[BL] Mr. Romano Contracted Husband-Chapter 61: Who Is He Talking About?
Julian walked toward the principal when he saw him sitting alone on a bench under a tree. The middle aged man appeared to be holding something in his hand that made Julian curious.
’What is the principal doing here alone?’ he thought.
As soon as he approached, Donald seemed to notice his presence and immediately turned around with a surprised look on his face. He reflexively wiped the tears from his green eyes and put away the object in his hand, which was none other than a photo.
"Mr. Julian, what brings you here?" he asked.
"I’m sorry. Am I disturbing you? I was just curious because I saw someone sitting alone under a tree in this cold weather. Are you okay?" Julian asked gently.
The middle aged man looked a little confused about how to answer the question, but he nodded his head and said he was fine.
"I’m just reminiscing a little about the past under this tree."
He paused for a moment before finally continuing his sentence. "This tree holds many memories. It was right under this tree that I met someone who was very precious to me."
Julian, interested in hearing more, slowly sat down next to him and listened to his story. He recounted how he had spent a lot of time under this tree with a girl who was very precious to him.
He really liked that girl, the girl with such a beautiful face, even though she was very careless.
"She was so cheerful, active in doing everything. Even though she always got bad grades," said Donald with a slight blush on his face.
The man also said that under that tree, his relationship with the girl grew closer and closer. He still clearly remembered the smile on her face, especially when she called his name.
It was something he missed very much, but he knew he would never hear her voice again.
Julian, who was listening to the story, felt surprised and curious. Who was he talking about?
Was he talking about Arcane’s mother? Or did he actually have a relationship with another student after Arcane’s mother knowing?
’Maybe it was another student after her, right? But was he that bad?’ Julian thought curiously.
He wanted to believe that the principal was talking about Wilona. But he didn’t mention any characteristics of the girl, so he didn’t know who he was referring to. Moreover, he said that the girl was very careless and got bad grades.
Was Arcane’s mother like that?
Realizing that he had given information that he shouldn’t have, Donald immediately stopped talking and asked Julian not to tell anyone about this.
"I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have said that. But believe me, it happened a long time ago, even before I became principal. Can you keep this between us?" he asked Julian.
Of course, it could ruin his reputation as principal of the girls’ school. A teacher having a secret relationship with a student? That would be a big problem.
But Julian nodded his head. He said he would keep it a secret and not tell anyone.
"Besides, this is my last day of teaching. Next year, the art teacher will be back, right?" replied Julian.
"That’s right. She will return to teach at the school again. Well then, thank you for teaching at this school and thank you for keeping what I told you a secret."
They shook hands, a farewell greeting because Julian might not see him again, or even if they did, it would only be by chance on the street.
However, Julian was still curious about the girl he had mentioned. Before leaving, he asked one question that might give him a clue about who she was.
"If I may ask, where did she go? You said you couldn’t see her again. Did she move far away or did she marry someone else?"
Donald paused for a moment, then answered the question. "I never knew. After graduation day, she left and I never heard anything about her again. Maybe now she’s married and has her own family."
Getting no further information from that answer, Julian finally nodded and walked away. He remembered that Arcane had said his mother left three months after graduation day. Was that the same as what Donald had said?
"She left after finding out she was pregnant with Arcane. Is she the same girl he mentioned?" he muttered curiously.
But if they were indeed the same girl and the principal couldn’t forget about her, why did he end up marrying Alina, the daughter of the school’s owner?
For now, he wanted to put that aside and focus on walking home. He had to get home before the snow fell even harder.
When he arrived home, Arcane was waiting for him. His expression was serious, his hands folded in front of his chest.
"Why are you just coming home? It’s already 6:40 p.m. You’re usually home by 6:20 p.m. Why did you take so long to come home today?" he asked in an interrogative tone.
"I just had some business to take care of outside. I was 20 minutes late. Why are you acting like I came home three hours later than I should have?"
He casually took off his shoes, and Arcane sighed. He looked worried because Julian hadn’t come home yet. Moreover, the snow outside was falling heavier, and he was worried that Julian would be stuck at school because of the sudden snowstorm.
"I was just talking to the principal. We were discussing something, so I came home late," replied Julian.
Hearing that he had talked to the principal, Arcane furrowed his brow and asked what they had discussed. At first, Julian didn’t know what to say, but he made up an excuse that they had only discussed his expired employment contract.
"My students want me to keep teaching. But my contract ended today, so this is my last day. That’s all we talked about," he replied, making up an excuse.
He deliberately lied to her because he didn’t want Arcane to be sad if it turned out that Donald was talking about someone else and not his mother. 𝒻𝘳ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝒷𝘯ℴ𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝑐ℴ𝑚
So he wanted to keep it to himself for now until Arcane might get more information about his father.
"Alright. Go take a shower now and warm yourself up. Dinner will be ready soon," Arcane said, then helped Julian take off his coat and watched the man head toward the bathroom.
Even though the reason given was very convincing, Arcane was certainly not stupid enough to believe it. He knew Julian was hiding something about what he had discussed with Donald.
"Maybe he’ll tell me later."
