[BL]The Hero and his Party Won't Let Me Go-Chapter 233: Ch : First time in a dunegon
The secretary’s eyes looked Shuu up and down with an uneasy expression. Something about that irritated Shuu and made him want to hide himself.
But because of the secretary, everyone else was looking at him as well, so Shuu decided to show a confident side of himself instead.
"I am afraid I cannot do that. I am here to take part in this trial fair and square, just like everyone else. You have no right to tell me to go back or anything." 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂
Shuu confirmed this to the secretary, and the guide looked taken aback by his response.
But still, the secretary did not seem to be the one to back down, and he immediately responded to Shuu’s provocative message (the secretary was mistaken).
"Hey, does your life not matter to you? Or do you think that this job is a joke? We are all fighting here in order not to die, and you just want to make things even more complicated for us? You don’t even have any power as an esper that I can sense, and you want to tell me that you will be fine in there all on your own?"
The secretary questioned in a tense voice.
More and more people were starting to look their way, which caused Shuu to feel like he needed to hide. But he kept his head straight and faced the secretary head-on.
"I don’t see why my decision is any of your problem. Power or not, I signed the waiver form as well stating that I would like to participate in this trial. You no longer have any grounds to stop me."
Shuu made sure he stood firm, and the secretary looked even more frustrated.
He did not even understand why he was feeling like this toward a candidate. He had no reason to feel threatened, so then why...?
The secretary guide sighed and decided to give in. But just before he turned around, he felt the S-class esper wrap his arms around his shoulders and speak right in his ear.
"Hmm, what is going on here? Are you all having a meeting without me? Secretary Ann, what is going on here? Would you care to explain it to me as well?"
Yuri Blinskey wrapped his arms around his secretary and asked this question in a playful manner. But his eyes remained vigilant, and they looked at Shuu in a searching manner. Their gaze was sharp as it went up and down and then all over Shuu’s body.
Shuu ignored that gaze and stood still, not showing even a single emotion on his face.
Secretary Ann noticed his boss’s interest in Shuu, and he unconsciously reacted to this by placing himself in the middle of the two.
"Alright, this is enough. We need to get heading back, or we will be late. Sir, it’s time for us all to head in."
Yuri Blinskey finally blinked at his secretary’s words. But his gaze did not leave Shuu even for a single second.
The more the S-class esper looked at Shuu, the more Shuu was sure that he was not safe. But he had to pretend he did not notice any of this for the sake of his new job.
"Boss... we need to get moving."
The secretary whispered once more. But this time, he nudged his boss to remind him that they needed to move. Shuu also shifted from one foot to another, and Yuri Blinskey finally moved.
"You are right. We need to get going now so that we can finish this trial early. Everyone, get ready to enter the gate. And use your safety stone if you feel like you are in danger. I will come and save you immediately."
The S-class esper’s assurance made everyone feel a little better, and they stepped inside the dungeon one by one.
Shuu was not shy either. He disappeared inside the portal. But he kept his eyes on the two men until he vanished.
Outside the portal, both Yuri Blinskey and his secretary watched the people disappear beyond the gate. Now they had to wait for a few minutes before following.
But for some reason, Secretary Ann could not shake the bad feeling he kept having. His instincts kept telling him that this whole thing was dangerous and that he needed to get these people out of danger.
He paced nervously in front of the dungeon’s opening and kept looking at it from time to time.
"Calm down, Secretary Ann. This is not the first time we are conducting this test. Everyone who signed up for it seemed to know what they were doing. And if anything bad were to happen, they would use the safety stone to get out."
The esper assured him without any fear, and the secretary knew that his boss was right. There was no need for him to feel this nervous.
And yet, he could not help but still feel uneasy about what was happening. There was just... something in the air that made the secretary feel like he had to stay on his toes.
He did not even know why he was having this feeling or what it meant. But he did know that it was not good for his mental health.
"Sir, are you sure it will be fine inside the dungeon? I just... have this bad feeling that we should keep an eye on things ourselves this time."
The secretary complained, not expecting his young master to take him seriously.
But contrary to his belief, the esper looked like he was thinking, and he ultimately pushed himself to stand up.
"Hmm, maybe you are right. This situation feels a little fishy to me as well. I also think we should investigate it. So, are you coming with me or not?"
Yuri Blinskey asked as he extended his hand toward his secretary. His secretary looked shocked but then elated as soon as he realized that his esper was relying on him.
He immediately placed his hand in the esper’s, and the esper dragged Secretary Ann beyond the gate’s limits.
Seconds later, a mutated body appeared beyond the gate and tried to reach for help.
But no one was there to help him.
