[BL] Mr. Romano Contracted Husband-Chapter 79: The Moment He Couldn’t Get Out of His Mind
"You’re staying home. You’re not going to work today!"
Julian said this, emphasizing every word that came out of his mouth.
In the end, Arcane gave in and stood up with his help to return to the room. Julian covered his husband with a blanket and took the thermometer.
The result showed that he had a high fever, which made Julian very worried. He immediately took the medicine box to give his husband some fever medicine.
However, when he took the box, he found that there was only one fever pill left. This made Julian frown because they had forgotten to stock up on the medicine.
"What can we do? I’ll go out for a bit to buy some fever medicine. You stay at home. Don’t move from the bed until I return. I might also go to the grocery store."
"Okay, this time I’ll listen to you." Arcane could only resign himself to his current situation because his head was hurting more and more.
Julian immediately got up from where he was sitting and put on his jacket. For a moment, he looked back at his husband, unable to bear leaving him alone. But he had no other choice because this was also for Arcane’s own good.
When Julian left the house, Arcane closed his eyes to rest. Earlier, he had sent a message to one of his fellow teachers to say that he would not be coming in to teach that day.
"Maybe I should get some sleep, and then I’ll feel better."
He tried to close his eyes, but every time he did, he remembered his dream from last night about his mother coughing up blood when Arcane was 10 years old.
He could remember the incident so clearly. That was the first time he had seen his mother so weak, and she only survived for about six years before finally leaving him forever.
He sighed, trying not to think about it too much, but it felt so heavy.
"The more I think about it, the more my head hurts."
After Julian had been gone for almost 45 minutes, he finally returned with medicine and ingredients to make soup. Since he had often helped Arcane cook, he could now cook without his help. Though what he cooked was only simple food.
He made porridge and chicken soup, using the chicken broth to make the porridge taste better.
He poured the porridge mixed with soup into a bowl, and also prepared a glass of warm water and fever medicine.
"I hope he’ll get better soon after this. He’s really stubborn, but luckily he gave up on going to teach today," he muttered, shaking his head.
He carried everything on a tray and returned to the room. There, Arcane was lying down, his clothes wet with sweat. He couldn’t sleep, his head hurt too much to close his eyes.
"I brought porridge and soup. You have to fill your stomach before taking your medicine," said Julian, helping Arcane sit up.
The green haired man spooned the porridge into his mouth. Arcane slowly ate the porridge, then rubbed Julian’s head.
"Your cooking is getting better," he said, smiling weakly.
"At a time like this, you still have time to praise me? Hehe... But thank you, it’s all thanks to you. Now I can cook for you when you’re sick like this," replied Julian as he continued to feed him.
While eating, Julian noticed that Arcane seemed to be lost in his own thoughts from time to time. This made him worried and curious. What was wrong with him?
"You must be exhausted to fall ill like this. The cold air made it worse, so you got a fever," he said as he pushed Arcane’s bangs back and wiped the sweat from his forehead.
"Maybe so."
It was a short answer, but Julian, as his husband, was still worried. He put the empty porridge bowl on the table and held Arcane’s hand.
"Something happened? You seem lost in thought since earlier. You can tell me everything."
At first, he felt hesitant to say it. Because surely this would sound a little strange, but he knew Julian wouldn’t laugh at him at a time like this. Finally, he said everything.
"Actually... I’ve been dreaming about my mother for the past few days," he replied.
"Really? What was in your dream?" Julian admitted that he felt even more worried than thinking Arcane was a spoiled child after hearing his answer.
Arcane took a deep breath before answering the question.
"Her last moments."
At the same time, Kyle had just finished teaching and saw Arcane’s empty desk. He had thought that Arcane was late for class that morning. But now he knew that the man was sick and had decided not to go to school.
"Does he have a fever?" he asked the teacher who was in charge of recording teacher attendance.
"Yes, he sent me a message saying so. I hope he gets well soon and comes back to work as usual," replied the teacher, then focused on his notebook again.
Kyle, who knew this, fell silent for a moment. Should he go to the man’s house and visit him?
Especially since there were no extracurricular activities scheduled for today, he could go to Arcane’s house and come home a little late. He could tell Ethan that he had business at school.
With a smile on his face, he replaced the book in his hand and left the teacher’s room with several things on his mind.
Without him realizing it, someone was listening to his conversation with the other teacher.
That afternoon, Julian browsed cooking recipes on the internet. He wanted to make something suitable for Arcane at that moment. He didn’t want Arcane to just eat plain porridge with chicken soup. That’s why he intended to look for other recipes that might be good for someone who was sick.
"Curry? No, no, it will definitely be spicy for his mouth. Zuppa soup? Hmn... It will be troublesome if I go out to buy the dough. Cream of chicken soup? Hmn... Thick, sweet corn and chicken. I can add carrots too," he muttered.
He glanced at the wall clock, which showed that it was already 5:12 p.m. Julian put down his cell phone and went to the room to check on Arcane, to see if he was awake or asleep.
Luckily, Arcane was still fast asleep after taking his medicine and putting a fever patch on his head.
’It’s better if he stays asleep. His fever hasn’t gone down yet. Should I take him to the hospital?’ he thought at that moment.
He couldn’t drive a car, and he couldn’t ask Marshall for help because he was sure his cousin was busy working. That’s why he might call a taxi if he had to take his husband to the hospital.
Just as he was about to return to the kitchen, someone rang the doorbell. Julian immediately turned around, feeling curious and surprised. Who was coming to their house?
Dingdong!
"Yes, just a moment!"
The man walked toward the door and opened it for the person standing there. He was a little surprised to find a man standing in front of him.
"Ah, it’s you..."
