Chapter 786: Chapter 655: Wife, Won’t You Please Not Send Me Away? (Part 1)_2

The Great Emperor Haotian laughed and shook his head, "It’s probably difficult to catch them all in one net, but weakening their strength is still possible. If they slip up and reveal a bit of their tails, that’ll be even better."

Yi Luowa glanced at one, then the other, "What are you two talking about? You’re not planning to use this wedding as a cover for something, are you?"

"Use it how? This is a wedding I’ve been looking forward to for ages." Tong Airui chuckled and wrapped an arm around her shoulder. "Let’s head back. You don’t need to worry about anything, just focus on being a bride."

"Airui’s right. With Airui and me around, you don’t need to think about anything at all."

Yi Luowa pouted, following Tong Airui back to the room.

Tong Airui saw Raindrop and Ai Ni were both inside, returning the kids safely. Then, he turned and walked out the door.

"Fourth Brother." Mi Chenxuan peeked out from around the corner.

Tong Airui made a hush gesture and followed him to the operation command room in the lower deck. "How’s the setup going?"

"Relax, I guarantee there won’t be any problems." Mi Chenxuan pointed to Colin seated at the deputy commander’s chair and grinned, "I’ve got someone watching my back here."

Tong Airui shot him a sinister glance, "When are you gonna grow up and stop needing milk?"

Colin turned around, laughing, "Already off the bottle. Captain Mi’s arrangements are flawless—I don’t even need to intervene."

"Mi Chenxuan!" Tong Airui barked harshly.

"Here!" Mi Chenxuan immediately straightened and responded.

"Over four hundred lives on the ship are entrusted to you. If there’s any mistake, bring your head to me!"

"Captain, rest assured. I’ll definitely complete the task you’ve assigned me."

"Sir, you’re not allowed in the lower deck!" A voice came from the surveillance screen.

Tong Airui frowned and looked at the screen. The person being addressed had already turned away, leaving only their back. 𝐟𝚛𝕖𝚎𝕨𝗲𝐛𝚗𝐨𝐯𝐞𝕝.𝐜𝗼𝗺

Mi Chenxuan hurriedly sat in the commander’s chair, put on the headset, and asked, "Dong Jiu, what’s the situation with that person?"

"Haotian’s guest, here to find his friend. They’ve already left."

"Nobody is allowed into the lower deck!"

"Understood!"

Tong Airui curved his lips into a slight smirk, "I’ll go upstairs and entertain the guest."

Mi Chenxuan took off the headset and jokingly said, "Go handle your business. We’ll take care of this."

Tong Airui acknowledged with a hum, pulled open the door, and headed out.

Tong Airui went up one level and saw Yuan Hang, Yun Jin, Qing’er, Little Joe, and a few others standing near a room door. Smiling, he walked over.

"Boss, all the little ones are inside." Yuan Hang grinned, "Ziyan and his little brothers are playing with toys in there. They probably won’t come out for lunch."

"If they won’t eat, deliver the food inside for them. Make sure to keep them safe."

"Understood!"

From inside, Youyou shouted out, "Fourth Brother, I’m here—don’t bother. If anyone dares to make a move on our precious ones, I’ll make sure they never return!"

"There’s no one here!" Tong Airui sighed with a laugh and went straight up to the banquet hall on the second floor.

"Zhi Lan, once Luowa’s wedding is over, you can mark off one big worry," a laugh from Xiao Meng drifted from nearby. Tong Airui tilted his head to glance over and saw his mother-in-law chatting with some of her classmates. Smiling slightly, he headed toward Kang Shao.

The Queen of Haotian sighed helplessly, "If Luowa hadn’t had such a young child, this marriage would’ve been held long ago."

Yuan Sha joked, "Once Luowa’s wedding is over, it’ll be Denton’s turn next. You better get ready to be a grandmother."

"Ah... That’s actually my biggest concern! Whether or not I get to hold grandchildren doesn’t matter—as long as I can see him marry with my own eyes, I could die content."

Joel frowned slightly, "Zhi Lan, what an ominous thing to say on such a joyful day!"

The Queen of Haotian replied indifferently, "Everyone must face death eventually. If I can witness both children marrying and settling down, I’ll be completely satisfied."

Joel sighed, exchanged a few more words with the crowd, then turned and left the hall.

Before lunch, Mi Chenxuan came up from below and whispered something in Tong Airui’s ear.

Tong Airui narrowed his eyes slightly, "Don’t lower your guard."

"Understood."

Once the two finished speaking, the Great Emperor Haotian winked at his son-in-law, and the pair walked out of the hall side by side.

"What’s your take on this?" The Great Emperor Haotian lowered his voice.

Tong Airui furrowed his brow slightly, "Their sudden retreat might be because they were intimidated by our setup."

"That’s my thought too. But we can’t get lax. These people are desperate outlaws; we can’t let them pull a sneak attack."

"Dad, rest assured. Old Eight has been keeping a watch. If I discover their hiding spot after the wedding, regardless of whether they strike at us or not, I’m attacking. If the ML group dares to intervene, I’ll take them out too."

"Reports indicate ML hasn’t supported Sato Shoko at all."

"What I’m worried about are secret operations. The weapons they possess are far more sophisticated than any ordinary deserter could have."

"You suspect the ML group supplied these weapons to Sato Shoko?"

"If not the ML group, then someone else with formidable resources—otherwise, they wouldn’t have obtained such powerful weapons."

"Individual strength wouldn’t be enough... So that means the ML group is likely pulling strings behind the scenes!"

Tong Airui pressed his lips tightly together, "I can’t make a definitive judgment right now. We’ll just have to adapt as we go."

"No problem. My people are stationed in the upper deck, and yours are in the lower deck. As long as both of us are here, there won’t be any issues. The alarms are cleared. Shouldn’t Luowa come out to meet everyone now? She’s been holed up for too long—it’s rude not to greet the guests."

"Let her stay where she is. She’s too sharp. I’m worried she might sense something and it’ll affect her mood tomorrow."

The Great Emperor Haotian smiled approvingly, "Luowa is lucky to have you as her husband!"

Tong Airui chuckled, "She’s brought good fortune to me as well."

The Great Emperor Haotian laughed heartily, "Fortune is something you both bring to each other. By the way, are you really not spending the night together with Luowa tonight?"

"My grandmother insisted—it’s an old tradition in Z Country: before marriage, we’re not supposed to see each other. Just this once, I’ll hold out."

The Great Emperor Haotian chuckled softly, clearly doubting his son-in-law’s resolve. Sure enough, as the clock struck midnight, Tong Airui stepped out of the command room and went upstairs.

Yi Luowa, half-asleep and groggy, heard the door creak open. "Boar! Didn’t I tell you to stay with my second uncle? Why are you back again?"

The Fourth Master kept silent, treading lightly as he approached the bedroom.

Yi Luowa listened intently for a moment, then reached beneath her pillow. "Who is it? How do you have a key to my room?"

"..."

Yi Luowa grabbed her pistol and swiftly got out of bed. "Whoever you are, if you don’t speak up, I’ll shoot!"

"Still as vigilant as ever." Tong Airui chuckled, stepping inside.

Hearing his voice, Yi Luowa hurriedly pulled the blanket over her head. "Didn’t you say we’re not supposed to see each other the day before the wedding? Why are you here? Get out!"

Tong Airui laughed so hard his shoulders shook. Leaning on the bed, he tugged the blanket away from her head. "The clock has already struck midnight. It’s September 20th now."

Yi Luowa reached up to cover her eyes. "Are you sure it’s fine now?"

"It’s fine, no need to cover your face anymore." Tong Airui grinned as he pulled her hand away.

"You scared me so badly my heart’s pounding!" Yi Luowa pouted, tossing the gun onto the bed.

Tong Airui reached out his hand, smiling, "Let me feel how your heart’s pounding."

Yi Luowa grabbed his hand quickly, "Stop messing around! You’ve seen me now—go back to your own room and sleep."

"No way! I can’t fall asleep without you." Tong Airui exerted a little force, pulling her into his arms. "Darling, don’t push me away, alright?"
