It did not escape Shuu’s notice that Sasha had only hinted at Rin being able to get away. Either that was a slip of the tongue (Shuu hoped), or she knew something Shuu did not and believed that he would not be able to escape.

Whatever the reason for that slip of the tongue was, Shuu did not like it, and he wanted to get out of this place as soon as possible.

’I need to start looking for a way back to my world. Kaiden won’t be happy that I died. I am not sure if others would be able to handle Kaiden and his anger...’

Shuu shuddered just thinking about what was going on. He did not even want to imagine facing Kaiden’s anger, so he decided to throw it all out of his head and focus on the present.

Sasha was lost in her thoughts as well, but she quickly gathered herself and gave Shuu her suggestion for what he should do next.

"For now, try to get some rest. We have a few ways to get Rin out of here, but the best time would be during the ’Class Identification’ test. Everyone who has awakened, be it a guide or an esper, is tested to see if they are ’high-class’ or not. Both you and that kid will need to go through that test soon as well. Maybe within this week or so. Even the boss cannot hide you from that test. That will be the best time for Rin to catch someone’s eye and be able to get away."

This was a lot to take in. It was just too much information for Shuu to keep up with.

Seeing him overwhelmed by all this news made Sasha sigh, and she threw a device toward him to use.

"Here, look up what you need to. But don’t bother calling anyone. Boss Honda keeps tight supervision over the internet and call usage. You don’t want to get in trouble for nothing and lose your freedom."

Sasha told Shuu before leaving him alone.

Rin had decided to fall asleep while cuddling on Shuu’s lap, and that left him with a lot of free time he did not know what to do with. So he decided to gather information.

He had seen people use this ’strange device’ Sasha had given him, but Shuu had never used it before. Still, he tried to do what he had seen others do-press any buttons he saw and tap on the screen.

The machine turned on, and a sudden voice greeted him.

"Hello~ My name is Siri. How may I help you?"

Shuu almost threw the phone away, but he calmed his fast-beating heart and slowly came back to his senses. That helped him realize that this was just technology and no one had managed to cast a spell on him... probably. 𝒻𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝘯𝘰𝑣ℯ𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝘮

Not that Shuu had time to mess around. He had a lot of problems to resolve, and first he needed more information.

"Can you help me search for information related to espers and guides?"

Shuu expected to have a light reading experience. But the more he read, the deeper the knowledge hole became until he was buried neck-deep in reading and trying to understand just what kind of world he was currently in.

It was too much information, and Shuu did not even understand most of it. But what he did know was that this world was dangerous. Shuu and Rin were lucky to end up here together.

But that also made Shuu feel a little lonely, and his mind went back to the people he had left behind in another life.

"Caelis, Kaiden... I wonder what you both are doing? Are you living a good life? Did Kaiden take another life? And did Caelis get a proper mother? What about Prince Yunn and Princess Danielle’s wedding? It sure turned into a mess... I hope they are having a fun time ahead. I-I miss them all..."

Shuu was not the sentimental type, but he was suddenly recalling everything that had been taken from him.

He had no way to get it all back, and the sooner he accepted this, the better it would be for him. Otherwise, these memories would keep dragging him into despair over something he could no longer have.

"Should I look for ways to forget everything? There must be at least one ability here that would allow me to do that?"

Shuu was just joking around... for now. But he was not sure if he would actually follow through with something like that or not. And that was a terrifying thought to have.

"H-How could this happen? Our equipment... Is it damaged? W-What do we do now? How do we test the others?"

Everyone watched in amazement as the seven-year-old kid just broke the measuring equipment in front of him. This had never happened before, and even S-class espers had a hard time against that thing.

It left everyone with just one thought-just how strong is this kid?

"Tsk, it was so easy to break. Do we really have to take this exam, father? This is so boring."

Caelis complained as he walked back toward his father. Kaiden just smiled at him and patted his hair once he was close enough.

Before Kaiden could say anything, the one conducting the test immediately ran into the room, and with a determined look on his face, he gave the pair a small bow.

"Thank you for applying to test your esper class. But may I have a chance to talk with you both in private? There is something we need to confirm with you two."

The chairman of the Esper-Guide Association was looking at the father-son pair with unwavering eyes. But it was not a good look for anyone to have.

Caelis frowned at the possessive light in the elder man’s eyes, and he quickly turned his head away. He did not want to be here. He wanted to be out there, looking for Shuu and Rin.

But unfortunately, his father wanted to use these humans to make the search faster, so Caelis was forced to comply with them... for now.
