Bizarre Realm-Chapter 157 - 11: Abyss City! A City Without Children_2
Aemon revealed a slight smile and said, "A wise choice."
"Sometimes, to survive until the end, one must learn to temporarily avoid the limelight and accumulate more strength."
Shawn turned to look at Aemon before him. After removing the confusion, Aemon’s reflection was that of a mysterious and unfathomable Abyssal lord. He asked slowly, "So, did I pass your test?"
Aemon shook his head and said, "You did not pass my test; you completed your own trial."
After speaking, he studied Shawn carefully, his expression seemingly a bit surprised and said, "Natural essence and divinity?"
"Where did you get a trace of divine power?"
Aemon seemed to look straight into Shawn’s soul, seeing the trace of divine power gifted to him by the Lake Fairy.
Shawn glanced in the direction of the lake, calmly saying, "A touch of fortune’s favor."
Aemon pondered, his fingers slightly moving as if using a kind of prophetic ability, then he clapped his hands and laughed, "Indeed, someone outside of destiny, Lady Hecate values you greatly!"
Shawn is a foreigner, whose soul does not belong to this cosmos; his destiny track cannot be predicted and can only be manipulated or interfered with.
People with such abilities typically easily disrupt the destiny paths of others.
Because he himself is a variable.
Aemon said indifferently, "A touch of divinity is not of much use."
"You at least need weak divinity to fully enhance your talent ability." (All Attributes Full Immunity +1, weak divinity is equivalent to having the entire essence of divinity of a Demigod.)
"Currently, because of this trace of divine power, others will instead covet it with greed."
At this point, Aemon sternly said, "Do not expose your divine essence in Abyss City."
"Divine creatures will incite everyone’s greed."
"Every gift from destiny is secretly marked with a price!... The greater the fortune brought by prophetic skill, the greater the causal risk behind it!..."
Aemon warned Shawn to be cautious in using the ability of prophetic skill.
Indeed, in his view, Shawn receiving divine gifts might not be a good thing, because the greatest role of a trace of divinity is to convert the template to a divine creature, slightly enhancing immunity resistance and greatly increasing lifespan, with almost no greater use than that.
Divine creatures can delay aging and live over five hundred years.
Shawn is still very young, currently not lacking in lifespan, so this trace of divinity brings more trouble instead.
Immortality is not something he should pursue right now.
Shawn silently nodded and said, "I understand."
Aemon raised a finger and opened a teleportation gate, showcasing a towering high tower in the reflection, the scenery of Abyss City.
——Advanced Teleportation Skill.
As a feeling of the world spinning around overwhelmed him, Shawn regained his sight and already found himself on top of a tower in Abyss City. This city was protected by a large maze lock and was entirely concealed by the maze lock’s power during the night.
Aemon casually tossed over an Abyssal Badge, emotionless as he said, "From now on, you are a mage in Abyss City."
"The sixth floor of this tower is your residence."
Shawn reached out to catch the badge, which bore a Secret Technique Seal, granting him access to this tower and opening the door.
Aemon led him down the tower and said, "The sixth floor has a clay golem; that is your servant, but you must energize it yourself to activate it."
"The previous mage has already died."
"There might be some of his relics inside; you’ll have to manage them yourself later."
Aemon casually walked down the stairs. This appeared to be the Maze Lock Area of Abyss City, where outside guards were very strict, with patrolling demon guards. This area seemed restricted to ordinary Abyss City residents, as Shawn hardly saw any pedestrians here.
Shawn silently nodded, planning to go back later and see what was inside the tower.
His bloody trial had just begun, and he could rest for at most one day in Abyss City. There were still many things he needed to do, and he had to find powerful explosives as well.
This place should have alchemists too.
The demon trial doesn’t care about methods, as long as you can win and survive at the end.
——Survive by any means necessary, endure until the bloody trial ends.
At this moment, a fully armed team of demon guards passed by the outside of the tower, with the leading demon commander seeing Aemon, humbly and respectfully lowering his head in greeting. It was an intimidating head like a toad, extending a long, snake-like tongue, a powerful scorpion demon.
Aemon didn’t even glance at it, leading Shawn out of the tower.
These demon guards had progressed through the monster path, being transcendent beings, some possibly the souls from Otherworld, i.e., originally inhabitants of the lower plane Purgatory, with very powerful strengths. After their progression, they underwent transformation ceremonies, some becoming half-demon forms, and some completely demonized. To them, human bodies were the least adapted, as they were too weak.
Shawn curiously observed these transcendent beings elevated through unconventional paths.
Upon exiting the tower, Aemon suddenly stopped and, as if casually, asked, "If given a squad of demon guards."
"How long would it take you to clean up the outer areas of the swamp?"
Hmm?
Upon hearing the question, Shawn couldn’t help but ponder, considering the strength of those demon guards and estimating how many enemies there were in the outer parts of the swamp before musing for a moment and responding, "I don’t know."
He wasn’t sure how many corrupt clans dwelled in the swamp, nor whether those Lizardman tribes had Ancient Race members, so it was indeed difficult to make an accurate assessment.
