the subject to dodge his question.
It would be awkward if she confessed her true feelings for him, wouldn’t it? This man might run away from her. That’s something she definitely didn’t want to happen.
"Promise?"
"Oh...!?" Alexis tilted her head with a curious look, giving him a warm, incredulous gaze. "Don’t try to avoid it..."
A gentle smile started to emerge on Noah’s lips. He realized he couldn’t avoid her anymore, even though he wished he could.
"I guess you already know my name—my grandpa was loud enough to introduce me to his friends and made sure everyone, including the media present, heard it," Noah responded calmly. And that’s the truth about what happened out there.
On the way here, he casually checked the news. He wasn’t surprised to see that almost all the trending topics on major websites and TV news outlets were about the Morgan family.
However, the focus had shifted from Jeremy Morgan to him.
Whatever his grandpa’s intention was, it was definitely successful.
"Noah Morgan..." Alexis whispered his name with a faint smile, her eyes warm as she looked at him. "But you still have to give me your cell phone number," she added with a friendly, teasing tone.
Noah shifted his gaze back to his grandpa, who was still talking to Andrew Morgan and his wife, before responding to her question. "My phone number? Alexis, can we skip that?" he asked without looking at her.
Despite his interest in this girl’s bold and straightforward nature, Noah also didn’t want to get too close or involved with Andrew Morgan. His dear uncle might get pissed off if he hears that he started a relationship with Alexis Moore.
However, Noah’s instant wish failed when Alexis answered him, "Oh, you are the type of man who didn’t keep your word—"
He interrupted her abruptly and began giving her his phone number. She fumbled to take her cell phone out of her handbag and asked him to slow down.
After Noah shared his cell phone number with Alexis Moore, he excused himself and finally went over to Alexander Morgan.
Almost all the guests at Jeremy’s funeral had already left, and he didn’t notice anyone suspicious among them. He wanted to leave immediately, no longer wishing to stay there.
"Grandpa, I need to head out now."
Noah still feels awkward calling this old man by that name.
Alexander Morgan was surprised to hear that.
"Why so hurried, Noah? Why not join us for dinner?"
"Yes, Noah, you need to be familiar with the family..." Isabel Reid, his grandma, also stepped in to convince him to stay. Along with his two aunts, he still refused them all.
Noah just gives a vague excuse that he will fly to another city to handle some business. Eventually, they stop pressuring him to stay.
But just as Noah was about to get in the car, his younger uncle, Jared Morgan, stopped him. He asked if he could speak for a moment.
Knowing Jared Morgan was the one who hated him the most, Noah tried to stay calm and turned to look at him, even though he was inwardly cursing him.
"Yes, of course, Uncle Jared..."
He noticed Jared Morgan didn’t hurry to speak, but instead appeared to survey their surroundings before leaning in closer.
"Noah, I hope you didn’t find too much happiness just because my parents finally acknowledged you..." His voice was gentle, but there was a clear undertone of a threat in his words.
Jared Morgan raised his hand and rested it on Noah’s shoulder, as if he were about to intimidate him.
"Are you aware that you don’t have the right to sit on the Morgan Group or inherit anything from this family? Right!" Jared asked, but before Noah could respond, he continued, "Well, if my father was crazy enough to give you a share or inherit you something, you better not accept that!"
Noah was left speechless. He found it amusing to see how absurd Jared Morgan sounded now. Still, he tried to keep his composure, simply gazing at him calmly.
"You must remember your promise, Noah! If you’ve forgotten, let me remind you," he says with a playful smile, gripping Noah’s shoulder a bit more firmly before adding, "You said you didn’t want to accept anything from this family. So, you better keep that in mind!"
Jared finishes his warning with a sneer.
Instead of feeling threatened, Noah smiled gently, finding Jared Morgan’s expression amusing.
"You are my senior, but if you keep grabbing my shoulder like that, I won’t hesitate to threaten you the way I did with my poor cousin Jeremy."
Noah’s eyes were sharp enough to make Jared Morgan’s sneer fade instantly, turning into a shocked and frightened look. fгeewёbnoѵel_cσm
When Noah noticed Jared Morgan about to speak, he kept going. "Ah, maybe you forgot? I broke his wrist the first time we met. Do you want me to do that..."
Noah hadn’t finished speaking when Jared quickly pulled his hand away and stepped back, his eyes flashing with anger.
"You’re such an arrogant young man, Noah..." Then he left hurriedly and went inside the house.
Noah chuckled to himself, thinking, ’Tsk, tsk! What an interesting uncle...’ as he stepped into the car after Edgar opened the door for him.
...
After a few minutes, they left. Morgan resident Edgar looked at the back row to check on Noah.
Seeing him rest his eyes, Edgar asked, "Sir, are you just going to let him be? Maybe he will cause trouble for you again."
Noah didn’t respond to Edgar because he was busy checking his system, and surprisingly, he found a revenge ledger for Jared Morgan.
