Bizarre Realm-Chapter 442 - 51: Chaneum! The Illusion of Candlefort

Shawn’s body was instantly engulfed in a cold aura upon hearing the name "Chaneum," the Slaughter Divine Son who had once fought his way to the throne of Baal. (PS: Official protagonist of Bod’s Gate 1-2.)

He eventually ascended the throne of slaughter but refused Divine Investiture, choosing instead to live out his days alone as a mortal.

Among those present, it seemed that only Shawn and the Ugly Monkey saw the indescribable gray shadow, but being on the Wandering Path, his inspiration was not high enough to clearly see the apparition forming in the corridor, or hear the whispers of the gray shadow.

The Ugly Monkey’s hand touched his sword hilt, sending a psychic message: "It should be Gleian, foster father of the Slaughter Divine Son."

Shawn nodded slightly, his Spell Order ready to activate at any moment.

In history, the ending for the Slaughter Divine Son was actually not favorable, as all of Chaneum’s allies eventually perished. The rest left one after another until he was left alone.

Montaro and Sal were killed by harpists, Sain was killed by giant spiders, and Shafana turned into a werewolf before being killed by the protagonist. Calid and Dana Black were captured and killed by Airenicas, Fado was killed by Jasira, Azantys was mistaken for a monster and killed by the protagonist, Tias was killed by Airenicas, Youxumo betrayed and was killed by the protagonist, and Sern perished in battle with his corrupted son. Kaidong died fighting against a Giant, Korgan was killed by Dark Elves in the Dark Realm, and in the final assault on the five saints, Shalovolk was surrounded and killed by several Giant Dragons under Abazig’s command. Jasira was killed by Abazig, the Blue Dragon.

The most heartbreaking event was — his sister Imoen was assassinated by Xian Dai when Chaneum was away.

After defeating the five saints, Kaelanwo asked Chaneum if he wanted to become one of the gods, to which Chaneum replied: "If I become a god, can I bring back Imoen and Jasira to life? At least, can I bring back Gleian (foster father)?"

The answer was no. (Manipulated deception)

The laws of life and death cannot be easily shaken.

Chaneum then said: "What’s the point of becoming a god, then!"

He chose to live out his days alone as a mortal.

Despite the efforts to protect him, all his friends died one by one, even after such sacrifices, Chaneum never completed the task of eliminating all other Baal progeny. In 1479 DR, while out on an excursion, he was attacked by another Baal progeny, Viekang, and ultimately died at the age of 136.

Thus, the era of the Slaughter Divine Son came to an end.

The Ugly Monkey knew more because the master he served, His Death Majesty, possessed the bloodline of the Slaughter Divine Son. However, the inherited "Child of Slaughter" trait of the descendants could not compare to the original Slaughter Divine Son. The Slaughter Divine Son was the second generation offspring of Divine Spirit, inherently possessing divine power, while the later "Children of Slaughter" mostly resulted from the bloodline of those Slaughter Divine Sons expanding, which due to some coincidences led to the phenomenon of bloodline reverting, thereby awakening the Slaughter Domain’s powers.

They must collect divinity themselves to awaken more abilities.

Both Shawn and the Ugly Monkey had the traits of a Child of Slaughter, which seemingly led the indescribable gray-robed apparition to mistakenly identify Shawn as "Chaneum."

The gray-robed apparition gazed at Shawn, whispering: "At last, you have come..."

Everything around gradually returned to normal.

The strange scene seen moments ago seemed like an illusion, but Shawn knew it was not. One of Candlefort’s creators, Gleian, seemingly placed his final hope on Chaneum, believing that the Slaughter Divine Son’s power could end all this.

In theory, this was feasible because the Slaughter Divine Son possessed the ability to directly kill Ancient Evil objects or even an Evil God.

Of course, the prerequisite is that you must first become the God of Slaughter.

The reason the Old Ones could not be completely eradicated was because they possessed an immortal trait; even if they were killed, they would automatically resurrect. If one could break the immortal trait of the Old, it would become possible to completely kill them.

The group quickly passed through the corridor as a towering archway emerged. They crossed a courtyard and entered an open grassy area that presented three paths: one leading to the central castle fortress, another to the side reading room, and the last linking to the underground storage room.

Each area of Candlefort is occupied by specific monsters, only powerful Evil Objects can dominate here.

Shawn planned to enter the storage room first to check it out. Candlefort has many storage spaces, each holding different items, and larger areas typically contain leader-level monsters.
