[BL] Mr. Romano Contracted Husband-Chapter 84: Now I Understand
After Arcane recovered from his fever, he was finally allowed to go home after three days of treatment at the hospital. Julian felt relieved when he saw that Arcane’s face no longer looked pale, and he was back to his normal activities.
The day after his return, he went to school to teach as usual. At school, the students happily welcomed Arcane back. Moreover, he was their favorite teacher, which made them feel very happy.
"Good morning, Mr. Romano! You’re finally back at school. We missed you so much!" said one of the 10th grade students, her face beaming with joy along with her friends.
"Thank you. I just didn’t go to school for 5 days, and you already missed me?" he asked while ruffling their hair.
He walked away to the teachers’ room, greeting the other teachers who greeted him first. He sat in his usual chair, tidying up the desk he had left for a few days.
Not long after, Kyle arrived and his blue eyes sparkled when he saw him back in his seat. He walked over to him, just to greet him warmly.
"Arcane, are you okay? I’m glad to see you working again," he said.
"Oh, Kyle. Yes, I’m fine. That’s why I started working again today." Arcane replied with a slight smile, then focused on the book he would be using that day.
The white haired man who taught the language class, smiled back at him and sat down in his chair. Earlier, he had wanted to visit Arcane when he heard that he had come down with a fever. However, when he arrived, Arcane was not at home.
This made him feel a little disappointed, so he chose to leave. He arrived after Arcane had been taken to the hospital, which was why no one answered the door when Kyle arrived.
’It’s good to see him again. I’ve been really worried these past few days because I couldn’t stop thinking about him,’ Kyle thought at that moment.
The day went on as usual, as if nothing had happened. He taught as usual, chatted with the students and teachers, then sat in the cafeteria during lunch.
At that moment, a man approached him and sat down next to him. Arcane, who was sitting alone at the time, immediately turned his head to see who was sitting with him.
"Mr. Stamford," he said when he saw that it was his father sitting next to him.
"Hello, Mr. Romano, you don’t mind if I sit here, do you?" he asked politely.
Of course, Arcane didn’t mind at all, because he had seen the great effort his father had made for him. During the three days he was hospitalized, it was this man who paid the hospital bills and brought him food, such as fruits and sweets.
Slowly, Arcane began to soften toward everything his father had done for him, and he felt that it might not be such a bad thing to accept his father into his life. It would truly repair their relationship, just as Donald wanted.
"How are you today? I hope you’re feeling better... because if you’re still not feeling well, you can tell me."
"It’s okay, I’m feeling much better now. Thank you for doing so much for me," he replied.
Donald smiled when he heard this. He said that it was nothing compared to what Wilona had done for Arcane.
They had lunch together, although they didn’t talk about much. Until there was one thing Arcane wanted to know from him.
"Why do you so easily believe what Julian and I say about me being your son? I mean, you could think that we’re just trying to take advantage of you," he asked.
At first, Arcane thought that Donald was just someone who was easily trusting and accepted what they said, simply because it had to do with Wilona.
However, Donald’s answer was undeniable.
"You have the same eyes as me. Do you remember Ms. Emullate’s comment? She once said that our silhouettes were almost identical. She even thought you were me," he replied.
"So that’s how it is... We have a few things in common." Arcane now understood that Donald didn’t trust anyone’s words lightly.
He had been thinking about this for a long time, even considering the possibility that Arcane was related to Wilona.
But he tried to put all that aside because he didn’t want to misunderstand, thinking that the man next to him was the son of the woman he love for a long time.
"One thing we have in common is that we both like complicated things like mathematics. You are a math teacher and I used to be a physics teacher. I don’t think we need to do a DNA test just to prove something that is already obvious," he continued, chuckling.
Arcane laughed when he heard this, especially when Donald talked about how bad Wilona was at math. Arcane added that even at the end of her life, his mother was still very bad at math.
"Especially when she had to calculate the amount of money for change, she still needed a calculator or took a very long time to count using her fingers," Arcane recalled when his mother helped Grandma at her small restaurant.
"Really? Ahahaha... She never changed. Don’t tell me you’re the one who became her second calculator?"
"That’s right, sometimes when Mom can’t find her calculator and I’m nearby, she always calls me." Arcane confirmed this.
The two of them laughed together, breaking the awkwardness and coldness between them. They were like father and son who had known each other for a long time, and now they were talking about the only woman they loved in their lives, even though she was gone forever.
The teachers sitting at the other tables turned to look at them and wondered what they were actually talking about. But from the way they sat together and seemed to be discussing something pleasant, they could see how similar the two men were to each other.
"They look so happy. I wonder what they’re talking about?" asked one of the female teachers with a smile as she watched them.
"I don’t know. Maybe about women or soccer? Men really like to talk about things like that, right?"
Donald patted Arcane on the shoulder with a proud look at his son because he had the same ability as him. Arcane himself finally felt satisfied because his father had noticed him and his abilities.
’Mother... I think i starting understand why you loved this man so much.’
