[BL]The Hero and his Party Won't Let Me Go-Chapter 86: Ch : The planned charge
"Madam, welcome back. Do you want to see the prince-"
Sera rushed past the maids and toward her son, who slept peacefully. White hair and pale skin looked back at her from a face similar to hers. But she felt no love for that small form.
In fact, all she felt was annoyance and a need to hurt something.
"Why can’t you look like him? Why do you only look like me except for the eyes? If you looked a little like him, then I... Maybe I should put you out of your misery..."
Sera reached for the fragile child in front of her, and her hand wrapped around that neck softly.
Before she could put any pressure, her father came into the room and grabbed her hand.
"What are you doing? Have you lost your mind? That child is yours and Prince Kaiden’s. If you want to attract him back, then you need that kid."
Sera pulled her hand back as if she had been burned, and tears filled her eyes.
"B-But I... that ex-companion... his child looks exactly like Prince Kaiden’s. And he also looks a little older. W-What am I to do now?"
Sera asked with a broken sob.
Her father immediately gestured for everyone to leave before he clutched her shoulder.
"Do not worry about him. I have ways to take care of him. Once we get rid of him, we can frame it on Princess Lortuz and get her out of the way as well. But I need you to pull yourself together for now."
Sera pulled herself together, and her eyes shone as she looked at her father.
"I... that sounds complicated. Do you think we will be able to do this?"
She asked in a low voice, and her father patted her shoulder.
"Don’t worry. I told you that I have my ways. But I need you to pull your own weight and make sure to alienate that ex-companion from high society. We will make it so that he asks to go back himself. The only one who can stand by Prince Kaiden’s side is you."
Sera’s father reminded her, and she nodded.
"The only one who can stand by Prince Kaiden’s side is me."
She repeated those words, now fully believing them. She did not care what she had to sacrifice to make them happen. She was going to do it.
Her son was just another piece she had now.
"I understand what I need to do, father. I will make sure this return is memorable for that ex-companion."
Sera assured before she left.
Her father, who watched her leave, had a tired look on his face.
"Tsk, that stupid daughter of mine... if only she was a little smarter, I wouldn’t have to work so hard in the shadows."
A lot of people had noticed what happened this time, and there was a lot of gossip floating around.
If it was not controlled now, then it would spread like wildfire, and they would lose their ground. So it was now time to act.
’I will make sure that my ex-companion, Shuu, regrets even coming in my way.’
__________
"This might not be much, but please make sure to use this room as you like. But since we did not have much time, it might not be up to your standards."
Princess Danielle welcomed Shuu into the room she had especially prepared for him. Shuu quickly looked around the room, but it felt far too grand for his liking.
He was afraid to touch anything, in case it broke and he was forced to pay for it. The only safe space seemed to be the bed, where he put Caelis for now.
"Hmm, this bed is far too big for a child. I will have a crib delivered to this room as soon as possible. Don’t worry. We will take care of you, so if there is anything you want, please let me know."
Princess Danielle spoke softly so as not to startle Shuu. But he was already beyond startled and remained quiet.
She took it as a sign for her to leave now, not wanting to stress him out even more. With one last look at the room, Shuu was finally left alone, and he felt like he could breathe again.
It felt like too much had happened already, and he felt drained. He reached for his son and held him close.
"I wonder if Nero will come here soon. Until then, I cannot trust anyone or anything. I will need to make sure everything is alright."
Shuu promised as he felt his eyes closing. The stress of what he had endured was pulling him under.
For a second, he thought he saw Caelis’s eyes open, but he fell asleep before he could entertain that thought.
His sleep was empty, and when he woke up, he felt a little staggered. But he quickly pushed his body up and looked around.
"Caelis...?"
He asked, turning around. Thankfully, the child was fine and had just rolled around on the bed a little. But that small thing gave Shuu’s heart a small attack.
His stomach reminded Shuu that it was empty, and it was time for him to eat something. But calling for food seemed like something he could not do.
Still, it was not something he could put on hold. Especially since he had a kid with him.
"Shall we go out and look for food ourselves?"
Shuu asked the kid in his arms, who just smiled and reached for him back.
Caelis was too young to know much of anything, and yet he had become Shuu’s entire world. Just picking up the child made Shuu feel better.
He quickly opened the door, only to be surprised by the presence on the other side.
Prince Kaiden stood in front of him, his hand outstretched and ready to knock at the door. But as soon as he noticed that Shuu had opened the door, he stopped and straightened his back.
Shuu felt surprised by that visit, but he quickly recovered and asked the important question.
"Do you want something?"
