Billionaire's Long Journey of Chasing His Love-Chapter 777 - 649: A Great Battle is Imminent, Avoidance is the Best Strategy (One More Update)
"You idiot, talking to people like that—who’s going to agree to anything you say?" Tong Aino stood up. "I don’t even want to talk to you anymore. I’m going to play with my son."
"Such a show-off!" Tong Yehua chuckled and turned his head to look at Tong Airui. "Aren’t you going to check on your son?"
"Don’t think you can get rid of me." Tong Airui sat up straight, lifted his gaze to Tong Aino, and said, "Go outside and close the door."
Tong Aino nodded and walked out.
"Airui, I was thinking about going to check on your grandfather..."
Tong Yehua tried to slip away, but Tong Airui grabbed him by the arm. "Sit down and chat for a bit."
Tong Yehua sighed, then sat down next to Tong Airui.
The two sat up straight, backs stiff, without saying a word for five minutes.
Tong Yehua couldn’t hold out any longer. He turned his head to glance at Tong Airui. "Weren’t you the one who wanted to talk?"
Tong Airui smirked. "I was waiting for you to say something. We only see each other once a year—you don’t have anything to say to me?"
Tong Yehua thought for a moment, then grinned and asked, "So, how’s life treating you since leaving bachelorhood behind?"
Tong Airui arched an eyebrow slightly. "Can’t you tell?"
"You look every inch the picture of happiness!"
"Let me tell you, my son and daughter can even give me massages now," Tong Airui said smugly, grinning. "If you want to live the kind of life I do, you should lower your stance a little and learn to communicate better."
"Believe me, I want to! But that woman—she acts all superior because she outranks me. Her ego’s practically sky-high..."
Tong Airui slapped him firmly on the shoulder. "If her ego were really that high, she wouldn’t have come to our house with you. By the way, your work is top-tier—why is her promotion faster than yours?"
"She has a Ph.D., I only have a Master’s. Of course she gets promoted faster."
"How about going back to school for a few years and coming back with a Ph.D. then?"
Tong Yehua saw the mischievous grin on his face and laughed. "Messing with me—does that give you some kind of sense of accomplishment?"
"It’s not bad." Tong Airui chuckled. "In terms of status, I’m technically lower than my wife. She’s the princess, while I’m just a little Duke. But aren’t we still living happily? The key is all about your attitude."
"I don’t have your kind of mindset. Besides, how can Yi Luowa compare to her? She doesn’t even bother to look people straight in the eye."
While Tong Yehua was downstairs complaining, Liu Xin Ru wasn’t exactly singing his praises upstairs. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝒆𝒘𝙚𝓫𝙣𝙤𝒗𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
"You all don’t spend much time around him, so you have no idea what kind of person he is. He’s so arrogant, strutting around like a peacock."
Yi Luowa burst out laughing as she looked at her. "What sort of arrogance? Tell us more about it."
Liu Xin Ru pursed her lips briefly. "Fine, I’ll spill everything to you. Back when we were both Majors, our relationship was pretty good, and he wasn’t as arrogant then. But after I got promoted to Colonel ahead of him, he started avoiding me."
Connie asked quizzically, "But aren’t you and my uncle both wearing Colonel insignias?"
"Same insignia, but there’s still a difference between who outranks whom," Yi Luowa explained to Connie, then turned to Liu Xin Ru. "Colonel Liu, did my uncle ever say anything to you?"
Liu Xin Ru frowned slightly. "He did, once. It was after our first visit to your home. He told me that we should just make do with each other."
Connie covered her mouth and laughed. "Sounds like he was proposing to you."
Yi Luowa sighed. "My uncle really has no match when it comes to low emotional intelligence. Who proposes like that? If Tong Airui had said something like that to me, I wouldn’t have agreed either."
"Exactly! Anyone would say no to that," Liu Xin Ru said with a helpless smile. "Let me show you what his attitude was like when he said it."
She stuck her hands in her pants pockets and swaggered a few steps forward. "’Hey, Liu Xin Ru, you’re not getting any younger—how about we just settle for each other?’"
Hahaha...
Connie and Yi Luowa clutched their stomachs, laughing uncontrollably.
"You’re hilarious!" Connie laughed, rubbing her belly.
Yi Luowa chimed in, "My uncle’s emotional intelligence really leaves everyone speechless. But you’ve been calling him out on it for long enough—be careful not to chase away your cooked duck."
"He won’t get away. There aren’t many women in our circle. And, honestly, the few we do have regard him as if he’s some kind of plague—they all avoid him."
Connie tugged at Yi Luowa’s sleeve. "Did you catch that? Colonel Liu is set on becoming our little aunt."
Liu Xin Ru froze. "So you two were just trying to get me to admit that!"
"You really are too easygoing!" Yi Luowa said, laughing as she stood up. "You two really are a perfect match! Just wait—when our family’s Tong Fourth and Tong Fifth finish dealing with my uncle, he won’t strut around like a proud peacock anymore."
"Don’t count on Tong Fifth. Nothing decent ever comes out of his mouth!" Connie stood up too, grinning as she turned to Liu Xin Ru. "Little Aunt, you take a breather for now. My sister-in-law and I will go gather some intel for you."
