Chapter 155: Chapter 10: Plane Merchant! All About Backstabbing! (Part 3)

It seemed to be observing Shawn, with a hint of malice in its gaze, but restrained itself because it couldn’t discern Shawn’s true power.

It slightly bowed and said, "I just noticed there seems to be a new owner here."

"I came to pay my respects."

Screamer - Bader spoke very politely, in a gentlemanly manner, but its face was more ferocious than a demon, as if it could devour someone at any moment.

As long as one has strength, even bizarre creatures become quite ’polite.’

Shawn remained expressionless, his tone still cold, "Then you can leave now."

He noticed that an odd eyeball suddenly grew out of the other’s palm, and it discreetly glanced at Shawn, seemingly still gaining nothing, before reluctantly retracting beneath the skin and flesh.

However, after this action, the Night Witch in front of him became more cautious and respectful.

Screamer - Bader did not leave but continued to introduce itself, "As you can see, besides being a herding Night Witch, I am also a wandering dimensional merchant."

"I travel through the Material Plane, the Shadow Plane, and the Spirit Realm."

"If you need anything, you can find me."

Dimensional merchant?

These words piqued Shawn’s interest a bit; he calmly asked, "What goods do you have?"

Seeing Shawn’s interest, the Night Witch raised its hand gently, and a strange parchment floated over, seemingly inscribed with many items in secret technique text.

It spoke respectfully, "The goods are not suitable to be brought out; they are too dangerous."

"This is the product list of our Night Witch Trading Company."

Shawn did not reach out to take it; instead, three Invisible Hands appeared behind him, catching the floating parchment mid-air. 𝘧𝓇𝑒𝑒𝑤ℯ𝑏𝓃𝘰𝑣ℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮

It’s human skin.

Shawn’s pupils shrank slightly; he quickly glanced at the secret technique text on it while keeping an eye on the Night Witch not far away.

The Night Witch seemed to have sensed the presence of the Invisible Hands, instinctively stepping back half a step.

Everyone was very cautious.

The list of items was quite shocking because the majority wasn’t Extraordinary Relics or Curios equipment, but rather various blood sacrifice materials, the most important of which were humans. Many creatures here relied on blood sacrifice ceremonies to obtain a thread of favor from the Ancient Race, ultimately ascending their path as a Clan of the Ancient Race.

Most on the list were completely degenerate human subtypes, some of which could be traded in large quantities like cattle and sheep.

"It’s other-plane Evil Demon merchants!" Shawn squinted slightly.

There were indeed some good things among the goods on this list, even some Extraordinary Relics that could only be found in the Spirit Realm. Staring at the other party, Shawn expressionlessly asked, "How do we trade?"

The Night Witch replied, "Fresh souls, Soul Stones, Curios, Extraordinary Relics, and the like are acceptable."

"We have professional appraisers."

"You just need to tell me what you need, and I will bring it next time I return to the Material Plane."

It seemed indeed possible that this was a dimensional merchant.

But what kind of merchant travels without goods? Are they a black trader? Rob on the spot? A double-cross?

The goods on the human skin paper were priced using souls and Soul Stones as currency units. Although there were dozens of items on the list, the prices were very high. While Shawn had some Curios and Relics on hand, they might not suffice for an exchange.

The other party wasn’t here to do business, probably just to probe him.

Shawn did not believe the Night Witch was a legitimate dimensional merchant.

He pondered a bit and said, "I’m quite interested in the ’Dark Ritual Secret Scripture’ on your list."

Shawn needed to suppress the mental pollution; the items on the list, one more bizarre than the other, mostly came from Spirit Realm Relics, even including a Headless Knight’s head. Only one item seemed like a book that could provide more knowledge.

Upon hearing this, the Night Witch nodded slightly, respectfully saying, "Alright."

"I will return to the Material Plane the day after tomorrow and bring what you need."

After speaking, it nodded slightly in indication, then turned and walked into the darkness.

Ssss.

Under the pitch-black sky, a large swarm of Soul Worms surged forward, following the Night Witch. These were the same Soul Worms that had caused Shawn a bit of trouble before, but under its control, they were like obedient cattle and sheep.

Five minutes later.

After stepping out of the Eye Demon’s territory, the Night Witch stopped, its voice cold, "Is it human?"

The flesh on its chest began wriggling, and an empty human face emerged on the skin of its chest. This face pondered for a moment and slowly said, "No."

"It only disguises itself as human."

"I sensed the scent of knowledge, very mad, hard to deal with!"

Shawn tried his best to disguise himself as a bizarre creature, but in the Night Witch’s eyes, he seemed more like a monster trying to masquerade as a human.

After a brief silence, the Night Witch nodded gently.

It casually grabbed a sluggish Soul Worm and placed it into a mouth filled with sharp teeth to chew, blood and thick juice streaming out as it greedily devoured the last bite and slowly disappeared into the night.

That was its working meal.

Soul-herding Night Witches served some very powerful Evil Objects, and being a dimensional merchant was just one of its identities; it had many identities, such as a robber.

In the darkness, the vacant face on the Night Witch’s chest asked, "Will we return?"

The Night Witch calmly replied, "Of course we will return."

"But that product list was fake; we don’t have any of those goods."

The vacant face paused and then said with a playful tone, "Then you’d better find a good helper."

"The other party might be a Wizard."

The Night Witch nodded slightly, grinning maliciously, "I know. Precisely because he is a Wizard, I must find a way to devour him."

Transcendents of the Wizard Path usually have considerable wealth.

Typically, a Wizard’s net worth is several times that of other Transcendents. If one can kill a Wizard, they can at least find several Extraordinary Wondrous Objects. If they can capture the opponent’s soul, many entities in the Spirit Realm would be interested in a Wizard’s soul.

This is a high-risk, high-reward venture.

Eye Demon Nest.

Shawn watched vigilantly as the Night Witch left, even summoning an Invisible Servant to quietly follow, ensuring the target departed before he breathed a little easier.

"This place can’t be stayed in any longer!"

Shawn didn’t trust the words of an Evil Demon. Night Witches and crones were the most cunning of evil spirits; they hadn’t made a move simply because they weren’t sure they could win against Shawn.

Of course, Shawn hadn’t acted either because he wasn’t sure he could take the other down.

Not acting might lead to mutual retreat, but action meant a fight to the death. These interplane creatures were extremely troublesome.

"Gone?"

Seeing the Invisible Servant return, Shawn decided to leave before dawn.

His trial was almost over, and soon he could head back to Abyss City to rest for a bit.

Shawn frowned, "Its malice is evident."

"It’s sure to return."

"Can explosives be obtained in Abyss City?"

With this in mind, Shawn looked at the Invisible Servant before him, his gaze becoming much more kindly.
