Chapter 179: Chapter 178 (Read this before Chapter 179!)
[THIS IS Chapter 178! READ THIS Chapter FIRST BEFORE THE PREVIOUS ONE!]
Beryl thought their plans were pushed back and wouldn’t attack today since Amber was on to them, yet he had just seen two church of Arion members try and assassinate his father.
"Beryl!" The pope yelled, getting his attention. "What’s going on?! What did you do?!" The pope knew Beryl’s ambition and stupidity. But he never expected him to disobey his orders and proceed with the attack.
"I...I didn’t do anything! This isn’t me! Honest! You have to believe me!" He was just as confused as the pope and didn’t want to get blamed for something he didn’t do. But the damage was already done.
The pope growled in frustration. He had no choice but to work with today’s circumstances since everyone would assume he had something to do with this. "Children of Arion, to my side." He shouted, and every church member flocked to him.
"What’s the meaning of this?!" Amber asked, trying her hardest to act surprised and hold in the laughter that was building up in her throat. "Did you try and kill Father on his birthday?"
"No...I...." Beryl stumbled over his words, not knowing what to say.
"Disappointing," Ruby stated, her voice cold and domineering. "You were always weak, but to challenge us like this? You have some balls, I’ll admit that. Form up."
All of Ruby’s faction that came to the party formed up behind her, ready to take on Beryl and his faction.
"What are you two doing? Are you really going to fight here? In front of everyone? Dad is dying!" Amber was really selling her part to everyone, but Ruby saw through her disguise.
"Cut the crap Amber, I know you’re enjoying this."
Amber smiled, her grin reaching up to her ears. "That obvious? No matter, this is good for me anyway." She clapped her hands, and people emerged from the shadows, forming up around her.
"Oh shit! Do you see that?" Zion asked, tapping Lidia’s arm with one hand while eating popcorn with the other.
Ruby stared at her siblings. "Are we really doing this right here? It’s not too late to give up."
Amber scoffed. "Please. Don’t act like some high and mighty older sister who will spare us if we back down now. I already know you’re hellbent on killing us."
"Fuck! What is happening?" Beryl, still in shock, couldn’t believe what was happening. But he had no choice but to react to his predicament, and he too readied himself for a fight.
Lapis’s faction secretly moved out, not daring to get into a fight without him present. They planned to regroup at his grandfather’s home, one of the dukes, and await further orders.
"S-Stop! How dare you pull shit on my birthday!" The king shouted, standing back up with the aid of his wives.
Amber rolled her eyes, annoyed that he wasn’t offed in one go.
Beryl didn’t know how to feel. He was relieved that he had the opportunity to explain to his father that he wasn’t behind this, but he was scared he wouldn’t believe him
Ruby didn’t care at all and decided to assess the situation before acting.
"You! Beryl! How dare you!" The king snarled, blood flying out of his mouth.
"Father! It wasn’t me! I swear! We held off our plans to attack today." Beryl clutched his mouth after he revealed too much.
"Idiot!" The pope growled
"That matters not! You ungrateful children of mine, how dare you covet what belongs to me! Do you not have a good life? A home? A future? You would kill me for the throne?"
Silence.
"I’ll make sure none of you sit on that chair for as long as I live!" He barked. "Gather the Royal army!"
The church backed down, Amber’s faction started to retreat, and even Ruby had to back down since facing the Royal Army would cause harm to her faction.
Zircon continued shouting at his kids. "You all should be like Crystal! She gave up on the throne because she knew better. Honestly, she’s the best child I have out of you lot. At least she knows her place."
"Boooooooo! You suck!" Zion shouted in the background.
Everyone paused, then turned to him.
"My bad, please continue." He said with a slight chuckle.
"All of you will back down and return to your chambers immediately! This is a royal decree!" The king shouted.
Ruby held up her hand, telling her people to back down completely. Amber and Beryl did the same.
Since the king didn’t die, they couldn’t continue their plans as they wanted. But since the seeds of betrayal were planted, they could use this to their advantage.
"What? That’s it? No fighting? No bloodshed?" Zion asked, causing everyone to come to a complete stop once more. "I even made things easier for you all by incapacitating Lapis, yet you all are still backing down? Pussies."
Zircon tilted his head. "What do you mean?"
Zion smiled and turned to the Royal Children. "You all want to be king and queen, right?" A ray gun shaped like a pistol formed in his hands. He aimed it at the king’s head and fired it, killing him instantly. "Fight for it."
Everyone took a second to understand what had just happened.
Zion, a divine apostle, had killed the king of the Astir kingdom because he wanted the Royal Children to fight it out. It was insane to think about, but it literally happened right in front of their eyes.
Ruby, Amber, and Beryl wondered what they should do. They were still in shock, but knew this was their only chance to get ahead of the game. But who would make the first move?
"Are you kidding me? I had this entire thing planned out. War and bloodshed, and killing with grand surprise at the end. But look at you all, standing there like deer in headlights. You don’t even understand that reference because you don’t even know what a fucking car is!" Zion got up from his chair and pulled out his sword.
"Fight, or your mothers die!" He demanded.
