Chapter 730: Chapter 614: The Return (Second Update)

Yuan Hang picked up the phone and conveyed Tong Airui’s message.

Marcus chuckled and said, "Duke Airui, no need to be so anxious. I’ve already stationed people all around. They know the princess is leaving—the King’s announcement on TV this morning made it clear. King Randy said this not to create misunderstanding, but to let people know the princess isn’t here seeking rewards—she came to give. Now that she sees the citizens living peacefully, she’s returning home."

Someone in the crowd shouted, "The princess’s car is here!"

The crowd spontaneously made way for the convoy.

The people loudly called out, "Safe travels, Princess!"

Yi Luowa looked out at the crowd, feeling touched. She had simply done what she should, yet the people would always remember her kindness.

"Yuan Hang, drive slower." Yi Luowa rolled the car window down, extending her hand to wave as the convoy passed.

Under the blessings of the people, the convoy slowly headed toward the airport.

The crowd, reluctant to part, followed to the outskirts of the airport, watching Yi Luowa board the plane but still unwilling to leave.

Yi Luowa smiled and waved at the lingering crowd.

Queen Haotian and Emperor Haotian sat in their vehicle, watching their daughter’s plane soar higher and higher, with tears in their eyes. "I never expected the people to come and see Yi Luowa off on their own," said the queen.

Emperor Haotian reached up to wipe away his wife’s tears. "Yi Luowa has done so much for Haotian. Any heart with gratitude should respond this way! Our daughter never said much before, but I made sure to mention it in my televised address—we cannot let her be an unsung hero."

"Yes, we shouldn’t let our child be shortchanged." The queen sniffled. "Let’s go back, sort out what’s on our plates, and then head to Xiamu to visit our daughter and grandson soon."

"I told you not to cry, and here you are, shedding tears again!" Emperor Haotian handed her a tissue.

The queen snatched it away. "I’ll do it myself. Worry about yourself!"

Emperor Haotian chuckled, "I’m not crying—this is just tears from the wind!"

"Oh, you and your quirks!" The elderly couple bantered light-heartedly, alternately laughing and wiping tears, all the way back to the palace.

By midday, the plane finally landed at Xiamu Royal Airport. Even before the cabin door opened, Yi Luowa caught sight of a familiar convoy outside.

Yi Luowa looked at Tong Airui in suspicion, "Honey, did you tell the family we were coming back today?"

"I didn’t; I wanted to surprise them." Tong Airui smiled as he helped her up. "Let’s get off—don’t keep Mom, Dad, and the kids waiting."

Yi Luowa pursed her lips. "That’s not proper—I’m the daughter-in-law! What kind of person has their in-laws come to pick them up?"

"Maybe the family’s little troublemakers commandeered Dad’s car to come greet us."

"They might borrow Dad’s car, but they wouldn’t mobilize Dad’s security team." Yi Luowa suddenly felt pressured—this was just her coming home! Such treatment seemed excessive.

As the two descended the plane, Long Che and Tong Yao emerged from a car with their two kids. The rest of the family followed suit from the vehicles behind them.

"Oh my goodness!" Yi Luowa was stunned by the overwhelming reception—everyone in the family, young and old, was here. The most alarming sight was two heavily pregnant women dashing toward her.

Yi Luowa panicked and immediately waved her hands, "Stop running, you two!"

Youyou giggled. "We’re not running—we’re speed-walking! Sis, you’re finally back! Just last night we were guessing when you’d return, and this morning on TV saw footage of you boarding the plane."

"That scene made us all cry! Haha... Our family’s big hero is home!" Joyina raised her arms from afar.

Frightened by their agility, Yi Luowa quickened her pace, trying to assist them—but her speed alarmed Tong Airui and Tong Yao.

Tong Yao shouted from afar, "These unreliable ones! Rui’er, hurry up and steady Yi Luowa!"

Before his mother finished her sentence, Tong Airui had already supported his wife, "Joyina, Youyou, stop right there!"

Joyina and Youyou immediately froze.

Just then, Ziyan and Sangyu ran toward their mom with their arms outstretched.

"Mommy!"

"Mama~"

Yi Luowa smiled, opening her arms wide, "Babies, slow down!"

"Mama, hug!" Sangyu ran over and clung tightly to her mom’s leg.

"No hugs—you have a little sister now!" Ziyan pulled his sister’s small hand.

Sangyu pouted, looking up at her mom.

Yi Luowa squatted gently, embracing the two little ones. "Mommy might not be able to pick you up high, but I can hold you close like this."

The children pressed their faces to their mom’s cheeks, giggling happily.

"Ziyan, Sangyu, Mommy will take you home and keep holding you there." After some time bonding, Yi Luowa stood up, leading her kids toward their grandparents and relatives.

"Sis..." Youyou and Joyina followed nearer.

"You two need to walk slower next time—you scared me half to death."

"Hehe, we just missed you so much." Youyou grinned sheepishly.

"It’s cold out—get in the car quickly, don’t catch a cold. If you want to talk, we’ll do it back home."

Reaching Long Che, Yi Luowa bowed respectfully to the eight elders. "Grandpa, Grandma, Maternal Grandpa, Maternal Grandma, Mom, Dad, Aunt, Uncle—I’m home. These past months, I must have caused trouble for everyone."

Tong Yao quickly supported her. "It’s good you’re back. Why are you being so formal all of a sudden?"

"I’ve been gone for so long. Not only could I not help the family, I’ve added to their burdens..."

Tong Yao chuckled, "In a family, everyone helping each other is only natural. Stop talking like this—let’s all get in the car. It’s cold outside; whatever needs saying, let’s chat back at home."

Long Che smiled at everyone, "Let’s all sit in the RV—time to go home."

The family piled into the RV. Sangyu and Ziyan stuck close by their mom, flanking her side as soon as she sat down.

Prince Charles glanced meaningfully at his granddaughter-in-law’s baby bump and smiled.

Madam Jing Ya asked warmly, "Yi Luowa, are your parents fully recovered now?"

"Yes, they’re fully recovered and have been back at work for several days. They’re planning to come by soon to thank everyone."

Mi Xiaotian shook his head with a laugh, "Thank us for what? Nuo’er and Shuoshuo know best—what we donated was hardly significant. Your parents just began work and already awarded Zhuoyuan a major project, and the profits from that project are dozens of times what our donations accounted for."

Yi Luowa and Tong Airui exchanged puzzled looks—how were they unaware of this?

Long Che chuckled, "I knew you two wouldn’t know this. Airui, your in-laws happen to be the most grateful people I’ve encountered. Such individuals deserve our support and respect. You and Yi Luowa must treat them well—it’s not about the benefits they’ve given us, but about recognizing who they are."

"Dad, there’s no need to explain; we know you’re not money-driven. But if Mom said it—now that would be suspicious. Haha..."

Tong Aino barely finished laughing before spotting his mom raising her hand to smack him, promptly fleeing to a corner.

"You chatterbox!" Connie teased, glaring at him.

Yi Luowa smiled at Tong Aino, then turned to Connie. "It’s freezing out—why did you bring Zihen along? He could catch a cold!"

"After watching TV and hearing you were coming back, everyone wanted to come meet you. Staying home with him bored me, so I came along. Don’t worry, I bundled him up warmly."

Zihen caught the mention of his name and turned his head toward Yi Luowa.

Sangyu clung tightly to her mom’s arm while exclaiming to her baby brother, "Brother, my mom is back!"

Zihen waved his tiny hands with a giggle.

"We have a mom too!" Ziyan puffed up his chest proudly.

Tears welled up in Yi Luowa’s eyes, and she nearly cried. She pulled her two kids into her arms, whispering, "Mommy will never leave you again."

Sangyu gripped her mom’s coat tightly, "Promise you’ll keep your word!"

Pengpeng pouted and muttered, "Promises are poo poo!"

"Haha..." The whole RV erupted in laughter.

Jimo Shanshan’s face turned beet red.

Tong Yao quickly interjected, laughing to ease her embarrassment, "Next time, we shouldn’t let your mother-in-law care for the kids."

Maizekai sighed deeply, "This really depends. You see, I’ve lived with my mom for so many years without picking up a single curse word. Yet this little rascal, after just a few days, now spouts these things nonstop!"

Tong Aino slapped his thigh, laughing, "Haha...I actually find it hilarious when Pengpeng speaks like that!"

"You, stop talking!" Tong Yao glared at her son, knowing Jimo Shanshan wanted to dig a hole to hide in.

"You’re always asking to be scolded!" Tong Airui chuckled, looking at him with feigned exasperation.

"Haha..." The RV filled with laughter again.

As everyone continued chatting, the vehicle slowly came to a halt.

Long Che furrowed his brows and glanced at Tong Aino. "Go take a look."

Tong Aino nodded and quickly moved to the driver’s area. He returned shortly, reporting, "Dad, there’s a car blocking the road ahead. Our people have already gone to investigate."
