[BL] CRAVING HIM: Addicted to His Voice-Chapter 370: A Full House, A Full Heart
~Zayn’s POV~
Evric waited until my father had turned and gone back inside the house before pivoting and walking back toward the car.
When he returned and climbed back in beside me, he gave the driver a nod. The car pulled away from the estate, and as the gates closed behind us, I felt a sense of closure I hadn’t expected.
"We’re going to my family’s house this weekend," Evric said, stretching his arm across the back of the seat to pull me closer. "My mother personally requested that you come. She’s been asking about you."
I rested my head against his shoulder, comforted by the steady rhythm of his heart. "If she wants me there, then I’ll be there. Okay, Daddy," I teased softly, enjoying the way his arm tightened around me in response.
The driver hit a slight bump in the road as we accelerated, and I suddenly winced, a sharp reminder of our video call still throbbed in my lower half.
Evric’s brow furrowed in immediate concern. "What’s wrong? Are you hurt?"
I leaned into his ear, whispering so the driver wouldn’t hear. "It’s just... the result of last night. Your instructions were a little intense."
A dark, knowing smirk spread across Evric’s face. He leaned in closer, his voice a low vibration against my skin. "Don’t worry. I’ll check on it for you later. I have a much better way to take that pain away... with the real thing."
I felt a flush creep up my neck. "I want that," I murmured. "I don’t mind at all."
Evric chuckled, though he didn’t pull away. "Good. But just so you know, don’t expect a quiet night. Your friends are going to be at the house tonight."
I drew back, startled. "How did they find out I was coming back today? Did you say something?"
"Nantam wouldn’t stop pestering Evans," Evric said with a laugh. "He kept saying they couldn’t reach you and that everyone missed you. Dean’s been worried sick. And whenever they did get through, you just told them you were too busy to talk. So, I went ahead and told Evans you’d be back today. Get ready, a full house is waiting for you."
I sighed, leaning back against him. "Okay, baby... but you could’ve told them to come tomorrow. I was really hoping for a quiet night to just relax with you."
"You’ll have plenty of time to relax after the wedding," Evric promised, his hand sliding down to rest on my thigh. "Once we’re officially married, I won’t let anyone, or anything, stress you out."
"Really," he said, his eyes darkening with a possessive, teasing heat. "For a long time, the only things I’ll let you do are eat... and fuck."
I couldn’t help but tease him back. "Actually, baby, I was thinking... maybe after the wedding, I’ll go celibate for a while. You know, for a change of pace."
Evric’s jaw dropped for a split second before he caught on that I was joking. "You won’t even want to," he shot back, lunging forward to tickle my sides. "Once we’re married, I’ll make sure I devour you every chance I get."
"Stop! Baby, stop!" I giggled, squirming in his grip as the car filled with the sound of our laughter.
He finally stopped, pinning my wrists gently. "Are you ever going to say no to me, Zayn?" 𝐟𝕣𝗲𝕖𝕨𝗲𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝗲𝚕.𝗰𝚘𝐦
"Never," I whispered, my heart full.
He leaned in and kissed me deeply, his forehead resting against mine when he pulled back. "I really can’t wait for the night we officially become husbands."
"Me too," I breathed. He pulled me closer, tucking my head under his chin and kissing my hair as we watched the familiar scenery of our home city roll past the windows.
After the long drive, the car finally pulled into our driveway. We were just about to step out when Evric’s phone rang. He glanced at the screen—it was Karl.
"I have to take this," he said, his expression shifting into work mode. After a brief, intense conversation, he hung up and turned to me with a regretful look. "Babe, I’m so sorry. Something urgent came up at the office that needs my attention right now. I have to go back, but I’ll be back as early as I can tonight."
I immediately pouted, looking at him with the most disappointed expression I could muster. "You’re leaving already? We just got here."
"I know, I know," he said, leaning over to catch my lips in a quick, firm kiss. "I promise I’ll make it up to you tonight. I’ll be back before you even miss me."
"Okay, Daddy," I sighed, finally giving in.
I stepped out of the car and stood on the pavement for a moment, watching as the taillights of the car faded into the distance. Taking a deep, grounding breath, I turned toward the front door.
Once inside, my first priority was my mother. I had kept her updated throughout my stay with my father, and I wanted her to know I was safely home. We talked for a while, and eventually, the conversation turned toward the past.
"Do you think you’ll ever forgive him, Mom?" I asked softly.
She let out a heavy sigh over the line. "I don’t hold anything against him anymore, Zayn. But for everything else... I’ll be at your place three days before the wedding. I can’t say more until then."
"I understand," I said. After we hung up, I quickly called my father to let him know I was home, repeating my lecture about his medication and meals one last time.
The exhaustion of the trip finally caught up with me. I fell into a deep sleep for a few hours, only waking when a loud, insistent rhythmic pounding echoed from the front door. I checked the time, late evening.
I stood up and walked to the door. Turning the knob, I opened it, and immediately Dean burst in, shouting, "Finally! We get to meet the groom!" His girlfriend clung to his arm as he stumbled inside. Nantam followed close behind, smirking at Dean’s usual antics. A few minutes later, Nicki and Jaxon joined the group, and the house was instantly alive with the warmth, laughter, and noise of the people I loved.
In the middle of the chaos, I managed to pull Nantam aside. "Nantam, is everything okay between you and Evans?" I whispered, glancing toward the couples around us. "You came alone tonight... even at The JOL night, you were by yourself. What’s going on? Where’s your partner?"
Nantam offered a weary smile. "Evans is just a very busy person, Zayn. That’s all."
I frowned, searching his face. "Is everything really okay between you two?"
"You don’t have to worry," Nantam said gently. "The truth is, the day you opened The JOL, Evans and I had a serious argument, but it’s all fine now. Everything’s settled. He’s just always busy, which I understand, he keeps me updated on all his plans and what he’s doing. So really, there’s nothing to worry about. Besides, he’ll be here soon."
"Take it easy with him, okay?" I cautioned.
"I am," he said. "Trust me."
Just then, the doorbell rang again. I hurried to open it, and there stood Evans. I greeted him politely as he stepped inside, making a beeline for Nantam and pressing a quick kiss to his cheek. Watching them, I glanced at my watch, Evric should have been here by now.
"If it’s Evric you’re waiting for," Evans said, noticing my anxious glance, "he’s not coming back tonight. Something urgent came up."
My heart sank...
