[BL] Mr. Romano Contracted Husband-Chapter 66: Wait... You Like My Husband?
Julian’s POV
I looked at him suspiciously. Why did he react like that? Or was I just overreacting? His reaction was like someone who had been caught red handed looking for someone he currently liked.
I didn’t understand, but some things made me suspicious of him after hearing all the stories Arcane had told me.
He was the only person who was close to Arcane. He often helped him and even made lunch for him.
Could a friendship be so close that it went that far? It was a huge effort for a friend to make lunch for him.
But for now, I don’t want to accuse him without proof, even though it’s clear that he likes Arcane. Shouldn’t he be married?
"I see. I thought you came alone and he was at home," he said.
I shook my head, saying that Arcane was also here. "He’s just answering the phone. He’ll be back soon."
I saw him nod, but his face was still red and he looked nervous. His face could have been red because he was cold, but why did he have to look so nervous?
Not long after, Arcane came back into the store and immediately approached me. He seemed surprised to see Kyle there, even though he tried not to show it too much.
"Kyle, what a coincidence to see you here," said Arcane, who I knew was just being polite.
I saw Kyle nod his head, smiling a smile that was different from the one he showed me. This smile seemed as if he was trying to hide his embarrassment, but also happy to see my husband.
"That’s right."
"Did you come alone?" Arcane continued to ask him, and again the man nodded his head.
"Ethan refused to go out because it’s very cold outside. So I went to buy a cake for tonight by myself. He chose to rest at home. My husband rarely goes out except for work. Unlike Mr. Julian," he replied.
Hearing that answer, Arcane suddenly wrapped his arm around my waist and pulled me closer.
"I see. I’m lucky that Julian prefers to be outside rather than just sitting around. We get to go out together and spend time together," he said.
It was unusual for him to do this. He wasn’t acting, was he? Our relationship normal like other couples, or is he doing this on purpose?
I could see Kyle’s reaction. He was watching Arcane’s hand on my waist. For some reason, this suspicion was becoming more and more obvious.
"In that case, we should pick out a cake and then leave. We also need to go shopping for tonight’s dinner party." Arcane then pulled me away from him, and I saw over my shoulder that Kyle was just standing there silently watching us.
After buying the cake, Arcane asked me to wait in front of the store while he took care of the payment and waited for the cake to be wrapped.
I left and waited in front of the store until Arcane came out. However, when I heard the store door open, it was Kyle who came out instead.
With a box of cake in his hand, he walked towards me as if he wanted to say something. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝒆𝔀𝒆𝙗𝓷𝒐𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝓶
"Mr. Julian."
I turned to him, "Yes. What is it?"
He looked silent, pressing his lips together until only a thin line was visible before finally speaking to me.
"I’m very jealous of you. You have a partner like Arcane who is so attentive and loves you. He is such a warm, patient, and wonderful person. I often watch him from the classroom window when he is teaching," he said, which suddenly surprised me.
So he meant that he often watched my husband from a distance, like a teenager in love?
Did he forget that Arcane was married?
"You’re very lucky, Mr. Julian." He smiled at me, but this time his smile looked more resigned and jealous.
Of course I was lucky. It was also nice to see other people feeling jealous.
"You’re right. I feel very lucky to have a husband like him. He is very attentive, even when I come home angry, he knows how to calm me down and make me feel better," I replied.
I could see his eyes flinch when I said that. I’m sure he felt even more jealous. But who cares? Arcane is my husband. Who told him to like someone who is already married?
At that moment, Arcane came out of the bakery and saw me with Kyle again. I immediately approached him and hugged him.
"You took so long! I’ve been waiting for you outside, it’s so cold without you!" I said with a smile and a spoiled tone.
I did it on purpose in front of him. I was curious to see how he would react.
As I expected, the smile faded from his face and he looked like he was clenching his fists in the pockets of his coat.
I nuzzled Arcane and then turned to Kyle again. "I’m sorry, I have a habit of suddenly hugging Arcane like that."
"It’s okay. I don’t mind. I should go anyway. Ethan must be waiting for me at home."
Without waiting for a response from me or Arcane, he walked away with his head down. I tried to hold back my laughter seeing him like that.
I know this sounds really mean, but I don’t like it when other people approach Arcane. He needs to be warned when we meet.
"You did that on purpose, didn’t you?"
I turned to Arcane, smiled mischievously at him, and nodded my head.
"Of course I did it on purpose. Besides, he clearly likes you! Are you that stupid that you don’t realize it?" I asked him.
Before he could answer my question, he flicked my forehead, which felt very painful. Although not as painful as usual.
"Of course I realize it, idiot. I’m just pretending not to know anything so he doesn’t think I know about this. Besides, since it’s become more obvious that he likes me, I’ve been keeping my distance from him a little," replied Arcane.
I nodded in understanding. He couldn’t completely distance himself from Kyle because the man was his coworker. They still worked at the same school, so it would be very awkward if Arcane suddenly pulled away from him.
I could only sigh and accept it, then he took my hand so we could go home.
"Didn’t you say we were going buy groceries?" I asked.
"Do you want to go shopping while carrying a box of cake like this in my hand? We can go out later this afternoon. Let’s put this cake in the fridge first, then we’ll go shopping for groceries later."
I nodded my head, and then the two of us walked home together. His hand kept holding mine while his other hand carried the strawberry cheesecake I had chosen earlier.
We smiled and laughed together on the way home, talking about a few things and also our plans for the new year.
I felt so relieved, and as Kyle said, I was very lucky to have met him.
A year ago, I had only intended to come to the big city to look for a job, but instead of just a job, I found a husband.
Did I ever feel regret?
I don’t think so.
How could I feel regret with a man who showed such care, even for someone like me?
