[BL] Seducing Male Leads To Survive As A Villain In A Novel-Chapter 225: Not A Threat
The atmosphere was stiff and cold. King Edward had a smirk while his eyes met the cold glare of the Priest of Elzager.
"Your Majesty, please refrain from using provocative words you can’t account for," he said. "It won’t do anyone any good."
King Edward scoffed. "Is that so? Then I guess I’ll have to mind my language so I don’t provoke the Grand Priest of Elzager."
"You flatter me. I don’t deserve such considerations," he smiled. "And I wonder for what reason the King of Valencrest is so desperate to summon me. I fear if I’ll even be of much help. Or if Your Majesty is just overestimating my skills."
"How could I?" King Edward smiled. "I summoned you certainly because I know you’re more than capable of it. I’m never wrong with my judgement."
They stared at each other, exchanging cold glares in the tense atmosphere between them, before the Priest smiled. "So, how may I help you, Your Majesty?"
King Edward smiled. "You must have already been aware that I have an enemy living in my territory. An enemy that the whole world wants dead. One whom the Emperor would pay any price to have his head." He paused as he stared at the Priest. "I’m sure that’s no news to you anymore."
The Priest smiled. "You’ve overestimated my capabilities of being up to date with information. I don’t seem to know who you’re talking about."
King Edward smiled, staring at him. "How pretentious..." he muttered. "But that doesn’t matter. Because I’ll let you know anyway." 𝐟𝐫𝕖𝗲𝘄𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝕧𝐞𝚕.𝕔𝕠𝐦
"The Wizard of EL," King Edward said, his eyes studying the Priest’s reaction, which was strangely calm. "The Devil who has shaken the world to a great extent. One whom the whole world is after. One who is said to bear the power of the devil himself." He paused. "Does that ring a bell?"
The Priest was quiet, staring at King Edward with a calm expression. And then he suddenly smiled. "I might be a bit slow-witted with such affairs, but I do know of such a title. The Wizard of EL."
"Good then," King Edward adjusted himself. "That’s all I need. Because I summoned you here for an easy task—eliminate him."
The room was quiet, as though the King hadn’t just dropped an instruction. The Priest stared quietly for a while without saying anything.
King Edward said, "Did you not get the instruction, or... do I speak it in a more holy language?"
The Priest smiled. "I’m honoured that you view me in such high light. I’m flattered. But I think you must have overestimated me, Your Majesty."
He added, "I might be a great priest known to all for my pure essence of good and holiness. But I’m afraid I don’t have what it takes to take down the devil himself. I’m just a novice when it comes to this. So I’m afraid you’ve got the wrong person."
The King scoffed. "Holiness, my foot," he muttered to himself as he said, "Like I said, my judgement is never wrong. And I’m more than sure that you’re the perfect person for the job. So don’t look down on yourself, dear holy one."
Silence. Their eyes met again. Cold and hostile, but King Edward still smiled.
"The Wizard of EL is a great being. One of great evil. Shattering nations and taking down great soldiers while asleep. He’s way beyond what anyone can imagine. So what makes you think I, a lowly priest, can do anything about him?"
"A lowly priest?" King Edward asked. "How is that possible? Because a lowly priest definitely couldn’t have won such much glory as you have. I’m definitely sure that you have a way to anything. Because in the end, good always defeats evil, isn’t that so? And your holy spirit will always find a way."
"I’m sorry, but I might disappoint you," the Priest gave a slight bow. "I can’t do it, so I’ll have to take my leave now. I hope you find someone who can fulfill your desire..."
The Priest of Elzager slowly turned and began making his way to leave. But then King Edward leaned back on his throne.
Relaxed and with a smile, he said, "I wonder how the world will react when they find out what happened before the Wizard of EL came into being..."
He smiled. "I’m also curious to retell the great story of how Evil came to have a name...."
As his words drifted, the Priest of Elzager paused. He stood there, staring into thin air for a while. He slowly forced a smile as he turned to stare at the King. "Your Majesty, what is it now?"
King Edward smiled. "Do you think I called you here to ask for a favour, to know if you’d agree to do it or not? Of course not. I don’t have such patience. I called you here for you to do it. Not contemplate on it."
Silence. The Priest stared at him, his expression building up into fury. "Are you threatening me?"
"Not necessarily. How could I threaten a holy man? I just happen to know a couple of pieces of information from years back. One that I’m pretty sure you’d rather die than let the whole world know about..."
King Edward smirked. "So I’m just saying. I want to let you know that I can help you keep that secret, and keep your prestigious reputation as the Renowned Priest of Elzager. Only if you will be kind enough to help me with this one little request."
"That way, both of us win. Isn’t that right, Dear Priest?" King Edward scoffed while staring at the Priest.
The Priest stood there. His expression, cold and hostile, while he glared at the King. One could tell that if eyes and the mind could kill, the King of Valencrest would have already dropped dead right there and then.
But the Priest held himself, fist clenched, as King Edward smiled.
"So, what do you say?" King Edward asked. "Are you in or out?"
