Chapter 331: 331: Skills Or...?

The audience gasped at the sight. Eden held onto the bow with three arrows, pulling it steadily while setting his eyes attentively on the board.

He was about to pull off a big one. And everyone was shocked.

"What the hell does he think he’s doing?" one said.

"Three? He couldn’t even do one! What makes him think he can pull off three? Is he kidding or what?"

"He just wants to show off now, because there’s no way he’s going to get that."

"I know, right?!" some laughed, already expecting a flop shot, while some stared in anticipation.

Helen, on the other hand, smiled. "Interesting. You shouldn’t judge too early, because it’s obvious he’s going to get it."

The men around stared at her.

"What rubbish?"

"You’re delusional."

"There’s no fucking way."

But Marcus smiled, too. He was curious to see how the shot would go.

Eden was quiet. One eye closed, the other open as he tried to pick up the target.

He calmed his nerves and himself, and then he set his target, pulling the arrow firmly, about to shoot.

"Give up already," Evans laughed. "You’re just going to make a fool of yourself—"

"Shut up, you’re distracting me," Eden snapped, leaving him speechless and offended.

Eden pulled the arrow and it flew—all three of them. He had used his powers to set them in motion, and the three moved in perfect unison until they all hit the same target: the bullseye.

Eden smiled. "Perfect."

The audience was quiet. Shocked was an understatement. They all stared at the bullseye where the arrows hit.

Some began clearing their eyes to make sure they saw what happened and weren’t just seeing things.

"Huh?"

"Did I see this right?"

"Did he really...? Huh? How’s that possible... what..."

Everyone was shocked. Soon, the place was filled with murmurs from different corners in shock. And Eden smiled.

He didn’t stop. Eden picked up three more and shot. They all hit the target effortlessly.

It was Evans’s turn, and he turned and stared at him with a smile. "Your turn, so let’s see what you’ve got."

Evans was triggered and instantly felt competitive at that moment.

"What the hell do you think you are... special?" he snapped. "I’m obviously better."

Evans walked up to the spot and picked up his bow. He picked three arrows and set them. He turned to the board and was ready.

Eden smiled.

The audience cheered with the hope that he’d hit it and put Eden to shame. They began cheering loudly as he shot the three arrows in motion.

None of them even hit the board. The three arrows all fell to the floor even before they got to it.

It was a massive failure of an attempt.

The crowd went quiet. They stared at the arrows and then at Evans.

"Ah..."

"That didn’t go well..."

"That’s a miss..."

"Oh..."

Eden laughed as Evans glared at him coldly. His ego was at risk, so he picked up three more. He shot them, and the three missed again. Pissed, he picked two more and shot. One hit 7 spots away from the bullseye and one completely missed the board.

He gasped while staring at the board. He had lost a lot of points, and he wasn’t sure he was winning this round.

Eden smiled as he tapped him on the shoulder. "Nice try, but step aside." Eden stepped onto the spot and picked up his arrow.

He picked up three, his powers in session. He made a shot and the three hit the bullseye. He picked up another three and shot, and they hit the bullseye.

For his last shot, Eden picked up four and shot. All four of them consecutively hit the bullseye, and a massive gasp broke out amongst the audience.

"He’s an archery genius!"

"That’s amazing!"

And without realizing, the audience suddenly began cheering for Eden. The once cold audience switched up and began cheering for him.

The archery round was over, and the results were clear as crystal. Eden had won this round, and the audience began cheering for it.

"That was actually so cool!"

"Woah! I never knew he could pull it off! He didn’t look like someone who was good at it."

"That’s epic."

"But guys, doesn’t this mean that we’ll lose the bet and our money?"

"Ah."

"Is it too late to switch?"

"Don’t worry, guys, it’s only the first round and he was just lucky."

"Exactly. Maybe he’s only good at archery. Evans is a pro in the remaining rounds. He’ll surely win the two and win overall."

"True."

Evans stared at the results displayed on the board in shock. He couldn’t believe someone could beat him by such a wide margin.

He stared at Eden. "What’s your secret? What did you do?"

Eden smiled. "Why? You can’t accept that someone is better than you, huh?" He raised an eyebrow.

Eden didn’t bother staying with him. He walked off as he said, "Instead of crying here, better go get ready for the next round."

Evans clenched his fist as he watched Eden leave. He had lost this round, so he was going to make sure he won the next round by all means.

****

The next round was HORSE RACING.

The audience was cheering for them, mainly for Evans.

The two mounted their horses. Evans’s horse was black, while Eden’s horse was white. The two of them sat on their horses at the mark, ready for the race.

The rules were simple, and they were spelled out for them.

The first person to cross the finishing line ON their horse wins.

You must not step down from your horse. Anyone who falls from their horse or gets down in the middle loses automatically.

You must be on the horse from beginning to end.

They both nodded as they stared at each other. Evans smiled smugly. "You must have gotten lucky the last time. But this time, you’re not getting anywhere."

Eden scoffed. "Instead of making baseless brags, you should be more worried about whether you can even see my back in this round." He winked at Evans as he turned, holding the reins of his horse firmly.

Evans was pissed; he clenched his fist around his reins as he scoffed. "We’ll have to see about that."
