[BL]The Hero and his Party Won't Let Me Go-Chapter 37: Ch : Comparison
"Are you sure you want to leave now, Prince Kaiden? Staying a few more days won’t be a bad idea. Kana can look after you-"
"No, it’s fine. We are already behind schedule, so we need to head out. There are more villages waiting for our help."
Prince Kaiden quickly turned the high elder down before he could suggest any more of his nonsense. But the high elder was not done.
"I see. Then, why not take Kana with you? She can act as your retainer as well as support. She is good in combat and would be more useful than someone-"
"High elder, do you want to see bloodshed right now? If not, then keep your mouth shut."
The elder quickly fell quiet at the threat. He glared at Shuu, considering him the reason Prince Kaiden was so angry with him, but Shuu pretended not to notice.
"Alright, we should get going now. Our next stop is the holy city of Arcana. Our companion is waiting for us there."
Liam quickly interfered before things could get worse, and he smiled at both sides before the carriage took off.
Reina just scoffed as she watched the village becoming smaller and smaller until she could not see it anymore.
"Finally, some peace and quiet. Those swordsmiths really need to know when to keep themselves in check."
She complained as she relaxed as well.
Shuu agreed with her internally, but he did not say or show it on his face. He was just happy to finally be out of that uncomfortable place. Even if he still had his fever, the lack of tension helped him feel better.
The carriage traveled for a while, and Shuu started to fall asleep. His head banged against the window frame, and it hurt. But that was the only comfortable position he could be in.
Prince Kaiden noticed his plight and quickly pulled him by his side before helping Shuu rest his head on Prince Kaiden’s neck.
Shuu was barely tall enough for this to work, but Prince Kaiden helped him out by shifting around until his shoulder was the correct height.
Just when Shuu was about to fall asleep, Liam spoke up.
"Ah, it’s time for the medicine. Let me find it for you... Prince Kaiden, can you please wake up Shuu? We need to make sure he takes his medicine on time."
Liam reminded everyone, and Shuu let out an almost groan as he forced his eyes open.
He wanted to complain that he was fine, but before he could, he had a few pills in front of him and a bottle of water.
Prince Kaiden’s hand rested on his back, and the older rubbed circles around his lower back. The touch was normal, but it still made Shuu shiver.
"Here, you should take this pill because it will help you feel better."
Prince Kaiden passed the pill to Shuu, and as much as he wanted to protest, he could not do that anymore. So he ended up taking the pill and then going to sleep.
When he woke up next time, their carriage was pulling up into a beautiful city made up of white. All the houses were painted white, and the city was built on a hill.
"Look up there. That is the pride of the holy city-the sanctuary where the goddess’s relics were kept. Only the chosen people can move those relics, and it is said that even the saintess is not capable of moving the relics, and because of this, she had to shift to another temple every generation."
Liam explained. He paused to see if anyone was listening to him or not before he continued.
"The only one who has been able to move the relics is the hero. Even their partners cannot move the relics... still, it doesn’t hurt to try, right?"
Liam asked, but Shuu was not that interested in all that. He doubted that he, out of all people, would be able to pull out a relic that belonged to the goddess. He did not even have her blessing.
"Alright, we are almost there. Hare, change into this robe. This will tell everyone that we are Prince Kaiden’s servants, and they will allow us to pass without much fuss."
Shuu took the robe that was offered to him by Liam. It had a subtly different design compared to both Reina and Liam (who had the same design), and it was tailored weirdly. It was tight around his head, and Shuu felt his breath getting stuck. 𝚏𝕣𝕖𝚎𝚠𝚎𝚋𝚗𝐨𝐯𝕖𝕝.𝕔𝐨𝕞
But it did not feel right for him to complain, so he decided not to speak about his discomfort.
However, his desire to go unnoticed was not heard by the gods, because Prince Kaiden ended up noticing his discomfort.
One second, Shuu was struggling with the robe; the next, it was lying on the ground, and he could breathe normally. The robe had been rendered completely useless and unrecognizable.
"You don’t have to wear the robe if it is restricting your airflow. Who even packed this robe anyway?"
There was an awkward silence as Liam and Reina exchanged glances. Finally, Liam was the one who answered Prince Kaiden.
"Actually, the reason the robe was smaller than intended was because it was made for Lady Sera. We... did not have time to prepare anything new for Shuu..."
Liam’s words made Prince Kaiden’s anger cool down. Sera’s name brought rationality back to his mind, but it still felt like he had swallowed something sour.
"Ah, that makes sense. But since Sera is not here with us, make sure you pack all the stuff made for her and order new stuff for Shuu. He might be slim, but he is neither female nor Sera. We cannot expect them to share stuff."
Prince Kaiden’s words sounded caring, but Shuu felt a little awkward with that attention. He especially did not like the fact that Prince Kaiden was drawing a line between him and Sera.
It was a given that the crown prince would not hold him in the same regard he held his beloved. But Shuu still felt hurt by all this anyway.
