Chapter 111: Cold Day

A new morning dawned in Black Online, and the students of the Demon Instructor Rock were already standing outside the mansion.

They were waiting for their teacher to start the morning jog.

"Whoo..."

Fang Raon breathed out cold air.

It was cold as hell.

"Apparently last night was so cold that someone found a frozen deer in the forest. This place really sucks, huh?"

One of the trembling players said.

"It also sounds like we, Rose Records, need to go cut some wood to keep the place warm. It’s been running low for days now.

"And also the guild master plans to donate some wood logs to the locals of Snowberry Village so they can keep their houses warm and don’t freeze to death."

"Don’t we usually pay the wood companies over in Tinselbrook Village for more supplies when we run low? What happened?"

"I don’t know, but it sounds like the guild master isn’t planning to do it this time."

While they were talking, Rock walked out of the mansion in heavy winter gear and saw that everyone had already gathered.

"Alright, let’s get going!"

He clapped his hands.

They all nodded and skipped into a jog, and once they left the mansion grounds behind, they entered the usual forest path that they always took during jogs.

"Hoo... Huff..."

Fang Raon ran behind everyone, like he always did, and today, he felt quite nice as the cold morning air filled his lungs.

It was another extremely long jog, but it had become much easier for Fang Raon since the first time, and he was even able to keep up with the rest.

"Race to the top!"

Rock shouted as the last hill came into view, and everyone gritted their teeth and started sprinting to the top.

Like always, Fang Raon chased down Machary, but a moment later, he just sprinted off into the distance.

He was still unable to keep up with him!

’Huff... Should I just... put all my stat points to stamina and speed... once I level up? Haha... I don’t think I will lose then!’

Fang Raon gritted his teeth, and like every other time, he was last at the top of the hill, and everyone was already there catching their breath.

Sitting on the back of the enormous hound, Rock reached the top of the hill and checked the time on his pocket watch.

"Now, be back at the mansion by 11:30, and if you fail to do so, you’ll train outside for the remainder of the day."

Rock said with a serious look.

It brought shocked expressions to the faces of the students as they now had less time than previous times.

They usually had to be back at the mansion by 12, but now they had half an hour less time than before!

’What the hell is that? Is he doing this to piss me off? I was confident that I could arrive before 12 today, but I am not going to make it by 11:30!’

Fang Raon gritted his teeth.

It was one of the coldest days, so he was thrilled about the possibility of training indoors today, but with this new time, he was never going to make it.

"Let’s get going. Time is ticking!"

Rock shouted.

With gritted teeth, everyone started running downhill, and Fang Raon followed behind them, but he quickly started losing ground.

Everyone was running faster than before, as before everyone was running at just barely a good enough pace to arrive at the mansion before 12.

They could’ve always gone faster, but they had no need to, as they only had to arrive before 12.

With the new time, they had to actually push themselves harder, which was exactly what Rock wanted to do.

He gave a new time after seeing that the morning jog had become easier for the students than he wanted.

And also, after seeing that even Fang Raon was about to make it in time, he thought it was a good time to shorten the time.

...

"Huff... Huff... Huff..."

Fang Raon, dragging his feet behind him, finally arrived back at the mansion, but as the last one, as always.

Every other student was already warming themselves inside the mansion.

"Huff!"

With ragged breathing, he checked the time on his system interface, and after seeing the time, he sighed heavily.

[11:58]

’I would’ve... Made it!’

Fang Raon slumped down to the ground, and he now needed to somehow run half an hour faster to make it to the mansion on time.

’I can’t achieve that... I need to level up...’

Crunch! Crunch! Crunch!

In that moment, Rock walked over to him, his boots leaving crunchy footsteps in the snow, and his hound by his side.

"We’re heading to the forest again today. Get up, and let’s get going."

He said.

With a tired nod, Fang Raon stood back up and followed behind Rock even though he could feel his lungs burning.

...

The next three days flew by in the cold winter air.

With Rock, Fang Raon spent his days in the woods, killing every Ice Goblin, Snow Rabbit, and Killer Bear that came into his view.

Meanwhile, Rose Records was busy cutting trees in the forest and hauling them back to the mansion for firewood.

Whatever they had extra, they gave to the locals for free.

In the morning jogs, Fang Raon never made it to the mansion in time—he was nowhere close to making it in time.

However, his new record was arriving by 11:51, which was just 21 minutes too slow.

Currently, deep in the woods with the blue sky and yellow sun accompanying them, Fang Raon cut down another Ice Goblin.

"...One more percent!"

He shouted.

"Goblins ahead. Take care of them."

Rock said.

With a nod, Fang Raon looked over, saw an angry group of goblins coming over to him, and readied his sword for battle.

He wasn’t scared of facing multiple opponents anymore, as he had new-found confidence.

All Rock wanted was for Fang Raon to have more confidence in himself while facing multiple opponents.

It was something he was lacking.

Fang Raon sliced through the goblins effortlessly, and after he finished with all of them, notifications appeared in front of him.
