Blade of the Goddess-Chapter 154
Chapter 154: Chapter 154
The air crackled as Lefyr skidded back, boots carving trenches in the stone floor. Lightning rippled off his body in bursts, illuminating the dim chamber with violent flickers. His breathing was heavy, but steady. Sparks danced along his arms, each twitch a reminder of Belo’s presence burning through him.
Belo’s voice echoed in his mind, calm and deep. "Stay sharp, Lefyr. The swordsman’s charging again."
The swordsman came first—again. Fast. Heavy. Direct. Steel sang, dragging demonic energy behind it like a scream. Lefyr side-stepped, barely. A current of wind carried him clear as the blade carved a crater where he’d just stood.
He retaliated with a burst of flame, laced with lightning, that exploded at the swordsman’s feet. Not enough to stop him, just slow him.
The mage raised both hands, whispering something foul.
"Not letting you finish that!" Lefyr growled. He hurled a spear of pure mana, trailing electric arcs. It cracked against a barrier of shadow, but forced the mage to break the spell.
Then came the martial artist. A blur. No wasted movement. Just a hook to the ribs, followed by a spinning elbow that sent Lefyr tumbling. His shoulder hit stone. Sparks flew from the impact.
"Belo!"
"On it," the spirit replied.
He raised both hands and released a chain of lightning bolts, crackling through the room. The swordsman tanked through it, aura flaring dark red. The mage ducked behind debris. The martial artist moved low, weaving through it, closing the distance.
"Damn it..." he hissed, eyes flicking between the three. "Still not enough."
Belo’s voice sharpened. "Incoming, left flank!"
Lefyr shouted, slamming his hands to the ground, and lightning surged upward like a dome. It stopped the martial artist, but not for long.
Then the swordsman came, his blade meeting Lefyr’s arm, sliding off the living lightning. Lefyr countered with a flash of ice, electrified, freezing the sword’s hilt. A kick broke the stalemate—Lefyr’s boot slammed into the swordsman’s gut, sending him back.
But then a curse hit his chest.
The mage had found an opening.
It seared through him—not just pain, but decay. His skin cracked, sparks stuttering. Belo’s power dimmed for half a breath.
The martial artist had already arrived, kneeing him in the jaw. Lefyr staggered.
"I can’t keep—"
"Hold, Lefyr," Belo interrupted. "Channeling full surge. I need five seconds."
A blade sliced across his back, and he dropped to one knee. Blood hissed where it hit his lightning-made flesh. Still, he fought.
One hand raised—he summoned a storm above them. A dozen bolts dropped in succession, hammering the room. One struck the mage, flattening him. The other two were forced to scatter.
Lefyr rose, panting. Burned. Bleeding. But upright. "We’re not done," he muttered. "Not yet."
They came again.
He screamed, casting everything—fire, wind, ice, raw force—all supercharged by lightning. The martial artist slipped through the gaps, landing three brutal blows. One to the stomach. One to the ribs. One to the side of the neck.
Lefyr’s body flickered.
"Belo—"
"I know!" the spirit snapped. "One last surge—!"
The swordsman drove his blade into Lefyr’s side, demonic energy ripping through
Lefyr screamed.
The mage finished it.
A lance of pure darkness punched through his chest.
The lightning went out.
He dropped. Not instantly. He staggered, arms still raised, like he might cast one more spell. But his knees gave, and he fell. Smoke curled from his body. Belo’s light faded.
"I’m... sorry, Belo..." Lefyr whispered, barely audible.
There was silence for a moment. Then—
"It’s been an honor fighting alongside you for over 1000 years," Belo said quietly. "Rest well, my friend." His voice faded with a crack of light, and he was torn from the world, forcefully summoned back to the Spirit Realm after the death of his contractor.
Then, before Lefyr could fully take his final breaths, a golden light surrounded his body, halting his death, but not preventing it.
"Fuck, some luck I have." Zion sighed, arriving too late.
The three cloaked figures turned to Zion, their faces hidden but their bodies scarred from the intense battle they had just partaken in.
The swordsman and martial artist charged at Zion while the mage started weaving hexes for a spell.
Zion stood calm, not backing down from the threat that came his way. "Aryah."
That’s all it took, just saying her name.
In an instant, she appeared in front of the two figures, shocking them with her presence and forcing them to a halt. But that was the worst mistake of their lives. Before they could even regain their momentum, their heads we already rolling on the floor.
"How in the-" It was only when the mage was surprised that he finally spoke some words, but it was too late, Aryah’s hand was already through his chest, and she blew him up from the inside.
"Hehe, that was fun!" She smiled, floating back to Zion.
"Lefyr, you still with us? What happened?"
Lefyr looked up weakly, his eyes cloudy and his voice almost gone.
"H-Hallway to the left. Take...blood...safe house....m-my son....h-here." Using the rest of his strength, Lefyr removed a gemstone from his shirt with a crest on it, his family crest, handed it to Zion, then died, his head bouncing on the ground as he took his last breaths.
"Well fuck. He’s dead. That’s two Fae Family Heads dead now."
[Take his blood and let’s go to the hallway to the left. We need to find his son.]
’Agreed.’
"Who are you talking to?" Aryah asked, her expression confused but also bubbly and cute.
"W-What? You can hear her?"
"Yeah. But it doesn’t feel like you have another spirit contracted to you. Oh, I know, you have a split personality."
"Huh? Wait, no no, it’s....I’ll just tell you later, come on." frёeωebɳovel.com
"It’s okay if you have a split personality, master. I can split into ten different versions of myself."
"I don’t have a split personality, Aryah, I have an artificial intelligence communicating with me through my thoughts." He tried to clear up the misunderstanding.
"Artificial intelligence? As in fake? So you do have a split personality."
"Ugh, never mind."
