Chapter 778: Chapter 649: A Great Battle is Imminent, Avoidance is the Best Strategy (Second Update)

Xin Ru smiled, "He’s like a stubborn rock, he’ll never come around. You two might as well stay here and chat with me."

"Take a rest. We’ll come back and keep you company later." Yi Luowa pulled Connie out the door.

Just as the two closed the door, Tong Yehua came upstairs from the ground floor. Connie glanced at Yi Luowa, and after greeting Tong Yehua briefly, they quickly headed downstairs.

Tong Yehua saw them leave, then raised a hand to knock on Xin Ru’s door.

Xin Ru opened the door. When she saw him, she moved to close it immediately, but Tong Yehua had already wedged his foot in.

Xin Ru furrowed her brows slightly, "Do you want to lose your leg or something?"

Tong Yehua pressed his lips together tightly and forced the door open, squeezing his way in.

Xin Ru chuckled lightly, "We made an agreement, remember? I’m only cooperating with you to act. Barging into my room like this is breaching our contract."

Tong Yehua glanced at her. "With someone like you, I’m already making compromises. There’s a group wedding in May—I’ve already signed up."

Xin Ru shot him a cold look, "Well, congratulations."

Tong Yehua curved his lips slightly into a smirk, "Not congratulations to me—congratulations to us. If I’m not willing to marry you, guess you’d stay single forever!"

Xin Ru scoffed, "How amusing! Where does your confidence come from? There are plenty of people who want to marry me, it’s just a matter of whether I’m willing to say yes."

Tong Yehua chuckled lightly, "Go ahead, find someone else and try!"

Xin Ru glared fiercely at him and reached for her phone. "I’ll call someone right now. You’re getting married in May, right? Then I’m getting married on April 30th!"

Tong Yehua saw her dial a number and immediately snatched the phone away. "Xin Ru, if you don’t want anyone dead, then go ahead and make that call!"

"There are plenty of people in cemeteries, none of them are killed by you!" Xin Ru reached out to grab the phone back.

Tong Yehua dodged her and strode quickly toward the floor-to-ceiling window with the phone in hand.

Xin Ru froze, "Tong Yehua, what are you—what are you doing?"

Tong Yehua opened the window. A rush of cold wind blew in, and he raised his hand and threw the phone downstairs.

"Tong Yehua, you lunatic!"

Tong Yehua looked down and remarked, "Smashed to pieces. It’s only the third floor, but do you think if I fell headfirst from here, I’d shatter like your phone?"

Xin Ru narrowed her eyes at him warily, "Tong Yehua, what are you trying to do?"

Tong Yehua smiled and extended one leg out the window, "If you don’t agree to marry me, I’m jumping right here and now. The whole family’s here, so it’s a perfect setup for a grand farewell."

"Tong Yehua, if you dare jump, I’ll marry you!"

"Do your words count?"

Xin Ru stared at him coldly, "Count!"

Tong Yehua grinned, then leapt from the window.

Xin Ru was stunned. By the time she realized what was happening, she dashed madly to the window, "Tong Yehua!"

There was no sign of Tong Yehua downstairs.

Xin Ru burst into tears as she opened the door, wiping her face and running downstairs.

As she ran down, he came up.

They met in the second-floor hallway.

Xin Ru stared at him in bewilderment for three seconds before raising a leg to kick him. "You maniac! That height—you actually jumped!"

Tong Yehua dodged her kick, stepped forward, and smiled as he pulled her into his arms. "So, can you finally agree to marry me now?"

"..." Xin Ru glared at him with all her might.

"Then let’s go upstairs. I’ll jump again—my sister’s room is on the fifth floor, I’ll jump from there."

"Tong Yehua, you lunatic! If you dare jump again, I’ll jump with you!"

Tong Yehua chuckled, leaned closer, and kissed her cheek lightly. "Come on, let’s jump together then."

"You’re insane!"

"Let’s go!" Tong Yehua carried her upstairs, opened the door, and strode inside.

"Let me go!" Xin Ru squirmed as she felt her waist about to snap.

Tong Yehua set her down, then knelt on one knee under her angry glare.

The door cracked open slightly, and a single rose was popped through the gap.

Tong Yehua’s lips twitched as he reached for the rose. "Xin Ru, I may not have prepared the flower, but this, I’ve planned for two years."

He pulled a ring out of his pocket and held it high in front of Xin Ru.

Her eyes reddened slightly as she hastily turned her head away.

Tong Yehua moved to her other side and declared loudly, "Xin Ru, will you marry me?"

"Say yes to him!" came laughter from Yi Luowa and the others outside the door.

"Ugh, this is so embarrassing! Get up already!"

"I won’t get up. Caring about saving face means I won’t get a wife—unless you agree to marry me."

Xin Ru glanced at him, then extended her hand. "Hurry up and put it on me! Stop embarrassing me here."

"Haha... she agreed." Tong Aino laughed.

"Uncle, don’t forget to kiss my new aunt!" Yi Luowa teased as she pulled Tong Airui downstairs. "Wasn’t it you who told Uncle that saving face wouldn’t win him a wife?"

"That high-maintenance guy is impossible to deal with unless you use drastic measures. Otherwise, don’t count on him ever getting the girl." Tong Airui laughed. "You go share the good news with Mom and Grandpa later."

"Got it." Yi Luowa winked at him. "Honey, let’s strike while the iron’s hot!"

"What are you plotting again?" Tong Aino chased after Connie.

"Not telling you!" Yi Luowa rolled her eyes at him.

"I’ll handle it myself." Tong Airui chuckled and ruffled her hair.

Tong Aino grinned, "Those two play such scheming games. Whoever they’ve got their sights on is doomed!"

Yi Luowa shot him a look. "Anyone we’ve targeted ends up unbelievably happy. You’re one of them! Don’t act all innocent and clueless."

Tong Aino pointed at his own nose, "I’ve been plotted against by you two as well?"

"Why would we waste time scheming anything about you!" Tong Airui cast him a side glance and quickly led his wife downstairs.

As soon as they got to the ground floor, Yi Luowa laughed and said to Tong Jiaqi, "Grandpa, Uncle succeeded in his proposal! They’ll be attending the troop’s group wedding in May."

"Really?" The old grandpa lit up in delight. "I’ll go tell your grandma. Where is she anyhow?"

"Grandma’s in my other grandma’s room," Connie chuckled and steadied Tong Jiaqi. "I’ll take you there."

Yi Luowa smiled, "Where are Mom and Aunt?"

Connie beamed, "They’re with Grandma too; everyone ran over to watch the ’jumping’ Uncle just pulled off. Total chaos!"

Yi Luowa burst out laughing, "Bet they were all scared to death." She turned to Tong Airui, "Did you clean up the net they used to catch Uncle? Make sure my new aunt doesn’t see it!"

"Done. Trust my work."

"Such troublemakers!" Tong Yao and Ning Mingxi laughed coming out. "But it wasn’t all for nothing—they actually managed to pull off the proposal."

"Just like our dad, totally lacking emotional intelligence!" Ning Mingxi muttered.

"Keep your voice down. If Dad hears you, he’ll scold you again!"

Tong Jiaqi turned back. "I’m in a good mood today, not scolding anyone."

"Dodged a bullet," Ning Mingxi stuck out her tongue. "Tong Yao, that tactless guy wants a group wedding, and we’re just going along with it?"

"Let him have his way, as long as he gets married first."

"True, or who knows what random thoughts will pop into his head. If he decides against marriage again, where are we going to get a nephew to spoil?"

Tong Yao glanced at her, "Shouldn’t you be retiring soon?"

"Your brother and I are just a few months away. Once the time comes, we’ll both retire, and then I’ll come over to help you raise your kids."

"We don’t need your help raising our kids!" Long Che pushed open the study door and shouted at Ning Mingxi.

"I wasn’t talking to you. Mind your own business!"

Tong Airui gave Yi Luowa a meaningful look, and the two quickly darted upstairs. A battle was brewing, and retreat was the best tactic.
