Chapter 188: Chapter 188

Fear

That was what everyone felt when they saw the destruction caused by the magic cannon. Its power was unreal; never had they seen something of this caliber before, excluding the times when Zion blew up parts of the kingdom, but at least then, it wasn’t aimed at them.

Epora stood still, frozen in terror as she witnessed 80 percent of her men vanish before her eyes. She clenched her fists, only to find herself holding on to a hand that belonged to someone she tried to save but couldn’t in time.

Then her legs lost their strength and she fell to her knees.

Just like that, over 40,000 people lost their lives in an instant.

Ruby’s eyes were wide, so wide that they dried instantly from being in contact with the air. Her fists were clenched tightly, turning her palms white, and a bead of sweat dripped down her face.

"Go. I’ll hold them off. Go now!" After seeing the destruction, Parth knew they wouldn’t win. He had no choice but to confront this power while protecting his family.

"No, I’ll fight with you." Ruby readied her armor and sword, blasting off into the battlefield to face her brother.

"No! Dammit Ruby!" Parth chased after her.

"Lapis! Grow some balls and face me now!" Ruby yelled as she made her way toward him at high speed.

"Should I stop her, your highness?" Raidon asked, already casting a spell.

"No, leave her to me. You three handle Duke Parth. He’s the bigger threat."

Ellan scoffed, readying his staff and stretching his muscles. "Please, that bastard will drop dead before he even knows what hits him."

"Don’t be foolish, Lord Ellan. Lord Parth is a formidable opponent. And judging by his armor, he’s prepared to take us on." Even though Raidon was a True Transcendent, he still felt shivers from Parth’s bloodlust that covered the battlefield.

"Come, Ruby, let’s see which of us will claim the throne!" Channeling his power, Lapis flew toward his sister.

"I’ll feed my sword with your blood!"

A brutal clash occurred when Ruby’s sword connected with Lapis’s staff.

He was blown back by her strength, only regaining his footing by using magic to create holds for him to stand on. But a fist connected with his belly, which knocked him away with a devastating force.

"ARGH~That won’t stop me!" Mana arrows blasted from his staff, aimed at his sister’s head with deadly accuracy.

Ruby didn’t even flinch. She easily cut through the hundreds of mana arrows that rained down on her.

Appearing behind Lapis, her sword almost connected with his neck, but once it came close, she was hit in the back by an explosion, and Lapis quickly turned around, a waterball in his hand, and shot her in the chest with a stream of pressurized water.

"Akkk! Fucking bastard!" Shadows crept onto Ruby as she activated her Body Art. "Sadow veil!"

A dome of darkness surrounded Lapis, cutting him off from the outside. His senses dulled, and his breathing became heavier.

’I can’t hear or feel anything. My senses are completely cut off. I need to stay on guard if I want to make it out of here ali-’ He dodged just in time, avoiding a fatal strike.

His side was cut, and the pain he felt was more intense than it should have been.

’Shit!’ Lapis rolled, summoning a magic circle that blasted fire into a random direction.

"You missed."

Lapis swiped his staff, the mana around it forming into a sharp blade. He aimed behind him but cut at nothing but the darkness.

"Stop hiding and face me!" He shouted in anger. But he was met with a deadly slash to the back that cut deep into his muscles.

"Fuckkkk!!! You crazy bitch!"

"I see your calm persona is faltering." She punched him in the face, dodging a blast of mana from his hands. Her elbow connected with his temple and she grabbed his hair, then kneed his face, breaking his nose.

"URGHHHHH!!! RUBY!"

"Shut up you fucking loser and die." She stabbed him in the heart, killing her brother in cold blood.

The shadows vanished, and color returned. She looked down at her brother, not feeling an ounce of remorse, and walked away to help her people.

She took one step forward, and a piercing pain spread through her body like a wild fire. Ruby looked down, seeing blood drip down her abdomen from a small circular wound.

"You were never good with Illusions." Lapis chuckled, the space warping to reveal him.

"You fucking little-"

"What? Genius? Am I not allowed to use my brain to win a fight? This is why you brutes are dumb. You swing a sword and think you’re strong. The only thing the Kingdom will see with your reign is war."

"I’ll kill you before then!" Ruby attacked, her sword encased in shadows as she swung at her brother, but he was quick to react.

A barrier blocked her blade, but Ruby followed up with a powerful punch that shattered the barrier and sent Lapis back.

He retaliated, causing the earth to shift, forcing Ruby off the ground. Vines sprouted, attempting to strangle Ruby with their strength, but she easily avoided them, cutting them down in the process.

The two clashed in a fierce battle of Aura and Magic, both equally strong and skilled, determined to win the title of King/Queen.

But because of her injury, Ruby ended up falling behind, allowing her brother to overpower her and claim victory in their duel.

He fired a concentrated beam of mana from his staff, staggering Ruby, then backhanded her with a hand made of mana, sending her crashing down to the ground.

"Don’t worry." He said, binding his sister in magical chains. "I won’t kill you. I want to see the look on your face when I become king. Also, I want you to watch as your grandfather dies."

"You fucking bastard!" She hissed

"Yeah, yeah, call me whatever you want, as long as it’s not ’loser’ because that’s what you are."
