Billionaire's Long Journey of Chasing His Love-Chapter 747 - 626: Preparing for the Worst (Second Update)
Tong Airui quickly steadied Yi Luowa, then turned his head and exchanged a glance with Little Raindrop and Tong Aino.
Little Raindrop and Tong Aino understood immediately, each moving to support the Queen of Haotian and the Emperor of Haotian.
Long Che and Mi Xiaotian also carried the two children in their arms.
Everyone hurriedly left the room and headed straight for the surgical ward.
The doors of the operating room slowly opened, and Randy walked out, looking dispirited.
Yi Luowa’s heart sank instantly; seeing him like this...
"Seventh Brother, where’s Dan DanDun?!" Tong Airui shouted in a panic.
"Fourth Brother, I did my best..."
The Emperor of Haotian swayed slightly, and Tong Aino immediately pulled him into his arms.
The Queen of Haotian glanced at her husband with tearful eyes, her lips trembling, and warm tears streamed down her face.
Yi Luowa clutched Tong Airui’s arm tightly, her legs weak as she stepped forward, "Seventh Brother, what are you saying? What do you mean you ’did your best’? Where’s Dan DanDun? Why hasn’t he come out?"
Jimo Shanshan rushed over, "Randy, don’t leave us hanging here! Everyone is too overwhelmed to handle this suspense."
Randy froze for a moment, "I said I did my best to make the surgery perfect. Now it’s up to how well he recovers. What were you all thinking?"
Tong Airui frowned slightly, "If you dare talk halfway through next time, watch how I’ll deal with you!"
Randy’s lips twitched slightly. He hadn’t left things unfinished—he was just speaking too slowly.
Standing behind everyone, Ruan Hanmo tightly gripped his sister’s hand, resting on her waist.
Ruan An Yang had been bickering with her brother all along, only letting go when Randy finished speaking.
Ruan Hanmo glared at her and snatched away the gun from her waistband.
This girl with a gun—whether she intended to kill Randy or herself, her reckless demeanor made people nervous.
Ruan An Yang wiped her tears away from the corners of her eyes. When she had just pulled out the gun, she wasn’t even sure what she planned to do with it. She just felt stifled!
The sound of wheels echoed from the operating room, and finally, Dan DanDun was brought out. Yi Luowa gazed at her unconscious younger brother on the moving bed, and tears began pouring uncontrollably.
Both the Queen and Emperor of Haotian, supported by Little Raindrop and Tong Aino, came closer.
The Queen of Haotian extended her hand halfway before withdrawing it, choking out, "Dan DanDun... Your father, mother, and sister are here to see you."
Yi Luowa turned and hugged her mother tightly, "Mom, Dan DanDun is going to be okay. He’ll recover."
The Emperor of Haotian sighed, "Let’s have Dan DanDun sent back to his ward. He can’t hear anything we say right now."
Everyone stepped aside, watching as Dan DanDun was moved into his room.
Standing outside the hospital window, the Queen of Haotian watched her son. He was covered in tubes, lying motionless. If it weren’t for the ventilator still operating, she might have doubted whether he was even alive.
Yi Luowa supported the Emperor of Haotian as they walked up. The couple stood beside the Queen of Haotian, shoulder to shoulder. Although the family of four had finally reunited, it was under such circumstances—an achingly bitter moment to behold.
Sang Yu clung to her grandfather’s neck, "Look, Uncle."
Long Che quietly walked in her direction. As soon as Sang Yu reached the window, she wrapped her arms around her mother’s neck, rubbing her small face against her mother’s cheek, "Mama... don’t cry."
"Grandpa, Grandma, you don’t cry either!" Zi Yan, being held in Mi Xiaotian’s arms, spoke up too.
Mi Xiaotian quickly brought Zi Yan closer, and the little boy extended his hands to wipe away his grandfather’s tears, then reached over to wipe his grandmother’s as well.
The Queen of Haotian gripped her grandson’s little hand tightly, "Grandma won’t cry anymore. Your uncle will get better."
Zi Yan nodded solemnly, "Uncle will play with us!"
"Yes, when Uncle wakes up, he’ll play with you."
"Ugh... don’t pull me." Nearby, Ruan An Yang tried hard to free her brother’s grip.
Ruan Honglang frowned slightly, "No manners! What are you fussing about now?"
"Dad, I just want to glance at Handsome Brother. Then I’ll leave. But my brother doesn’t let me look! Ugh... Just let me see him..." The more Ruan An Yang cried, the more aggrieved she felt. Ever since Dan DanDun came out, her brother hadn’t let her get close, even insisting on pulling her away now. She couldn’t leave without seeing him—it would leave her unsettled.
"Let the child come and see him. After all, it was her who ended up saving Dan DanDun’s life." The Queen of Haotian came forward, taking Ruan An Yang’s hand.
"I’ll just take a look, and then I won’t disturb you anymore." Ruan An Yang said cautiously, glancing at the Queen of Haotian. 𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖
"You’re not bothering us. Dan DanDun hasn’t woken up yet. Whatever we say, he can’t hear anyway. Everyone can take a look, and then you can each get back to your own matters. As for your great favor, once Dan DanDun wakes up, my son and I will personally visit your home to express our gratitude."
Standing on tiptoe, Ruan An Yang gazed at Dan DanDun inside the room with tears streaming down her face. She sobbed while muttering, "It’s not a big favor. It was just a spur-of-the-moment decision. You don’t need to thank me formally. As long as Handsome Brother gets better, that’ll be better than anything."
The Queen of Haotian chuckled softly. This child was truly sincere.
The group stayed for a while to look at Dan DanDun, knowing he wouldn’t wake up anytime soon. Ruan Honglang then invited everyone to his home.
The Emperor of Haotian smiled apologetically, "We won’t impose on you today. I’ve already had my secretary arrange for a nearby restaurant. We’ll head there shortly."
Ruan Honglang hesitated, looking toward Long Che.
Long Che nodded, "Let’s go with Randy’s plan. It’ll help ease his mind too. Since Dan DanDun isn’t leaving Crescent Island anytime soon, we’ll surely trouble you more in the future."
"Alright, we’ll go with what you say." Ruan Honglang smiled and turned to his son, "Go fetch some of the treasured wine at home."
"Don’t trouble yourself. We all won’t be drinking." Long Che stopped Ruan Hanmo.
"You all go. I’ll stay here to watch over Dan DanDun," Yi Luowa said softly to Tong Airui.
The Queen of Haotian looked over, "You’re still carrying a child; you can’t go hungry. Hurry and go. I’ll stay here to watch over Dan DanDun."
Although they kept their voices low, Ruan An Yang still heard them. She turned her head and said to them, "You’re important guests from afar. You should go eat. I’ll stay here to watch over Handsome Brother."
Shui Hui gently nudged her. This child—child as she was—didn’t consider that her family had already arrived; why was she still insisting on caring for Dan DanDun?
Ruan An Yang pursed her lips, "Mom, don’t worry about me. I can look after Handsome Brother. You just have to bring me back two crab roe burgers."
"Still thinking about food? I thought you had sworn off eating entirely!" Shui Hui scolded, poking her little forehead lightly.
Ruan An Yang puffed her cheeks and rubbed her forehead, "Do you take me for a punching bag? With your strength, you could crush a cow with one hand, and it hurts!"
"It doesn’t hurt; you don’t learn!" Shui Hui admonished, then smiled at the Queen of Haotian. "An Yang says she’ll take care of Dan DanDun. Let’s go. Don’t look down on her—she may be young, but she’s very attentive in taking care of Dan DanDun."
The Queen of Haotian smiled faintly and took a long look at Ruan An Yang. The girl seemed no older than fifteen or sixteen, with a round, dumpling-shaped face and a pair of twinkling, luminous eyes—clear, radiant, and brimming with spirit.
Tong Airui said in a steady voice, "Mom, if An Yang wants to stay, let Kou’er stay to accompany her while we head out."
"Then it’s settled. Thank you for taking on this burden, An Yang. Auntie will order you two big crab roe burgers later."
"This big—" Sang Yu raised her small hands, sketching an outline.
Ruan An Yang smiled sweetly and nodded, "Mm-hm, that big. Thank you, my dear little Sang Yu~"
"Hehe, you want candy?" Sang Yu said with a playful lick on her lips.
Upon hearing this, Long Che couldn’t help but laugh. His granddaughter clearly wanted the candy and was using An Yang as an excuse.
Ruan An Yang blinked, "If you’re giving me candy, could you pick one that doesn’t hurt my teeth?"
Sang Yu pouted, "There’s none, so forget it. No candy!"
Ruan An Yang chuckled, her laughter ringing, "Sang Yu, you’re just too adorable!"
"Hehe..." Sang Yu giggled, only to glance at her brother with a dejected look, "Failure~"
Zi Yan laughed and scratched his own cheek lightly.
"Hmm~ You’re bad!" Sang Yu stomped slightly and then lay on her grandfather’s shoulder.
Yi Luowa smiled helplessly and supported her mother as they joined the group in the elevator.
As soon as they entered the elevator, the Queen of Haotian grasped Randy’s hand tightly, "Kaikai, you and Shanshan have saved Dan DanDun’s life twice now. How can Auntie ever thank you both!"
Randy laughed, "Auntie, please don’t say thank-you. We just happen to be good at this."
"Gratitude is necessary. And I must properly thank the Ruan Island Master’s family too."
Randy smiled helplessly, "Auntie, let’s not talk about this for now. I didn’t get a chance earlier to mention that Dan DanDun is still in the observation stage. During the surgery, I was very confident in my work, but I must tell you that the blood clot had been pressing on his brain for too long. I can’t yet determine if it’s caused issues with his nerves, such as his speech, vision, or mobility."
The Queen of Haotian paused, then smiled and patted Randy’s hand, "Don’t worry. Auntie has already prepared for the worst."
"That’s good." Randy squeezed the Queen of Haotian’s hand firmly. Most women would have fainted from crying by now; the Auntie was clearly not an ordinary woman.
Jimo Shanshan sniffled and said, "Dan DanDun will be fine. He’s been through so much hardship, and it’s taken so long to reach this day—how could he fall again!"
"I love hearing that, Shanshan!" Yi Luowa said as she dabbed her tears away with a tissue.
"You should take care of yourself and stop crying so much." Jimo Shanshan said, looking at Yi Luowa with a hint of helplessness.
Shui Hui looked toward Yi Luowa, puzzled.
The Queen of Haotian sighed, "Luowa is pregnant—two months along."
