[BL] Mr. Romano Contracted Husband-Chapter 25: The Most Beloved Woman In His Life
Julian was startled when he found himself standing right in front of a gate leading to a cemetery. He hadn’t expected Arcane to go that far just to visit a grave?
But what puzzled him was whose grave he was visiting?
He even had to go through two stations in an hour by train to get there?
"Or maybe he was just passing by this grave to meet that woman?" he muttered, growing more curious, then quietly followed from behind.
When they arrived in the middle of the cemetery, it turned out that Arcane was indeed approaching a grave that looked a bit dirty. There, the man took a cloth out of his bag and cleaned the tombstone.
He pulled out the messy weeds, threw away the dried flowers, and placed fresh flowers.
"Happy birthday, mother," he said.
At that moment, Julian’s heart was immediately touched, realizing that the man had gone to visit his mother’s grave. He even took out a small box of sweets and placed it on the grave.
This made him feel guilty for thinking that Arcane really intended to meet someone else. But it turned out that he had come to buy flowers on his late mother’s birthday.
Now it’s clear why Arcane said that at that time he just wanted to go alone. It turns out he really wanted to meet someone very special in his life, his mother.
Arcane, who had been staring at his mother’s grave, suddenly looked up at the man standing not far from him and realized it was Julian.
He was surprised, but not surprised because he knew that his contract husband was a careless and curious person.
"So you really followed me here? You’re such a naughty boy. Come here."
Hearing himself being called to come closer, Julian bowed his head and walked towards her. He stood near Arcane, looking at the grave in front of him with a photo on it.
A photo of a beautiful woman with red hair and yellow eyes. Unlike Arcane’s green eyes, even though their hair was the same color.
"Is she your mother? She’s very beautiful. I’m sure she must have loved you very much."
Arcane was silent when he heard Julian’s words and just nodded his head.
"She raised me alone when my grandparents kicked her out of the house because she defended me. At that time, she was only 18 years old and she chose not to abandon me but to raise me," he replied, explaining.
From the way he said all that, Julian could sense the emptiness in the man’s words. The same was true of his gaze, which had become so vacant as he looked at the photo of his mother.
He was sure that Arcane must miss her terribly, but there was nothing he could do. She had left Arcane’s life almost 10 years ago and would never return.
Not knowing what to do to comfort him or make him feel better, Julian could only reach out and hold Arcane’s hand.
He turned his head and saw Julian holding his hand. The young man turned his reddened face away, feeling embarrassed. But he didn’t want to let go of that hand.
"Don’t think I’m trying to do anything. I just want to make you feel better, that’s all! Maybe I’m not the person you want by your side. But at least let me be here for you while I can!" said Julian, slowly glancing at her.
The grip of his hand made Arcane’s heart feel warmer. Because every time he came to the moon to see his mother, he felt cold and also a painful slap that he would never be able to see her smile again. Especially hearing her soft voice calling his name.
However, this visit felt very different because of Julian’s presence. Even though the man had only followed him by chance and had no intention of being there with him.
It just changed the cold and empty feeling that Arcane always felt. It was much warmer, and he also felt that someone special was by his side.
Not his close friends, but someone much more special than that.
"Your mother is very beautiful, you look like her," Julian commented, making Arcane chuckle.
"So you think I got my mother’s beautiful genes that make me handsome?" he replied teasingly, which now made Julian’s ears red.
"Stop it! I didn’t say that, you’re so annoying!"
Since they happened to be in that city, Arcane invited Julian to go to a place where he used to live.
"I was raised in this city by my mother. And do you remember me saying that I used to live with an old woman? We’re going to go see her," he said.
"Really? Is she still alive?"
Arcane reflexively flicked Julian’s forehead after hearing that question. "Hey, that’s a rude question. Of course she’s still alive!"
"I was just asking! What’s wrong with me asking that?!" he replied angrily, rubbing his sore forehead.
It didn’t take long for them to walk from the cemetery area; they arrived at a small eatery on the outskirts of the city, which looked like a simple restaurant but was very small and old.
As soon as they entered the place, they saw an old woman with white hair cutting vegetables.
Noticing their arrival, the old woman turned around and was surprised to see who had come.
"Arcane? Ohh Arcane!" she said, her voice a little unclear due to her age of almost 80 years.
"Hello Grandma, long time no see," said Arcane, who immediately hugged the old woman.
Julian noticed how close the two of them seemed to be.
How could they not? Arcane had said that he had lived with the old woman and her mother from the age of 6 to 18. That meant they had lived together for 12 years, and Arcane would occasionally visit the old woman’s house to see her.
After they hugged each other and expressed their longing for each other, the old woman, whom Arcane called Grandma, immediately turned to Julian and seemed to ask Arcane, "Who is this young man?" 𝐟𝚛𝕖𝚎𝕨𝗲𝐛𝚗𝐨𝐯𝐞𝕝.𝐜𝗼𝗺
Arcane slowly pulled away from her and walked toward Julian, taking his hand. He lifted Julian’s hand, which was in his grip, showing the ring they both wore.
With a smile full of pride and sincerity, he answered Grandma’s question.
"He is my husband."
