Chapter 26: Something That Make Them Realize

When Grandma heard that Julian was Arcane’s husband, the old woman immediately approached him and hugged him too. At first Julian felt a little awkward, but he soon returned the hug and felt that Grandma was just like any other grandmother.

"Then sit down. Have you had lunch yet? I’ll make something for you," she said enthusiastically.

However, Arcane looked around the kitchen and saw that only Grandma was there.

"Where are the others? You can’t be alone, right?" he asked.

"The others are shopping at the vegetable distributor," replied Grandma.

"Why are they shopping there? Don’t they usually deliver vegetables to every store or restaurant?" asked Julian.

The old woman explained that if they asked the vegetable or food distributor to come to her place, it would add to the cost. That’s why she usually sent her employees to pick up the necessary food supplies.

Julian nodded in understanding. He had just learned about this. He had been worried. How could the woman handle this alone afterward?

But since the restaurant wasn’t very busy at the time, she could indeed handle it herself.

However, that didn’t last long.

Suddenly, a group of soldiers came in through the front door of the restaurant and sat down in the empty seats. There were quite a few of them, and if Arcane counted them, there were 17 people.

"Oh my god, it’s so crowded!" said Julian in surprise as he looked at the 17 soldiers ordering food and drinks.

Unfortunately, the restaurant staff hadn’t returned yet, and it was impossible for Grandma to cook 17 different dishes alone. Not to mention taking their orders and bringing them their drinks.

At that moment, Arcane made a decision and rolled up his sleeves.

"Then I’ll cook. Julian, I want you to write down every menu item they want and then help cut the ingredients!" His voice was firm as he ordered Julian to help him immediately.

The green haired young man nodded and asked Grandma for a notebook.

He immediately approached the tables where the soldiers were sitting and wrote down every order they wanted. Even though it was just writing, it felt so heavy and tiring because he had to listen carefully to their orders so that there would be no mistakes.

"I have 17 different menus! But some of them did order the same menu!" he exclaimed as he ran to the kitchen.

"Then wash your hands and help me chop the vegetables. I’ve already taught you how to do it, so don’t mess up," said Arcane, who began to put an apron around his waist.

Grandma, who witnessed this, was touched that they wanted to help her. Her gaze was fixed on Julian, her eyes seeming to see right through him.

She took several bottles of drinks ordered by the soldiers and served them first. One by one, Arcane cooked the dishes using a large frying pan.

Julian cut the vegetables needed for Arcane to cook, while Grandma took care of the fish and meat because Julian didn’t know how to prepare them.

The three of them continued to work together to cook, until finally 17 dishes were cooked and delivered to the soldiers. They seemed satisfied with the food and even left a lot of tips on the table.

"Gosh, working in a restaurant is so tiring! I thought it would be easy to just cook and serve," muttered Julian, who immediately sat down on a chair because he was exhausted.

Both of his arms ached from continuously cutting vegetables and delivering cooked food to customers.

"Every job will feel exhausting because you’re not used to it yet. But once you get used to it, you’ll enjoy it," replied Arcane as he placed a can of cold soda next to Julian.

He immediately drank all of the soda because he was so thirsty. Luckily, they could still take a short break because no more customers had arrived.

"Thank you. You guys helped me serve some customers who came in. I really don’t know what I would have done if you weren’t here," said Grandma as she placed a bowl of boiled tofu on the table.

Looking into the bowl, Julian had never seen boiled tofu like this before. Arcane explained that the tofu had been crushed and mixed with eggs. Then it was steamed with several spices, which made it look like that.

"Try it. We didn’t have time for lunch, so I’m sure you’re hungry now."

Using a spoon, he scooped up some of the tofu and tried it. It was the first time Julian had tasted tofu that was so delicious and soft, mixed with the taste of eggs.

Without saying anything, he enjoyed his meal, which made Arcane smile as she watched him. The man then went to the kitchen to prepare the remaining ingredients in case any customers came later.

Grandma followed him to the kitchen and invited him to talk.

"It turns out your husband is an extraordinary person. From the moment I saw him, I realized you really liked him. I could see it from the way you looked into his eyes," said Grandma.

"What do you mean, Grandma?" asked Arcane with a chuckle.

The old woman explained that Julian did indeed seem like a spoiled child. But behind that, he seemed very reliable. He wasn’t a spoiled child who didn’t want to do anything or even try new things.

He just needed someone to guide him to become even better.

"He’s lucky to have met you. You seem like you can guide Julian, as seen when you told him to cut the vegetables and said that you had taught him."

"And I think you also feel lucky to have met him."

Grandma’s words made Arcane feel that what she said was true. Even if this marriage was just a contract, there were some things that had changed his life. And he did not regret this decision.

"Hello, we want to order!" said a couple who had just arrived.

"Huh? Of course! Please sit down. What would you like to order?" Julian immediately approached them and took their order.

He then went to the kitchen and told Arcane about it. Arcane returned to cooking with his large frying pan, even the fire on the stove was so big when he cooked.

His face looked very serious, stirring the food in the pan so as not to make a mistake.

It wasn’t the first time Julian had seen him cook. But this time he looked much more handsome and made his heart beat very fast.

That was when he began to realize something. Something he could no longer avoid.

"Mom... I think I’m falling in love."
