Bizarre Realm-Chapter 148 - 8: Mythical Spirits! Lake Fairy
"Where do you come from?"
Shawn pondered for a moment and answered, "The Dorne Kingdom."
"Who are you?"
It was his first time encountering such a bizarre existence. Before, Shawn had never seen a person whose reflection appeared normal under Spiritual Vision; usually, what he saw was the uncontrolled side of Transcendents.
Not far away, the ghastly old witch took a step back, half of her foot entering the lake. She stood on the water surface and murmured, "Dorne? The real world?"
"Have humans returned?"
As if recalling Shawn’s question, she explained somewhat flustered, "I am the essence of this lake, the embodiment of nature’s spirituality."
"Humans generally refer to lives like mine as ’Lake Fairy.’
Lake Fairy?!
Shawn looked at the ghastly and fierce old witch before him, then gazed at the reflection of a stunning maiden under Spiritual Vision, and seemed to believe it somewhat in his heart.
Twisted by the Bizarre Realm?
For her reflection to appear so normal under Spiritual Vision meant that her true form was indeed like this, and she certainly had the aura of natural spirituality glowing around her. The environment here probably had some relationship with her existence.
Is she a life from those legendary mythical races?
It appears that she belongs to the mythical races among spirit lives, and generally such beings possess a kind of Extraordinary Essence known as ’Divinity.’
The old witch stared at Shawn, her voice hoarse, saying, "You don’t need to be afraid."
"I won’t harm you."
"I am only twisted into this ugly form due to the pollution of this land."
The old witch put away her Magic Staff, indicating she meant no harm, and slowly said, "I have not seen normal humans for too long."
After speaking, she issued some kind of strange summon to the lake.
Soon, ripples spread across the tranquil surface, followed by the emergence of two wet, hair-covered heads resembling aquatic plants. They all had female outlines, yet their features were about the same as the old witch’s, and these two figures came to the shore, their expressions greatly shocked upon seeing Shawn.
"Human?!" exclaimed the more slender old witch on the right.
Under Spiritual Vision.
Shawn saw their reflections clearly: one was a mature woman with long water-blue hair, graceful in stature and charming in appearance, her reflected outline resembling a noblewoman under water; the second person’s reflection looked much younger, probably the youngest among the three, a seventeen or eighteen-year-old pretty girl with long light red hair, resembling a water spirit.
Certainly, to the naked eye in reality, they were all three ghastly ugly old witches, their hideous appearances very much akin to the old witch.
"These are my sisters."
The Lake Fairy who spoke first looked at Shawn, her expression sorrowful, saying, "We are the last embodiment of nature’s spirituality on this land."
"Once, this forest had our kin, the manifestation of the forest, nature-created tree spirits."
"But now they have all withered."
Upon hearing the Lake Fairy’s words, the more mature figure at the side also expressed a sorrowful look, saying, "After they withered, the ancient trees they inhabited were twisted into a witch’s forest cabin by the owl-evolved creatures."
"Later, it came alive and killed the High Priest of the owl creatures."
"If you go into the forest, make sure to avoid it—it is exceedingly dangerous!"
A well-intentioned warning.
But Shawn had already encountered that peculiar forest cabin, and had died inexplicably near it.
After triggering Death Retrospect, Shawn fled without another word.
It was the only eerie enemy he had met so far that caused his sudden demise without any apparent reaction.
——Lake Sisters: [Lake Fairy][Mythical Spirits]!
The powers of these three twisted old witches were very strong; they possessed the level of spirit beings, the gathering of natural spirituality, tantamount to being born Casters.
"Is this what the guided luck means?" Shawn pondered secretly.
He stared at the Lake Sisters before him, surveyed the surroundings, and slowly said, "Why hasn’t this place been polluted?"
The leading Lake Fairy softly replied, "This place has been polluted as well."
"It’s just that the pollution has been absorbed into our bodies, so our appearances have grown increasingly ugly and hideous." 𝒇𝒓𝙚𝒆𝔀𝓮𝓫𝒏𝓸𝙫𝓮𝓵.𝓬𝙤𝙢
Here lies the most resilient aspect of nature.
The plants nearby have undergone a bit of evolution, adapting to the harsh environment of the Bizarre Realm, acquiring more tenacious life force.
The elder sister standing by said, "If this lake were also polluted, we would wither like the tree spirits."
"We do this to save ourselves."
The youngest sister explained, "As long as the lake exists, we will have a continuous life force to counteract our own pollution, because nature will heal our injuries. But once this place is twisted into a swamp, our death will only be a matter of time."
Both sisters used ’wither’ while the youngest boldly stated ’death.’
Shawn hesitated and asked, "Can’t you leave here?"
The deepest part of this swamp is the resting place of the Olden Days. Even though they are from mythical races, they lack the ability to counter such powerful ancient beings, staying here inevitably leads to death. Also, the Lake Fairy should be a legendary creature, but it’s evident that the three sisters haven’t reached that level; their powers have significantly weakened.
The mythical races are highly endowed, with nature-created spirit charm immortal spirits typically being of legendary grade.
Using the description from the ancestral East, the three sisters should be Spirit Charm Immortal Spirits naturally born of this land, ruling over nearby rivers and lakes, standing as embodiments of nature, belonging to the spirit charm class bestowed by the will of heaven and earth, inherently possessing a trace of divine power.
