Chapter 319: 319: How Long.

A grand room was in view. A room beautifully decorated with golden ornaments and classical picture paintings meticulously hung on the wall of the room. There was a king-sized bed laying there in the middle.

And on this bed sat someone who had just gotten up: Felix.

Felix ran a hand through his hair as he looked around. He stared around the room with a confused expression, trying to grasp where he was and how he had gotten there.

His brain didn’t seem to be working as he wanted it to. He seemed confused in every way possible as he looked around. Nothing seemed to be coming together as he’d like.

Just then, the door of the room was pushed open and Mr. Albert walked in. Behind him was a male servant holding a tray.

Felix looked up to see his father. He recalled him perfectly well. "Father... what..." He ran a hand through his hair. "You... what happened? Why are you here?"

He sounded confused.

Mr. Albert went to sit down beside him, running a hand through his own hair. He gave him a concerned stare and let out a soft smile.

"Where am I? What happened?" Felix asked.

Mr. Albert smiled as he shook his head. "Nothing much. Don’t worry about anything and don’t think too much. You just had an accident and fell unconscious. And here...? Well, this is your room. Where you’ll stay for the meantime."

Felix looked around, but he still looked confused. He still wasn’t satisfied with the explanation. It felt as though there was something he was missing.

He ran a hand through his hair, closed his eyes, and struggled to pull the strings together and recall something.

Mr. Albert stared at him during the process. "What’s wrong?"

"Where... where is he? The wizard... I think... I recall something... a party or something..." His head was messing with him, but he was struggling to recall at least a little.

Mr. Albert’s expression fell as he stared at him. He hated that Felix remembered, and he knew it was going to be troublesome.

He smiled as he turned to the male servant who had brought the drink. He took it and casually handed it to Felix

"Your head seems to hurt. Take this and sip a bit, and then you can continue thinking. Don’t stress yourself too much," he explained. "Take it."

Felix didn’t complain. He took the water and gulped it down. As soon as he was done drinking, Mr. Albert smiled.

"That’s more like it. Now take a rest. Okay? Rest it out, and later we’ll talk about it. You don’t seem to be in your best state now, so don’t stress yourself further," he explained.

"But I..." Felix tried to speak, but he felt a rush of dizziness through his head. It didn’t let him speak further, and Mr. Albert slowly calmed him down.

"Take a rest. You’re not in the best condition. I promise if you wake up, then we can talk. Okay?" he said.

Mr. Albert assured him, and Felix slowly lay back down in bed without arguing. He looked tired and exhausted. His head was seemingly hurting, so he didn’t say much. He simply lay back down and soon fell asleep.

Mr. Albert sat there watching as he slept. Once he had accomplished that, he sighed with a nod. Soon, he got to his feet and said, "Always keep an eye on him, and remember to tell me if you see him waking up. Okay?"

The guards there nodded in agreement with a simple, "Yes."

Mr. Albert added, "Don’t fail to tell me on time so he doesn’t wander around. Unless I’ll make you all pay."

"Yes," they said again.

Mr. Albert stared at his son who was sleeping. Then he turned and walked off.

The servant boy followed him as he walked away, the tray and cup still in his hand. As soon as they got outside, the boy asked him, "How long do you plan on repeating the cycle? Feeding him the same medicine and putting him back to sleep again and again. How long?"

Mr. Albert sighed. "As long as I can. For as long as I can keep him in bed and protect him. For as long as I can get done with all I have to do to keep him safe."

It wasn’t Mr. Albert’s first time giving Felix this medicine. And it wasn’t Felix’s first time waking up to it, either. He had been waking up for a while, and Mr. Albert always visited with the same drink.

He would calm him down whenever he asked troubling questions. He would put him back to sleep with the medicine while also gently wiping his memory. And Felix would wake up again without memories of the previous time he had woken up.

It had become a cycle.

The boy stared at him from behind. "Are you sure the medicine is safe, though? You’ve been giving it to him a lot. What if it has side effects?" 𝕗𝚛𝚎𝚎𝐰𝗲𝗯𝗻𝚘𝚟𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝕞

"It won’t. It’s all to protect him, and it’ll be okay. I can’t let the Emperor know that he’s awake. I can’t let him summon him and get him involved. I can’t let that happen... He should be safe here. He shouldn’t be involved. That’s better for him. And I’ll keep on repeating the cycle until he’s safe."

The boy said nothing for a while, just stared at Mr. Albert. He could tell Mr. Albert had already set his mind on whatever he was doing. No one was going to turn his mind away from it.

"But what if the Emperor gets impatient and comes himself or something?" he asked.

Mr. Albert shook his head. "By then, I’ll find something else to cover up with. A way to protect him. It’ll be alright. He’ll be alright. I won’t let anyone get him involved. I’ll protect him." He continued walking. "So don’t worry about it all. I have it all under control."
