"Your brother?" Eden repeated.

"Yes. My younger brother. He’s studying at the Imperial Military Academy," Adrian explained.

Eden paused. He wanted to ask if Adrian had a younger brother, but then he thought for a while. He recalled the family portrait he saw the last time he was here.

"Ah, your younger brother. He’s there?" Eden asked.

"Yes. So that should be good enough protection for you," Adrian smiled.

Eden nodded. "I guess. Thanks."

"Don’t mention it. Just make sure you write to me if anything happens. And also be careful not to catch the attention of anyone, especially the emperor. Be in disguise if you may..."

"You don’t have to lecture me. I know how to be careful," Eden said.

Adrian nodded. "Okay then. I won’t worry too much," he sighed. "I’m done eating and want to go take my bath..." He looked up at Eden. "Do you want to come help me out?"

Helen stared at Lenny, and they stared at them again.

"I think I’m full," Helen said. "I should go and do other things."

"Me too," Lenny said, and he disappeared.

They left the two of them there as Adrian smiled at Eden. "They’re gone, so let’s go."

"No. I don’t feel like going with you," Eden said. "I’m tired; I’ll go and sleep."

"You’ve been sleeping for ages. At least spare some time for me."

"Are you some kid or something?" Eden tilted his head.

"Yes. And a sick kid," Adrian stretched out his hands and held onto Eden’s. "So come and keep me company."

Eden didn’t know Adrian could be this clingy.

"Don’t worry, you don’t have to join me in taking my bath. I was just teasing you. I just want you to spend the night with me in bed."

"...." Eden blinked in shock.

Adrian smiled. "Not like that. I just want to hold you while I sleep. It’s strange how much I’ve missed you... so I want to make up for it all," he smiled. "But if you want to do the other thing, I can also..."

"No," Eden said. "Don’t even think about it."

Adrian smiled. "So come and keep me company in bed. I’m sick, so at least come and do that."

Eden stared at him. He would have said no, he wanted to. But he guessed his heart wanted otherwise. And so he found himself nodding. "Okay then. I’m only considering you because I’m leaving tomorrow, so..."

Adrian smiled. "That’s good then. Let’s go."

"You can go ahead. I’ll be there in a second. I’ll go wash up and get changed first. I’ve probably been sleeping in this for ages now."

Adrian smiled. "You sure you don’t want to wash up in my room?"

"I’ll pass," Eden smiled as he got up. "See you then." He left Adrian there smiling.

Eden was done taking a quick bath and dressing up into something more casual for sleeping. Afterwards, he made his way to Adrian’s room.

On getting there, the guards let him in without questions. And so Eden made his way through. As soon as he entered, he caught sight of Adrian half-naked.

Adrian was shirtless. He only had his towel around his waist while he stood before his mirror.

Eden paused for a while, staring at him from behind.

He wasn’t admiring his body, the outline of his muscles and his buffed build. He wasn’t lusting over any of those at the moment, but rather Eden’s eyes ran over the scars on his body.

Some of them didn’t seem like old ones. Eden could tell that some were injuries he had sustained from the fight he had at the banquet.

All because of him.

"Why are you staring at me like that? Do you suddenly want to do it with me after seeing my body?" Adrian stared at him from the mirror, a smile on his face.

Eden said nothing. He casually walked up to him from behind and ran a finger over his back. Gently outlining and caressing the old and new scars on his bare body.

Strangely, they made him more sexy.

"You must have been on the battlefield for like forever. Since you were young..." Eden said. It was a random thought, but he couldn’t help but think about how the novel had described Adrian as someone who had spent his childhood growing up in the military.

It was a description obviously made to exalt him into being admired. But Eden couldn’t look past how lonely and sad the material was.

He couldn’t help but think how sad, lonely, and scary it must have been for Adrian growing up in such a situation. In battlefields. Growing hard in the constant pain and loneliness of battle.

"Why are you suddenly bringing it up?" Adrian asked with a smile, looking at him through the mirror.

"I don’t know. I guess I’m pitying you," Eden said, his fingers still running over his body.

"Pitying me? Suddenly?" Adrian smiled.

"I don’t know," Eden said.

Adrian turned to face Eden, his hands wrapping around Eden’s waist as he pulled him in. Their faces were close and their bodies touched.

Eden couldn’t stop his palm from resting on Adrian’s bare chest as he stared into his deep dark eyes. His heart skipped beats.

"Your hands are all over me when I’m naked. Aren’t you scared that I’ll get triggered and want to do it with you, huh?" He smiled, staring at Eden.

Eden gulped. "Well, you can only probably get through with it if I permit."

"Then do you give your permission?" Adrian inquired.

"No," Eden smiled. "So go take your bath, My Lord."

Adrian smiled as he let go of Eden’s waist. "Sure. Are you sure you’re not coming in with me?"

"I’ll pass," Eden said. "So you should go and enjoy your bath, My Lord. While I’ll be out here waiting for you. Okay?" He raised an eyebrow.

Adrian smiled with a nod. "Okay then, if you say so. I’ll hurry up with my bath and come keep you company, my love," he winked as he turned and left for the bath chamber.
