Chapter 248: Chapter 248: Finally Seen Together in Public

~Zayn’s POV~

We never crossed the line of penetration, it wasn’t about that. It was deeper than sex, the truest kind of intimacy, built entirely on trust, consent, and love.

Afterward, exhausted and utterly content, Evric ordered breakfast. As we were finally settling in to eat, sipping our coffee and sharing pastries, Evric picked up his phone.

He froze, his jaw dropping slightly. "Baby... you need to see this."

He turned the screen to show me his social media post from the night before. The image of our hands, the new diamond bracelet glittering under the lights, and the picture of me in the new car had gone completely viral.

"I was just about to show you the same thing," I laughed, scrolling my phone. The comments on Evric’s post were insane, people were sharing it everywhere. But the first one I noticed, right at the top, was from his father. Seeing it made me smile.

I was still smiling when a new message notification popped up on my screen. The sender’s name was hidden as "Anonymous."

Curious, I opened it.

Want to play a game?

What if everyone wakes up to a new headline tomorrow?

"Evric buys his boyfriend a car after getting caught cheating with his ex."

You know I’ve got the clip. I can make it go viral in a matter of seconds.

My heart dropped. The message came with a short clip—blurry, but still clear enough to suggest something between Evric and his ex. A second later, Evric’s phone buzzed too. I didn’t need to guess; the way his expression shifted told me everything.

He turned toward me, eyes wide, voice tightening as he held up his phone. "You have to see this."

I shook my head gently. "You don’t have to show me."

His brows furrowed. "Did you get the same message?"

"Yes," I said quietly, lifting my phone so he could see the identical text and clip.

For a moment, neither of us spoke. The laughter from earlier disappeared, replaced by a heavy silence that hung between us cold, uneasy, and filled with disbelief.

The threat hung in the air, heavy and poisonous. But instead of withdrawing or flying into a jealous rage, we did something we had never done before: we faced it together.

Evric put his phone down, his jaw tight, the celebratory glow gone. He didn’t look angry; he looked defeated.

"This is my fault," he said, his voice low and miserable, running a hand through his hair. "If I hadn’t gotten drunk and passed out in the first place, this fake video wouldn’t exist. They wouldn’t have this ammunition."

I reached across the breakfast table, not to comfort him blindly, but to hold his hand firmly. "No, Evric. Stop blaming yourself for their crime. This is an empty threat. This isn’t about the video anymore; it’s about trying to break us apart forever with public pressure. We can’t let them win."

"But they have the..."

"That’s just noise, Evric," I interrupted gently. "They’re throwing mud to see what sticks. They saw your post, they saw the commitment, and they are panicking because their plan is failing. The fact that they went from blackmailing us to attacking our public image means we’re winning."

I squeezed his hand. "We talked about this last night. We agreed on truth and trust. I know you didn’t sleep with Nicki. I know you’re committed to me. We are one now. Don’t let this get into you or break you."

He looked at me, his eyes softening with gratitude. "You’re right," he breathed, the tension easing from his shoulders. "We are one. I won’t hide anything anymore. Every message, every thought, goes straight to you first."

This was it, the foundation we had desperately needed. Communication wasn’t just about sharing good news; it was about sharing the fear, the guilt, and the threats.

We talked for a while longer, about the message, about how we’d handle it if the video ever got leaked. No anger, no raised voices. Just a calm, honest conversation. The kind of peace I once thought we’d never have.

When we were done, we both showered and got dressed. Evric insisted on driving me home. He stayed a little longer, waiting until my new car was brought to my house. I watched him watch me as I checked it out, his expression caught somewhere between relief and quiet pride.

Afterward, he turned to me. "I should go. I’ve got a meeting this noon," he said, brushing his thumb along my cheek.

I nodded, stepping closer to hug him. "Thank you. For everything." He held me tightly, the kind of embrace that said more than words ever could.

"Babe," he said as he pulled back slightly, "if you get another message like that, don’t keep it to yourself. Tell me immediately, or forward it to me, okay?"

"I will," I promised. "Same goes for you."

He smiled softly. "Deal."

Then, with one last lingering kiss on my forehead, Evric left, and the silence he left behind felt heavy with both warmth and worry. But I wasn’t scared, because we are finally learning how to face things together.

Minutes later, Kai emerged from his room, rubbing his eyes and yawning dramatically. He paused when he saw my face.

"Okay, I see the glow," Kai said, grinning. "What’s the verdict? Are you two broken up or engaged?"

I punched him lightly on the shoulder. "Neither," I laughed. "We’re taking a chance. He’s showing me he can be the man I need, and I’m giving him the space to prove it. And yes, you can congratulate me."

"Congratulations, you idiot," Kai said warmly, hugging me.

The congratulatory calls and messages started immediately. Nantam called, full of excited questions about the car and the bracelet, and Dean sent a breathless voice message. When I finally arrived at my restaurant later that day, my staff were all buzzing. Doreen cornered me immediately, she leaned on the counter with that sly smile and said, "Look at you, Mr. Celebrity’s boyfriend."

I laughed it off, pretending not to blush, and went about my day like everything was normal.

The entire day was a happy blur of work and well-wishes. I focused on my routine, letting the joy of Evric’s commitment settle into my bones, and went home feeling more optimistic than I had in months.

The next morning, Evric called me as I was finishing my coffee.

"Baby, what’s your plan for today?" he asked.

"I have to restock a few specialty items for the restaurant, things that are out of stock at the usual supplier. It’s an annoying run across town," I explained.

"Oh, perfect," Evric said smoothly. "Can I tag along?"

"Sure," I said with a laugh. "Actually, that’ll help a lot, you’ll be the one paying for everything."

He chuckled. "I’m happy to do it. Anything for my baby. I’ll be there to pick you up soon."

"Okay, babe."

We talked for a bit longer before hanging up, and a few hours later, Evric arrived to pick me up.

We drove to the big industrial supply market. It was our first real outing in public since our relationship went official and the post went viral. Just days ago, the whole world had found out about us—and now, for the first time, we were stepping out together where everyone could see.

As soon as we stepped out of the car, I felt the shift. We hadn’t taken three steps when I heard it.

"Oh my God, that’s Evric!"

They look so good together!"

"That’s his boyfriend! Did you see the viral post?"
