Chapter 120: A Father’s Concerns

On the balcony of the guesthouse room where Arcane and the other three teachers were staying, he called Julian to find out how he was doing. Even though it was still daytime, he couldn’t stop thinking about Luna crying when he left.

When the phone was answered, it turned out that Luna was taking a nap.

"She’s exhausted from crying all the time. She thinks you’re not coming back to see her," said Julian as he gently stroked their adopted daughter’s head.

Arcane became very worried when he heard this. "When she wakes up, you should call me. I’ll talk to her myself and tell her that I’ll definitely be coming back." 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ𝑤𝑒𝑏𝑛𝘰𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝒸𝑜𝘮

Julian then asked about the place, and Arcane replied that it was very beautiful. From his balcony, he could see a large garden with flowers and beautiful trees. There was also a small lake that attracted people’s attention because it was covered with lotus flowers.

From above, he could also see several students taking pictures with their friends near the lake.

"This place is really nice. Especially for taking pictures and spending time with family. It’s also cool and so peaceful. It’s quite far from the busy streets outside," he explained.

"I’m jealous when I hear that! It must be really fun there. Maybe next time we can go to a place like that with Luna. She would definitely be very happy!"

Of course Arcane agreed with that, especially imagining their little girl running around in the spacious and beautiful garden. She would definitely be very happy with her surroundings.

"Then what about your room? Is it comfortable to live in?" Julian asked again over the phone.

That question was enough to make Arcane pause for a moment, then he turned to the glass balcony door that led directly into the room. Right next to the door was the bed where he and Kyle were currently staying. It was clear that the man was lying there, resting after a long journey.

When he didn’t answer, Julian called his name several times, breaking Arcane’s reverie.

"Why did you suddenly become so quiet? Did something happen?" he asked again, this time with concern.

"Nothing. I was just watching some students taking pictures near the lake, worried that they might fall. And about my room, it’s quite comfortable. There are two double beds for four people in each room," Arcane replied, lying a little.

And of course, he didn’t mention that he was sharing a bed with Kyle. He was sure Julian wouldn’t be happy to hear that, and he didn’t want to make his husband feel that way.

Fortunately, Julian didn’t ask any further questions about it and instead changed the topic of conversation to something else. Arcane responded to everything he said while enjoying the fresh air in that place. Unbeknownst to him, the man who was currently in his bed was hoping that he would come in and rest with him soon.

Not long after, an alarm sounded from the microphone that had been deliberately set up for the school trip. The alarm was to warn everyone, both students and teachers, to gather.

"Then I have to go. It seems the committee has made other plans for today’s schedule. I’ll call you again later, and make sure Luna isn’t crying anymore."

Before hanging up, Arcane whispered something.

"I love you, Julian."

The phone finally hung up, leaving a question mark in Julian’s mind. It was unusual for Arcane to say that, but he also felt happy with the words he heard at that moment.

He then turned to Luna, who was still fast asleep on the bed, gently stroking her head and kissing her forehead.

"Sleep well, little angel. Papa has to tidy up the house and prepare dinner afterward. Don’t worry, Daddy will be back soon and we’ll be together again like usual," he whispered.

He then left the room to tidy up Luna’s toys and the others before she woke up from her sleep.

For some reason, he felt so worried about that day, as if something might happen, but Julian didn’t know what it was. He even checked every corner of the room, their gas stove, and even the schedule on his cell phone. But there was nothing he had forgotten or overlooked.

Thinking that it was just his worrying about his husband, he put those thoughts and feelings aside for a while and focused on his current work.

On the other hand, during dinner time at the inn, the teachers watched over their students. They checked to see if they had received their meals. After making sure everyone had gotten their share, the teachers sat down to eat their own dinner.

Arcane sighed heavily while eating dinner. Usually, he always had dinner with his small family, but this time he was not with them.

The teachers began chatting, some talking about the beautiful tourist spots they had seen, while others discussed their next plans and schedule for the following morning.

"Tomorrow morning we will climb a hill not far from the inn. At the top of the hill there is a very beautiful view, and it is commonly used as a location for people to make memories such as taking photos. The students will definitely love it," said the committee chairperson who discussed this with the teachers.

"Climbing a hill? I hope it’s not too high and easy to climb because I don’t think I’ll have the strength to walk that far," Kyle muttered softly but loud enough for Arcane, who was sitting next to him, to hear.

"Don’t worry, hills aren’t usually as steep as mountains when you climb them. So it definitely won’t be that hard to do," said Arcane, because when he was in college, he had climbed hills and mountains with his close friends Marshall and Hans. Ryan was with them too, but that was before he showed his true colors.

Hearing that, he felt better and relieved because he believed everything Arcane said. Kyle felt that he was the only man he could trust at the moment, because he was sure that only Arcane understood him best.

"Thank you. I feel much better now that you’ve said that, and I hope I can climb that hill! Do you want to do it together?" he asked, inviting Arcane to climb together.

However, Arcane just laughed softly and gave him a faint smile.

"Of course, we’ll climb together."
